People become more attractive when you see them more so a famous mom and one pic of an unknown daughter could be accounting for some of the discrepancy but yes, in most cases the daughters were not as attractive.
I have to admit, I agree with some of the other comments. The mother's looked better than the daughters. Back in the day, there wasn't all that plastic surgery and used a little make up. They kept it real. Many of the daughters look too made up.

I only realized that about Cary Grant when I saw pictures of him before he was famous. And I know about Dean Martin because his former roommate talked about how he wanted to punch Dean in the face, when they got into a heated argument. But he said he couldn’t because Dean had just had his nose done. Marilyn Monroe had hairline electrolysis, a nose job, chin implant, and mid face lift. The mid face lift gave her that sleepy eyed look. Elvis Presley had a nose job. As did Barbara Eden from “I Dream of Jeanie”. Zsa Zsa and Eva Gabor both had nose jobs in the 1940s when they moved from Hungary to Hollywood. (There were actually 3 Gabor sisters and their mom. And all 4 got nose jobs in the 1940s) Women were not all about “natural beauty” until maybe the 1970s. If you look at high school yearbooks of teens from the 1930s-late 1960s; lots of them looked like 40 year olds. And most of the mothers looked “better” than their daughters because most of the daughters looked more like their dads. Debbie Reynolds married Eddie Fisher. And Carrie looked like both of her parents. Demi Moore’s daughters all look more like Bruce Willis than Demi. I feel bad for the daughters of beautiful women who married unconventional looking men. They have the public constantly comparing their looks to their mothers’. Alexa Ray Joel (daughter of Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel) talked about how she was driven to attempt suicide because she had so many awful things said about her looks. Demi Moore’s daughters said the same thing too. They had been told their whole lives they weren’t pretty. And they all ended up with eating disorders and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Knowing what some of their father looked like, I think most of these daughters actually looked more like their father than their mother. Some of the daughters actually had very little of their mother's facial features and as some mentioned, looks wise, some of the daughters couldn't hold a candle to their mother at the same age. To be perfectly honest, imho, only a few were actually prettier than their mother.
Makes sense, though. Not all of the daughters in this list are active as actresses or models, but their mothers are all famous due to their beauty, or are simply pleasant to look at because we're familiar with them.

About a year ago, my youngest son and I, got in contact after 20 years. The last time I saw him, he was 3 month old. I was chocked to learn, that he's a complete clone of me. I looked exactly like him, when I was 20. As we say here in Denmark; sometimes the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree. Interesting video.
I am sorry to say this but a few of the daughters seem to be the result of the "Beauty and the Beast" syndrome. That is, their beautiful mothers mated with some bad boy, charismatic but less than handsome (to say the least) rocker or some such. The result is that the child does not have the the beauty of the mother. There's a famous case where the poor girl kept being the brunt of meanspirited jokes on social media and fought it off with psychotherapy and plastic surgery. This is the opposite of the previous father/son video, where many of the men had married beautiful women and the sons came out "prettier", as someone else commented.
Out of all the pairs shown, there are only 2 instances of the daughter nearing their mother's beauty. Lisa Bonet/Zoe Kravitz, Vanessa Paradis and Lily Rose Depp. The others have hints of their mom's good looks but not quite there.

I am sorry to say this but a few of the daughters seem to be the result of the "Beauty and the Beast" syndrome. That is, their beautiful mothers mated with some bad boy, charismatic but less than handsome (to say the least) rocker or some such. The result is that the child does not have the the beauty of the mother. There's a famous case where the poor girl kept being the brunt of meanspirited jokes on social media and fought it off with psychotherapy and plastic surgery.
This is the opposite of the previous father/son video, where many of the men had married beautiful women and the sons came out "prettier", as someone else commented.
Out of all the pairs shown, there are only 2 instances of the daughter nearing their mother's beauty. Lisa Bonet/Zoe Kravitz, Vanessa Paradis and Lily Rose Depp. The others have hints of their mom's good looks but not quite there.
There is something oddly creepy about the daughters, except Dakota Johnson, she is very beautiful.

I think a lot of them resembled their fathers more than, or as much, as their mothers. To me, Natasha Wagner- also with black eyeliner around her eyes- would strongly resemble Natalie Wood. Robin Wright and her daughter Dylan also look a lot alike.
