Only early days but morris looking like a good shout to number 1 be a very shrewd signing and number 2 him possibly being a contender for player of the season if he carries on throughout the season, love how he plays and his interviews are great!! Keep up the good work guys UTB!

Good stuff on the left back situation. One of the many reasons we need McGree back and starting is that he knows best how to play that tucked in left side role and make a partnership with an attacking left back. Burgzorg is no better than a bench impact player - and that’s a useful thing to be. With Latte Lath up top and McGree on the left you can then perm who does best in the 10 role - Azaz or Conway and if Jones isn’t doing the biz on the right flank he will doubtless come under pressure from Doak. Far from sure yet about Hamilton.
To an extent we’ve had the same issue with right back as well. Injuries have dictated but we’re missing Ayling’s forward runs on the right and Dijksteel hasn’t quite stepped into that side of the role yet. If we can get VDB (and Fry and Lenihan) back and Ayling at right back we can re-engineer our wing play on both flanks to what it was at its best.

Depth in quality only gets near to being a reality when we get rid of the bulk of the injuries that have bedevilled the end of last season and the start of this. I get that Carrick likes to smokescreen stuff for the ‘benefit’ of opponents but it’s very frustrating to not have a clear picture on injuries and what’s being done to manage them and whatever the causes of them are - I know there was this supposed review last season that concluded there was no common cause or something that could be done. I’d be more comfortable with that if the damaging level of injuries - and long term ones at that - wasn’t continuing at such a damaging level

The most important thing is the clean sheets. As long as we have them we’ll be fine. The goals from open play will come.

Neto Carlos 🇧🇷 give him a few games and you’ll see he’s absolute quality!
He will start over Bangura when fit if I was a betting man he will improve when we have a fully fit back line also!
Let’s hope this break allows us to get a fully fit squad now as if we have one we are in great shape and we have to start scoring goals and winning games and flying up the table!
Also very important REST IN PEACE SOL BAMBA was an absolute legend for us truly loved him rest well big fella! ❤️🔴⚪️⚽️ #UTB

Morris is a great signing, but Howson is nigh on our best player, he can control the tempo of the game, no one else can do that.

Disagree. I’d say Morris and Hackney have done really well at dictating the tempo of our games so far this season. Morris in particular though; he’s v good at quickening the play and slowing it down when need be, as showcased in the clips from the Cardiff game. Boro have good options in midfield, and Howson’s game time will be significantly limited if Morris keeps up his form.

Morris is more of a ball winner than Hobson (though Johnny is good at that). His reading the play to make interceptions are as good as any player I’ve seen in a Boro shirt, maybe bar Boateng. He’s also younger. Big Howson fan, but Morris has so much potential

Two good options to have nonetheless! UTB
