I actually think GW have done a great job balancing out all the elven races. If I was to play woodies it would be the positional spread because you can build up the throwers and catchers and I feel those guys might be very valuable with the TD's giving cash. Dark Elves next please, keep the elven theme going.
I wish there was more actual wood on the wood elf team to add character. I kind of wish the treeman could be replaced with: 0-2 Dryads MA:6 ST:4 AG:3+ PA:6+ AV: 9+ Skills: Disturbing Presence. Gets G/S on a primary A on a secondary. Cost 90k. Most of the wood elf teams I see don't run the treeman. I'd like to see a couple of trees on the pitch even if they're not the biggest tree in the forest.

I was considering if a 4th re-roll could be added as they are pretty expensive and even worse to try and pick up during the season. If we forgo the Apothecary (not too bad to pick up after a game or two) then we could start with the following: UW Troll All the Rats 3 Goblins 4 Snotlings 4 Re-Rolls Dedicated Fans 995000 Still have 14 starting players, I don't believe it weakens the line-up significantly (you can still have 14 players on the pitch for a drive). The risk to your Rats is slightly increased until you get your Apothecary but they are unskilled Rats at the start and not too horrible to replace early on. The extra Re-Roll is going to help out with those inevitable risky Stunty plays.
Hey Johnny - great question! When it comes to the Wood Elf team, you can pretty much just use the Wardancers and then "Everyone else is a lineman" - and that works pretty well! When you grow your team and pick up positionals - it can be worth using base rings or painting the base edge a different colour so it's easy for your opponent to tell the difference! As long as it's clear for everyone - you can pretty much do what you want with BB!!
A Wood Elf Lineman would be a treasured position player on any other team, so don't discount starting with all line elves and truly maximized rerolls. Another thing- if you're going with the two Wardancer build, why not ditch the fan factor and instead upgrade a line-elf to a thrower? The changes to passing make it so that having a thrower on your wood elf team is a real boon.
I would be tempted to run the 2 Dancer, 1 Thrower, 1 Catcher, 6 Lineman, and 1 Tree team. Just go all in.

Cellwinn was thinking the same, except drop the Apothecary for a 5th Goblin. Should be easy enough to save up for an Apothecary fairly quickly!

The only answer for the next team to look at is Orcs, as you can't take a full positionals set anymore.
Its a shame you can't build these out of the team box without ebay / conversions.

The rule changes to Leap are going to hurt Wood Elves far more than the positional cost increases.
