I just started working on All out KDA Akali cosplay and this tutorial couldn't have come at a perfect time! i already went ahead and got the pattern! Thank you so much for sharing on how you make your props and other cosplay accessories! I always have fun watching and giving your patterns a go! Keep up the awesome work Kinpatsu!!
These were all made using 3D models. Eric creates them in 3D (Normally Maya or Zbrush) Then he uses pepakura to turn the 3D models into a flat pattern. Then if necessary I make small alterations on the final pattern to work for foam :3
I got it from an airbrushing shop. It did still chip off a little paint which I had to fix. But the ones the airbrush shops sell are normally better quality for painting
I highly suggest vallejo air paints for your airbrush and/or ink acrylic paints. Createx is okay but due to their large particle sizes they run terribly in smaller/finer airbrushes, which can cause flow issues.
Oh I will definitely look into Vallejo more then! I know for sure the glitter and metallic paints for the airbrush are a pain to work with! But does Vallejo sell larger bottles of paint? That's the one thing I do like about the createx paints

However, pro wise: vallejo's metallics work super well in airbrushes due to their smaller particle size that is originally meant for minis. I have yet to find a gun metal color that works better than vallejo's yet.

No it doesn't help with flexibility. If you bend it it will still wrinkle and can crack sometimes. But it does help with brush strokes. So we like to use it for props and static armor pieces. But anything that moves a lot would be better with something like a hexflex or plastidip
Is it possible to do a full akali cosplay tuto ? I would love to have akali’s cosplay but sometimes the quality is not what we are expecting and it cost a lot of money...
@@shokoieiri_ we won't be doing a video tutorial for the costume unfortunately. We are hoping to try do a vlog style video showing the journey of making it, but it will not be a step by step tutorial like the ones we have done here on TH-cam for the weapons and seraphine wig :)
Hi I am a new subscriber and I love your work I just want to ask you a question since I don’t have the same materials that you use for your project so I used cardboard but I don’t know how to get that glossy look as if it’s a real weapon so what should I do?
I downloaded the files and already made the Kama but with the Kanai, did you include the blade piece you drew onto the foam board? I only have the details you cut in normal foam but can’t find the template bit for the main blade piece you cut on the foam board 😩
So how were you keeping the blade for cutting in shape. That part was pretty lacking imo. Like was that foam or like a sharpener? I know there are sharpeners.

Eric uses Maya for a lot of these and sometimes Zbrush as well depending on how organic the shape is :)

I love it! What kind of tape are you using? Sometimes my tape gets some of the paint off but yours works just fine!

PVA glue will also work on cardboard :) the glue makes the surface smooth and shiny for paint!

Yes it's part of the pattern! :3 it's only for half the blade so it needs to be mirrored. But its in the template for sure!
Do you have wig tutorial for akali where She has two colors on her hair, Black and blond.
What colour is the light blue paint you use for the base? It's not in the paint overview and I find it hard to figure out what you mixed.

You can just use some high grit sand paper to sharpen your blades between cuts :) or a knife sharpener works too.
