- In the East Khasi Hills District of the state of Meghalaya, a small hamlet called Nongtraw still lives off its traditional crops. Krai, Jali, Jarain and Jakhria to name a few still form a part of their daily diet. While most of Meghalaya has forgotten these crops, the people of Nongtraw still cultivate them and honour these crops with stories and traditional couplets…
This video is a production of the global development cooperation project ‘Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in Agragrian Landscapes’ implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (also known as GIZ in India) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection in cooperation with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and the North East Slow Food and Agrobiovidersity Society, NESFAS .
