When the TTC meant that the bus is the better way, it meant at 3:00 a.m.
It may almost be better, to get down to Queen’s Quay, to get off at Bathurst Station, take the 511 tram down and then switch to the 509 Harbourfront. Yes Ilike tram lanes but not when they’re not being used.
It's also like a mobile hotel at 3am.
The traffic has to be killing the economy....everyone i know avoids downtown if they can.
i remember when TO had plenty of parking and the economy was much better in part due to that parking and friendliness toward cars and trucks, private and commercial. all dead and gone now, but at least the virtue signallers are slightly more content.
@@daiichidoku lol Virtue signalling? We talking about traffic man.
this is what happens when you neglect public transit improvements/expansion for decades. The Ontario Line will help, but that line should have been built 40 years ago.
My general rule of thumb is that if I can walk to my destination within 50 minutes, walking is quicker than taking the TTC.
Yeah, but that's a long walk when you've been on your feet all day.
@@kenlompart9905 I can probably walk it but NOT during a heatwave in summer.
Every place is within walking distance... if you have the time
TTC has, for decades, stood for “ take the car”
This segment would’ve been a lot more effective if you gave the times of each. How much faster was the walker than the shuttle bus?
Two observations:
Some years ago - before Liberty village was really developed - it was faster walking along King from Dufferein to Bathurst than taking the streetcar.
I took the Spadina streetcar a few weeks ago, just before the construction, from Spadina Station to Queens Quay - and it godawful slow. The ride back in the evening, after rush hour, was a half hour. I timed it.
Travelling in the city is a mess , gardener is 2 lanes till who knows when, 401 always has traffic , downtown area is always grid lock
When he said the ttc is fast and reliable I almost chocked on my food was so funny😂
All around the quickest way is by bicycle 🚲
This. Toronto City Hall seriously should focus more on providing sustainable and accessible bike paths in the city. We coule be the next Amsterdam in terms of bike usage.
Even the underground PATH routes should be open to bicycles.
The sidewalk talk is sooo true 😂😂😂😂
I miss 1986 "Spadina Bus" song! By The Shuffle Demons. Have a great weekend. Cheers!
I prefer the Cherry Beach Express by Pukka Orchestra. It has a nice message for trouble makers and deadbeats alike in it.
The solution is to use street car space for the replacement buses if possible.
Ban cars in the downtown core
“I think I’m the fastest walker in the building.” Tammy snickers, Devo says “it’s not a competition.” Sid loves himself way too much.
He's a narcissist that's why. Everything always has ro revolve around him.
He's one of the reasons I stopped watching BT. The social, is the reason I stopped watching CITY
transit is good when I don't have to walk 30 minutes with 50 pounds of grocery
Just leaving a tip for peeps in the comments section. I live in the GTA. It's July 2024, WWE had a PPV on the weekend at Scotia Bank arena. When the event ended, I wanted to grab some Chinese food near university avenue which is like a 7 min drive. Taxi driver on the side says, if you pay cash $40 for a 7 min ride, I said no way, I'd rather walk then pay $40, taxi driver has the gull to say, ok ill give you a better price, $35. I said no thanks, and walked away. I walked from Union Station to the Royal Fairmount Hotel which is across the street from Scotia Bank Arena. Took an Uber from the hotel to the restaurant on University Ave. for $7. Be careful even with taxi drivers in the city because a lot of them assume you're probably someone outside visiting who's aloof to the traffic and time to get t your destination, if you can walk 15 mins in downtown for some extra steps, do it.
I walk 27 minutes from a train station because since covid, they cut services 70% in Edmonton… it takes me 60 minutes longer to bus to school then walk 27 minutes from train.
Escooter is the cheapest fastest and most convenient way. Light foldable keep it under your desk.
Sid walking to keep his sanity lol🤣
Too late.🤣
His sanity left the same time as his physical appearance did as well.
Mike, wear a helmet.
rollerblading wasn't tried, but it is quick, as long as you don't have to jump over potholes or gravel in a construction zone
They should allow buses on the street car track on spadina. Thay are dedicated lanes and faster.
Further cutting-edge journalism, from City.
Walking is the first mode of transport for humankind…Still walking rules. The bipedal experience is the greatest upgrade of all time. No evolution whatsoever without bipedal addition…
I usually walk from King (after getting off of the 504 at Spadina) because I find it faster then attempting to take the bus to get to Queen's Quay. Too slow
Next thing you know it's traffic along the sidewalk
Silver lining is hoping the increased foot traffic will at least boost sales of shops located along that road.
This makes me wonder in what situation would walking be faster than cycling?
A flat tire
when you're that lady behind the bus driving in the bike lane 😆
tbf, the bus was also stuck behind cyclists at times as well.
If you are shocked that walking beat the bus, you are way out of touch with Toronto life.
Walking has always been quicker than transit. If it is shorter than an hour. Biking has always been the fastest. This is nothing new.
We all know Sid the Milkbag Body is not walking anywhere. Does BT not have a corporate gym this guy could slither into?
That walk is not an hour. From Bloor to Queens Quay it's roughly 3.5 km. A brisk walker like myself would only take 30 mins. Even someone slightly slower would only take 40 mins at most.
In the middle of summer though? Most people would be drenched in their own sweat even after just 10 mins outside.
Walking is good for you and it's better than the on the environment and pocket book. When I lived in Toronto years ago I walked everywhere and it was awesome to see the city and also I was in great shape and I had so much more money
Good! Now let's focus on disbanding all public transit and we can start with the 510 Spadina route.
This is so embarrassing!
yes, lets have only transit and bike lanes and do away with the evil car and truck.
💩⭕
BT has no class! I miss the time Kevin was on BT, it has gone downhill, to this garbage!
Do the traitors in the Canadian government walk or take the bus?
They would hop in their private helicopters that they bought with our money
How stupid, is this a grade 5 class? Can I do this weak stuff on T V ………and get paid ? And even 3 people actually have a comment . Get me a break ! Awful, just awful.
