This scene is great and the acting is great... but not enough people give credit to the shop owner and how perfectly she played the snooty, fake nice character so well. Especially when things go downhill and her horror at having to deal with anything that is less than ideal or unglamorous. That actress killed that part.
It's crazy how small actors like that can really bring a scene together but not get any credit. Take Terminator 1, for example, the actors who played the punks in the opening scene really make that scene iconic. It shows in Terminator Genesis because the actors they got to play the punks in that movie sucked.

What I'm surprised about is how no one ever comments on how rude it is of Lillian (the bride) the make her bridesmaids pay for expensive gowns! She knows that Annie is struggling financially but doesn't seem to take that into account when they're wedding shopping.
This is what makes Megan a much better friend than Lillian ✅️

Too often, women getting married have the attitude that it’s all about them, and don’t take other people into consideration. When that happens people need to call them on it and take them down a peg.

I’m not a woman, but I would REALLY hate the character Helen if I were and had to interact with her that much. All the subtle passive-aggression and condescension.

Even Lilian is passive aggressive tho. I wouldn't be friends with any of them except for Megan. Annie doesn't look close to Lilian at all if she can't even voice her concerns

Helen totally intended to sabotage Annie from the get go. Annie had to find out about the details of Lilian’s wedding dress along with the rest of the bridesmaids while Lilian and her newfound friend, Helen were secretly discussing wedding stuff behind the scenes. It just goes to show how someone else’s money can change a person. Lilian knew very well that $800 was a bit much even for an on sale price tag. Yet she reacted like it was nothing which is a bit revealing of her persona when her true financial situation becomes clear towards the end of the movie. Suddenly Lilian realizes the stuff Helen had been bragging about is stuff her dad couldn’t afford. I didn’t feel sorry for Lilian at all, she fell in love with Helen’s money and her dad had to give her a reality check. I’ve met people like Lilian throughout the years and they don’t last in one’s lives very long. I know it’s just a movie but that’s what makes this film so great, it portrays certain traits in a very realistic way.
Women are ALWAYS Hypnotized by Wealth. They will sell their Souls to feel close to $$$ and Status then claim they were "Victims" of The Patriarchy!!!😂

@@kat35lulu88 It went well. Food was not a problem. Uber was a problem. The wedding was in the middle of nowhere and Uber didn't work in the area so I had to get a ride from one of the guests back to the hotel.

This is an IBS nightmare.
Helen is kinda bully. She might be not realizing it because she is so out of touch with reality. A normal 'friend' would not or ever try to make someone on their circle feel uneasy with their action. Personally, I have those in my close-knitted circle (I'm not sure whether they are aware of their antics or not). One work in finance and another one is super privileged kid - but I'm okay with the latter since the person always try to 'match' your feeling afterwards. You can actually see the effort of goofy around. The finance one is kinda 'attacking' everyone with their out-of-touch antics. We're never linking it but since it was highschool classmate for a brief time; we just keep include the person in despite it was irritating. Total toxic. Everyone can be judgemental, but the 'Helen' type are so over-the-top that it makes you cringe like stroking fingernail over a chalkboard

What I think doesn't make sense is when everyone was already sweating from the food, Lillian hasn't yet at 2:52. She still looks regal and fresh lol

Once I went to a local nursery to explore plants, and I honestly dont know where it came from, my stomach suddenly started to hurt real bad. I could control even such things at that time. After Covid I cant. Before I could. Now I apreciate malls and their toilets so much more.

Sure, Melissa McCarthy was nominated for an Oscar for this role, but the way Kristen Wiig and Rose Burns play off each other in this scene and on the airplane scene is just outstanding acting in my opinion… I imagine Comedy is just as hard to act as Drama, and yet actors never get the awards for it…

Omg I hate weddings! I’d never pay 800 for a dress for someone’s wedding. I was a bridesmaid and they bought my dress for me.
I dont hate other peoples weddings where we get to eat nice stuff, see them in nice clothes and it is a huge social gathering. The cheer is almost always uplifting. Once I spoke to my mumm about me having a court marriage in future. My idea was to save on money & I thought I was doing her a favor by not putting the burden on her or anyone. What I faced afterwards added to my mental health decline. Supposedly she wanted me to get blessed by priests in Church and they consider only such weddings as real weddings. I didnt know about such a thing and I paid a heavy price. She herself didnt believe in Church weddings but she herself kept paying the price but I didnt know about any of that until my mental health & physical health suffered..Probably Church weddings blessed by priests never fail or never face damages big enough to say that it was Satan who won while God came for the Church wedded kids. It is going in the wrong way that make people suffer in marriages like adultery cheating etc..I feel that was the reason she reprimanded me so hard. I was so innocently and genuinely suggesting to save on costs, it was a one time thing. Why would I waste my hard earned money on it??

I had to pay 150 dollars for bridesmaids dress from David's Bridal. The dress was red, so I had to buy flats from David's Bridal that were custom dyed red (which also dyed my feet red). None of the price of the dress included alternations-which was the only way I could wear the dress since I'm 5 ft nothing. I ended up just cutting the skirt to the length I needed and dealt with the frayed hem. No food poisoning though thank goodness.
