  • Had a friend/customer who is getting out of the records re-selling business. He only sold online and after the platform he used changed their shipping policies he found it too complicated. So he brought in what he had left to sell. He only sold his doubles to help pay for his collection so It wasn’t huge amount of records. Just under 100 records but he gave me a good deal, and it was some decent stuff. The Smiths, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen , Television, Kraftwerk, Led Zeppelin, even a bunch of sealed stuff including then Tragically Hip.
    Check it out.

      I really like that mix. It’s a shame so
      Many people overlook the b-tracks

    Looks like some good stuff. That copy of "Stand Up" is on Reprise, so it's either an original US or Canadian pressing with the pop-up in the gatefold. Did those original Canadian Led Zep II's with the red labels use the Robert Ludwig mastering that everybody goes wild over?

    • @timecapsuledunnville5133
      @timecapsuledunnville5133  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct on the pop up cover. It is a USA label Terre Haute pressing with the chrysalis symbol. No as far as I know there are no Canadian Ludwig pressings. Those have gone crazy in price over the last year or so.

    Putting my guess price on that before the reveal:
    90 records total
    ~ 20 in the < $0-5 range
    ~ 10 in the $40 range
    And I’ll put the rest (60) at $15
    So maybe $1,300 retail for the lot? (USD)
    So $300 (CAN) for the lot? Good deal. You should get your money back and a bit of profit from the best pieces then pure profit from those 12” and popular lightly worn albums.
    I’d absolutely bought it for myself, although I’d only keep about a dozen of them, the 400 records I currently have take up far too much room for another 80 records I don’t care about.
    So I’m curious what you do with all the clutter pieces. My local record store has many boxes of records which I can’t imagine will ever sell at any price. And even something like discogs, who’s going to pay $6 shipping for a $3 record (often - I know I have plenty of times)? Do you just keep it in the bargain bin for years hoping it will eventually sell?

      Yeah in my shop (because I am out of the way) I price a little lower, but not far off what you are thinking. I do have a few $5 or less bins that people do love to have a dig through. New younger collectors love going through them to expand their collections without breaking the bank

      Keep picking, they sometimes let holy grails get on the floor for $2.99. I found Rush's first 45 in May of 2023 at a Value Village, worth upwards of $1,500 for $2.99 and know of two copies of The Plastic Cloud album , also now in the $1,500 range, picked recently for $2.99 each. They are out there. Cheers.

    Yes Discogs have ruined record collecting for both buyers and sellers.

    • @timecapsuledunnville5133
      @timecapsuledunnville5133  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know if they ruined collecting. They certainly changed the hobby. It has made finding rare records a bit easier, but it has made finding bargains out in the wild much harder

    • @merkazoidduff7651
      @merkazoidduff7651 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why do you say that? You mean ruined as in making records available for collectors?
      Still, I’ve never sold on discogs, only spent thousands. So what’s this about the changes to shipping policy? You can’t get your record to show up first for $1 with $99 shipping? Sellers who do that are the most annoying.
