How come you don't pin the centre of the fabric

I’m not sure what center you’re referring to. The center of the block is pinned, then the outside folds are pinned. The layers pin the other sides down enough that you won’t need to pin them on all corners. The long strip is pulled taught so that it doesn’t need pinned everywhere.
