- Abbey falls of Madikeri tourism also known as Abbi waterfalls of Coorg tourism or Kodagu Karnataka Tourism. Abbey Falls or Abbi Falls is a waterfall situated near Madikeri town. Abbey waterfall is located in Kodagu about 8kms from Madikeri. Water from Kootu Holey dam near the town flows into the falls. Abbey means "falls" in Kannda. Abbi in coorgie means a waterfall. The falls is inside a coffee plantation. Abbey Falls is a breathtaking waterfall where the Kaveri river cascades down a rockface. A hanging bridge is built across the gorge here offering a good view of the falls. The British called it the Jessie waterfalls in memory of Jessie the daughter of Madikeri’s first captain.
Madikeri is a hill station town in Madikeri taluk in Karnataka state, India. Also known as Mercara, it is the headquarters of the district of Kodagu (also called Coorg). It is also known as the Scotland of India. Madikeri was formerly known as Muddu raja keri. Muddurajakeri which means Mudduraja's town, was named after the prominent Haleri king, Mudduraja who ruled Kodagu from 1633 to 1687. According to Puranas, Kodava is the redefined name of Krodhadesa meaning Land of Anger, said to have been inhabited by the Kodava tribe. Some historians believe that it is named after the River Cauvery. Coorg was under the Gangas rule during 9th and 10th centuries and Cholas in the 11th century followed by Hoysalas. Later Coorg was relatively independent under Haleri Rajas until British occupied the region in 1834. Coorg was a separate state before its merger with Karnataka in the year 1956. The form of the name often used in English, Mercara, is derived from Madikeri. Madikeri lies in the Western Ghats and is a popular hill station. The nearest cities are Mangaluru to the west, and Mysuru to the east. Madikeri lies on the Karnataka State Highway 88 that runs from Mangaluru to Mysuru. It is 120 km from Mysuru , 136 km from Mangaluru, 265 km from Bengaluru, the state capital of Karnataka, 322 km from Coimbatore & 362 km from Kochi.
Coorg tourism has many interesting places such as Namdroling Monastery also known as golden temple, Kottu Holey dam, Gaddige Raja's tomb, Raja Seat, Bhagamandala Temple, Mount Thavoor, Madikeri Fort , Nisargadhama, Chelavara Falls, Kotebetta, Kote Abbey (waterfalls ), Mandalpatti, Iruppu Falls, Talacauvery, St. Mark's Church, Omkareshwar Temple, Madikeri Fort, Dubare Elephant Camp, Pushpagiri and Brahmagiri Sanctuaries many more.

There is a rope bridge above the running water
There is a rope bridge which was closed when i visited the place and now after the recent landslide in that area, the bridge is partially destroyed.
Worst experience, we had to walk so much , we came in a car but there was so much traffic , and there was no officials taking care of this. Firstly we were stuck in a traffic for about 1 hour, then we walked over 1.5km , so many ppl were complaining about it , since everyone was tired, moreover it was raining
Can we go in our own traveller bus, or we should go by jeep only?? Is thr any entry fee??
to abbey falls we can go in our own vehicle, to mandalapatti, only vehicle with off road capability can go till the top
@@SudeeshKottikkalthanks ! Is thr any entry fee??
