    This interview made me SO GODDAMNED PROUD. Everything I've been thinking, spoken by Rener. This man is the legacy of the REAL Jiu Jitsu. As a Brazilian, I've been SO CONCERNED about the current state of Jiu Jitsu, it makes me sick with fear. Jiu Jitsu is losing everything that made it such a great, powerful, INVINCIBLE art. I find the focus on jiu jitsu competition so incredibly WRONG I can't even put it into words.
    I love you, Rener! From the bottom of my heart!

    I am not a Jiujitsu man myself, but I am inspired to learn it, after hearing Rener speak here. Lts and lots of iwsdom, and you know you are totally right. You see this thing over all the martial arts as well, with the empahsis on competition.

    Great video. Rener made some outstanding points. Most of the change could be due to business concepts of retaining students and or making there school look good in sport. I believe self defense first should be the priority.

    I'm so proud to actually be in this martial art. Anyone who gets bullied or always gets hurt by someone. Like Rener says this martial art is NOT something you use to hurt or beat up someone this is for defense.

    MMA stand-up replaced Jiu-Jitsu stand-up... I agree with Rener, whose seminars I have taken and enjoyed, that berimbolo, butterfly and other things that don't consider punching are bad for street or MMA, but I wouldn't need those against a jerk in the street. A guy in the street is going to get the double leg, side control to mount and a heavy top choke. I only need goofy guards to beat other BJJ players. My basics with punches and kicks will win a street fight, just like Royce did.

  • @bghaf

    i started bjj for street fighting/no gi but it was out of fear/insecruity - im doing sport bjj cus im in love wit hit. never been in a street fight and never planning on it. its way more fun when you do things based of passion instead of fear. just saying.

    I love this video and Rener's vision of the Origins and practicality of REAL Jiu-Jitsu. The Grandmaster didn't adapt the art to get points, but to beat larger opponents more efficiently. I agree 150%.

    Sorry I missed this jewel. So you "tap" people out in street fights? I have never seen a real dangerous altercation ever end with a tap. Street fights go until one side is incapacitated, broken up or someone runs away. Unless they are in a schoolyard, in which case I don't think this is quite what Rener was talking about. Bragging about streetfighting is a bit douchey too, but thats a whole other thing. Thanks for watching, we appreciate it!!!

    I also"think" because as a resault of all the tournaments it was a huge reason why alot of new things were developed. Before Jiu jitsu came to America in Brazil they didn't have as many tournaments as now were people can developed new guards . Seems like the main tournaments in Brazil were street/beach fights in which they couldn't try or perform newer/different guards otherwise they would have. GRACIE JIU JITSU has been street proven for decades !

    I love what is Rener saying, it's true. The only problem is that jiu-jitsu works only against one opponent , you need to be able to punch and kick hard and fast too if you want to get out of a bad situation on the street. Otherwise, they walk on your face. And today, it happen often.

    I feel so sad watching this.This JiuJitsu is not here in Brazil anymore.BJJ change my life,but it's very hard to continue if there is a bunch of idiots around you.Everyone concerned with the "rules" and anyone concerned with the evolution of his own game.I get pissed when I'm rolling and people say "if you do that in competition, you will be disqualified." Fuck competitions.I feel so alone when I see people not bothering to be better fighters and better people,everyone just wants the next belt.

  • @RobPorVida
    @RobPorVida 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    MMA isnt street fighting. No rules apply in a life or death situation, what he says about sports jiu jitsu is the same for mma.
    Plus the gracies did dominate many UFC fights and even more vale tudo fights. Learn the facts first.

    If all one's confidence came from say jiu-jitsu or judo, then I would say such a one is a sad miserable individual. Those of us who have studied know that the best confidence one can hope for from something like jiu-jitsu is merely conjectural--nothing certain. One must base their faith on something true and unchanging to gain certain confidence: enter the Bible alone!
