    I traveled 12 times to Paris. Parisians are amazing. Helpful, sharp, cultured and industrious.
    Learn the etiquette, it's more important than learning french.

    I visited Paris in 2015 and I love it. And I only speak English but the people were friendly and helpful. I have no complaints. I hope I can go back again

    Paris definitely has a unique and intoxicating atmosphere. Been many times and adore it. In fact I proposed there! Last time I took my my kids and they just were blown away by it.

    Visited Paris in 2022 and I must say the Parisians we the MOST friendly people! Not sure if it was because COVID kept tourists away for 2 yrs prior but I did not have a single bad encounter with all the Parisians we met! LOVE PARIS!!

      Totally agree, the only rule is try to speak some French, and they're the nicest people ever, at least in my experience. Paris, je t'aime

    I once left Paris to arrive at a conker tree, where I picked from its street its fruit.
    It was set near a harbour at Nice though I could not find an opponent to contest with.
    I returned of course to the city by nightfall and joined again queues of people for food.
    I was a wandering lone man of poverty then and shall never forget her kindness.
    She kept me alive and free of harm and even taught me of art and her neighbourhood charms.
    Kind regards
    LM

    When you come from Russia, Parisiens are so friendly and smiling a lot.

  • @johnjeanb
    @johnjeanb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    This is not totally true. Sure there are all sorts of Parisians but usually, if you start by saying bonjour and then try to ask your question using a few French words, you get helped and smiled at EVERY TIME. Also remember that during holidays (July August) there are more visitors / tourists than Parisian. So are you sure you asked a Parisian?

    • @jeffreywalsby4878
      @jeffreywalsby4878 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true. I tried using my OK High School French on Parisians and was repeatedly spoken to in English, so using French doesn't necessarily endear you to them. I say so what, The world is learning English not French. Snobby Parisians need to get a life.

    • @johnjeanb

      @@jeffreywalsby4878 Trying to speak in French showed your desire to communicate. As a courtesy they answered in English. Is this so rude?

      In the public transport people are more grumpy, especially at peak hour. But it's totally normal as they are exhausting, there are a lot of people and you are called every other minute for some reason by a stranger (beggar, lost tourist, advertisements etc...). It requires a too much energy to answer politely to all these so they prefer ignoring them. At other times of the day, people are more friendly, they are not 5 ppl/sq m in a train going to/back from work which is not really happy. It is just the reality of the life in Paris that causes this mood especially in public transportation.
      Moreover most of the so called 'parisians' are ppl from Province that came there to work/study. There is no such think as normal people vs alien Parisian.

    What's not to like? As someone who has actually lived there several years:
    - Overpriced real-estate
    - Traffic and regular subway strikes (= national sport)
    - Pickpockets everywhere
    - Dog shit and piss (people walking their dogs let their dogs piss on every car wheel they walk by)
    - Some unsafe ghetto neighborhoods with graffiti everywhere
    Nice place to visit perhaps, but I wouldn't want to live there again.

    C'est génial comme les Français arrivent à créer des mythes autour de rien ! Paris est une belle ville comme les autres et personnellement je ne vois rien de spécial chez les Parisiens (même les critiques négatives sur les Parisiens me semblent inexistantes).

    • @noefillon1749

      La vie stressante et les multiples arnaques font qu'ils sont souvent méfiants envers les autres, et ne communiquent pas beaucoup avec les personnes qu'ils croisent. Par expérience, les transports en particulier sont épuisants tant on croise de monde, on est constamment sollicités par qqn pour x ou y raison (mendiants, publicités, personnes qui demandent leur chemin etc...), ce qui fait que ça demande beaucoup trop d'énergie (parisien ou non) d'avoir des interactions sociales normales avec tout ce monde. Dans les transports, en particulier quand il y a énormément de monde, en heure de pointe, ne comptez pas beaucoup sur le sourire et l'aide des gens. Mais ce n'est pas propre aux parisiens, c'est juste humain. Le reste du temps, je n'ai rien remarqué de très différent effectivement.

    Il n’y a pas que Paris intra-muros et la province, il y a aussi le reste de l’agglomération parisienne: environ 10 millions de personnes quand même (au-delà du périphérique)!! Plus toutes les infrastructures économiques (La Défense par exp) scientifiques et culturelles (médias, universités), et les plateformes aéroportuaires reliant la France au monde, qui font de l’Ile-de-France le véritable cœur de la société française. Ne parler que du Paris des 20 arrondissements c’est ignorer la réalité de Paris et ses enjeux actuels

    • @noefillon1749
      @noefillon1749 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apres la question concernait plus les habitants et les touristes que l'économie de la ville ou de la France. Et bien que beaucoup de "banlieusards" soient très régulièrement intransigeants muros (pour travailler par exemple), il y a une vrai différence entre Paris et la banlieue, sur l'architecture, les populations qui y vivent, la densité de sites touristiques (mondialement connus), le nombre de touristes étrangers, la densité des transports etc...

I spend half my time chasing after people and following up on things, so I get why you would have that impression. It just a different pace of life and you get used to it eventually. My italian colleagues, on the other hand, find that things move too quickly here. Go figure!
