Forrest Wang returns to Formula D and chat about his future!

- In this episode we chat with Forrest Wang about his return to Formula D in his S15 Silvia! We ask him what transmission he will be using, what engine ( a 3.0 2JZ-GTE built by Just Racing ) his tire sponsor, all kinds of stuff! I am super excited to see Forrest return to professional drifting and bring back his exciting flair and fun to the sport. I wanted to ask him questions about his future, and I already asked him questions about his past.
I met Forrest at street car takeover in Vegas. I was there with BC running the booth. And I was just like looking around his car. And he came over and introduced himself. Asked if I had any questions. Etc. I’ll never forget that. Now being in a position where people come up to me and ask me stuff. I appreciate that he did that even more so. He’s always seemed like such a nice dude. Glad to have him back.
2023 FD is going to be fun. Forest back...James Deane....come on?! Just need Piotr back.

I remember the days he was at fullrace. Went tona house party with some one of the fabricators and it happend to be where Forrest was staying. He was asleep on the couch with all this craziness going on. Woke up about 11- 1130 pm and him and his dog hopped in the truck to go to the shop to get some work done on his car. Completely bypassed all that choas and persued his dream. I have never seen that type of dedication ever. Not even to this day. I appriciate any and all interations i have had with this dude. 🍍🔥💨👍

Him talking about not wanting to run a tall tire because of looks felt right. Drift cars just need to have the right look. Like denofa said, FD should limit tire size to a 245/40/18.

I'm so happy he's back,I haven't watched formula drift usa since 2019,Wang,deane and his partner, alex honnadel,all those guys were the reason I watched, but I'm glad deane and Wang are it's gonna be lit.
I really hope he does well. This attitude is what I love about the drift scene.

Meet him around 5 years ago at Vir hyperfest was super nice. Was going to take me for a ride in his demo car on the patriot course. It was about to rain but he said we could go anyway I said ok .Officials had already closed the track. So we couldn't go maybe one day.

Losey touching on how "random" drifting can be was cool, but it isn't "randomness" I'd say, it's fairness. And a lot of the times thats how FD SHOULD go, where the points leader or who is winning battles should constantly be changing. I feel this would only push comp. But instead, we get nepotism.

Lets hope the judges don't screw him again, though judging by the fact he wasn't granted a pro license (which is funny when you see some of the folks that got allowed to compete in pro last year) last year then I doubt anything will have changed.

I remember when he came to houston in 06 or 07 for an FD pro-am event. IIRC he was mostly unknown to us but his driving skillI was definitely notable and his car was all one color 😂. Needless to say he won the event
Ive been saying this since we were both in high school when he was drifting with a buddy of his named well we call him Kamakaze. No we didnt go to the same school in hawaii but the car scene is pretty tight knit in hawaii. Just go search hawaiiraceway park drift wang was always angled out. But anyways id always say when Wang drifted "Let It All Wang Out" lets go Kanaka Wang represent Hawaii with that 808# and green Livery

33:29 I would wholeheartedly disagree there with Forrest. Gutting my e46 328i is the best thing I ever did to that car. The thing is now a rocketship comapred to before. For low powered cars like these weight makes a big difference. Plus less weight means the car is more agile and fast in transitions. Even if it's a "street" car meaning you take it out street drifting in the canyons at night but still don't daily drive it, gutting it is of course worth it. But yes, please don't gut your daily car that you go to work with, that is not pleasant.
I am going to go on a limb and say I think the B58 will be the modern day 2jz in a couple years... Would love to see Forrest in a GR Poopra
