Villa Boy channel has some of the best vintage football footage on TH-cam, it really is excellent, and one of my favourites on here.

One of the things I like about watching the old matches is the terrific strip designs of the 70s and 80s, plus I like reading the trackside advertising so many companies not around anymore

If only Norwich fans could sing On the Ball City like that nowadays. Actually sounds like a decent football chant.
Nowadays everyone is singing a different tune and rushing it. Half of them don’t even know the words.
I think it’s up to the club to produce a melody soundtrack that can be played when singing it at the start of the match.
Put the words up on the screen.

Watching this before the Man City game. (2020 cup final). I doubt we will win but at least we have these classic games as a part of our history.

I was there! Best Villa banner on view: "Ian Ross and The Supremes!" Keith Leonard is my all time favourite player, his career cruelly cut short by a knee injury, otherwise he would have been an absolute Superstar, a Villa legend.

Ron Saunders had a remarkable run in League Cup Finals between 1973 & 1977. Lost as Norwich Manager v Spurs in 1973, he was back a year later as Manchester City Manager when they lost to Wolves, he was then back in 1975 with Villa as we see here, winning, he then won the Final again with Villa in 1977 v Everton after 2 replays.

I was there. I remember it as being a very nervy game with few chances. Was behind the goal and when the pen was awarded Machin stayed down for ages with "cramp". No physio came to see to him & he eventually started to cop some real stick. The ref eventually belatedly made him leave the field .Ray Graydon showed a lot of calmness to slot away that rebound ,many would have skied it.

Didn't go, but happy days for a 14 year old Villa fan. Graydon, Nicholl, Carradous, Leonard, Little etc absolute heroes. What a team, what did Ron Saunders feed them on to get that energy? I had the pictures of the celebrations in the 'Argos' on my bedroom wall for about a year afterwards lol!

i remember that final i was 12 me & DAD (RIP) WENT TOO WEMBLEY ! UTVILLA ! the only div 2final i think Norwich only had that one clear chance with Mcdougals shot off the line by ian ross the villa Captain villa should have won by 4-o the chances we had we dominated norwich great too see ross recieving the league cup trophy and lap of honour after our fans was at the tunnel end we completly outshouted the norwich fans who were at the south end at wembley we made up for 1971 disappiontment vs spurs when villa were robbed by chivers!!! i was pleased for charlie aitken & chico hamilton both survivours of that final in 1971they shouild ve kept the twin towers

Typical biased commentary against Midlands clubs. You had to be London, Manchester, Liverpool or Newcastle based to get any recognition. Oh, it's still the same 44 years later.Total domination by Villa. Incessant pressure by Villa into injury time. And incessant noise and support by Villa fans. Then there was Ron "Would you bet against us?" Saunders who five years later was against the then media's darling Bobby Robson of Ipswich who bottled it. As he did later in 1986 in Mexico only letting England off the leash after we were two-nil down. Fortune favours the bold!

I don’t know if it’s bias, more like indifference. It’s the same with East Anglian clubs and South-West clubs.
There too much spouting in about bias these days. If something doesn’t fit their own narrative people call it bias.
It’s not like Norwich get any recognition. In fact these days they are often bombarded by hate because they can’t afford to stay in the Prem.
