I had the pleasure to work with Tony Jay once. Oh boy was he a character, well, many characters... When his humor came out, no one could keep a straight face. I got to ask him about the Legacy of Kain games. He found working on them to be quite fun, that he got to use his Shakespearean training, with a cast that shared a common sense of humor. As such it reminded him of his younger acting days. That was in 2004. RIP You marvelous man.

I love these "Behind the Scenes" looks. Modern games don't even cover this any more and, truly, it's sad. There was so much more humanity then in game than there appears to be now.
I recently saw a interview with Simon Templeman and talked about he worked with Tony in the theater, toured together on one play even, before Simon got into voice acting. So, I watch this and think of it as two long time friends shooting the shit at work. Great stuff! RIP Tony Jay. You are eternal to me.❤

Tony had an AWESOME GIFT...!!! A TRULY diabolical voice when portraying evil characters. The Legacy of Kain video games were some of his best work in my honest opinion. I still have these games and play them. They are just that damn good.
The story plot and complexity, the music the atmosphere the puzzles the genius voice acting and shakespearien conversations , all those crown this franchise as the greatest ever made.
One of the best series of games in terms of stories I have ever played. Christ it's been over 20 years now since I played the first one (Legacy of Kain) and it truly is too bad that we will never see how the story ends.

Tony Jay was someone I had in mind for voices in many of my future projects (assuming I made it as a director), and I was crushed to hear that he had passed away. He'll always be immortalized in the same way many great people are: through his vocal contributions.
Yeah, that whole "Cosmic balance" thing gave me a chuckle too! There are a few times in "Styx Feet Under" when he seems actually amazingly gentle. When he talks about death's part in life, his face seems to glow. And then when he says, "Your sister made a trade" he has a look on his face both amused and impressed. It was the first time I've seen Simon relatively relaxed.
@Tighen31305 It's possible that they were recorded before he died, or that they got another voice actor to do them instead. There's an actor in hollywood who does voice overs that sounds almost exactly like him. He was in the Ratatoulli movie, the food critic.

Who, Michael Bell? He's always had a very youthful, natural sound to his voice. Heck, Raziel is largely his natural tone, just with a slight accent.

This is such a great for me. As one of countless fans who grew up hearing these actors, it warms the heart to see their more human aspects.
Tony's surgery was to remove a non-cancerous tumor from his lungs. He passed away due to complicatons approximately four months later.
