He's certainly interesting but he also stands out so much because most TV content is so bad. Here in the UK, anyway.

Isnt it Christianity that says that we are better than animals. It isegotistical to think we are tge best.
They might do telepathy. , that would nean that they named each other. Anyway, in thought you dont need a name, just the memory of that animal with a fluffy tail or sone such. Just a visual image of the specues.
What do native Indians believe on the subject?
Would heaven be boring without tigers?
Why wouldn't God want them up there I wonder?

As a personal parallel , my own GP here in Germany explained very similar reasons for his administration of strong pain killers to me when I had severe pain due to an injury. He said - I translate - " Unrelieved severe pain can lead to long term nerve damage and to possible permanent disability and/or mobility issues. If we can lessen the pain, we can help your body work against the damage at a higher level of pro-activity, and by stimulating the nervous system ensure a better level of eventual recovery". It's, I think a wonderful explanation of the science behind pain control. They have huge hospitals and clinics here in Germany entirely dedicated to pain therapy.

I'm sorry. I know it's an overused term but Mr Fry really is a national treasure.
Theists like to think that the Bible's book of Genesis is the only real and true story of the world and our own beginning but that is only because it is familiar to us. There is no ostensible difference between any culture's creation myth and every culture has one.

A good teacher does NOT tell you what to think, they encourage you to think and discover for yourself.
I believe in that way Stephen has encouraged us all to look beyond what's right in front of us, and whilst I don't agree with some of the stances he's taken, I do find the fact it's a starting point to debate not a decree when he speaks...
I wish he'd do something like Time Team for ancient mythology, with a comparison between Greek, Nordic and others.

I absolutely adore that Mr. Fry _STILL_ breathes the very essence of Qi -- a warm hearth of learning and wonder -- into any conversation, all these years after the network replaced him with Ms. Toksvig. This conversation was enthralling and yet felt comfortingly familiar, an unexpected impromptu episode of Qi as it once was... "Qfry" if you will. It reminded me why I loved that show so much with Mr. Fry hosting. He was and apparently remains, the vital spark of that show.

The thing about the linear notion of explaining beginnings (turtles all the way down) is that there's an alternative concept: no first beginning and no ultimate ending - just isness, an underlying "state" that just *is* ... and always has been and always will be, something that had no beginning and so has no end.

Wonderful intellectual journey, as always when Stephen Fry is around... but I cannot help thinking... is the host a Max or a Checo fan?
