    What a monster, never seen a ling fight like that before.

      Thanks for watching! The fight with that ling was pretty fun, especially since I didn't know what I was pulling up at first. I couldn't believe the size of the thing when I got it to the top.

      I would wager fish fight back no matter where they're hooked lol.

    Never have snagged on that big but you got it by the motor! My biggest is a bit over 60 and I have got one at 55 too. Love them and they taste good

      @wildanglestv  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That must have been a hell of a fight pulling in a 60lber, and even the 55.
      They're my favorite eating fish. Halibut is a close second but you have to make sure not to overcook it.

      @@wildanglestv yes they both initially pulled hard then like most just became lead till they got close to the surface then they headed back down and were unstoppable

    They look like big walleye and probably taste similar. I love cod and walleye. That looked like fun.

      It's probably my favorite fish to cook and eat. Makes a great fish fry.
      It's fun fishing for sure - never know what you're pulling up from the ocean floor and man can they bend a rod.

    What rod and reel for that monster

      I was using a Penn Carnage 6 ft medium/heavy jigging rod and a Penn Squall 40LD reel.

    Interesting how the lure is the same that is used in Newfoundland to catch Atlantic Cod. But they do not really give ant fight at all.

      I think we figured the fish might have been in an underwater cave, took the hook, and as we pulled on it, between the fish fighting and the cave walls that chafed the line, the hook got pulled out and got re-hooked in its back end. So we were pulling it up backwards and it had a chance to fight back that way.
      Had a similar thing happen with a sturgeon (you can see that video on here). 22 minutes of video, but it was hours of pulling that thing in, only to realize the hook got dislodged when the line went around another boat's anchor, and it got re-hooked in the fin.
      Pulling up an 8 foot sturgeon backwards is ridiculous. According to the charts, that would've been a 276 pound fish.

    I guess part of the secret is to get a bigger boat, so you can fish more often

      Haha for sure! I don't live near the ocean anymore so it's really beneficial to go with a charter that has all the gear.

    Y so big of gig, I use a butter knife with a bit of a twist. Cheap and really effective. I've caught 35+ lb ling and green ling with.
