As ive said, this Hello of Lionel Richie is a trademark song. If you don't know Dimash, you will hate this version. But, but... BUT!!!! try listening to it like 3-5x times and you'll appreciate this verdion of Dimash. How he Dimashified this all time hit song Hello. :)

Thank you for your reaction - really enjoyed it. I like Lionel Ritchie's version of this song , I know it very well, must have heard it thousands of times. When I heard Dimash sing it the first time, I was stunned and wondered what happened and so I listened again and again, and found I really love it. I am really appreciating the reactors - I don't think I could form a fully informed opinion hearing the song after hearing it only once, especially if the song takes an unexpected turn. Great job!

I'm with you 100%. The first time I heard it I didn't really understand what he was doing. The original version has a slight haunting feeling to it. Dimash picked up on that, emphasized that feeling throughout the song and brought it home with the bridge and the ending. After many listenings I appreciate his version much more.
I will be 50 years old next year, and in the past this song of Lionel Richie was my favourite for a long time. It used to give me very deep emotions because of some events that happened in my life, when I first heard Lionel singing it. When I heard the version of Dimash, I was very surprised (though I knew I would be), and also triggered by my stereotypes (cause I loved Lionel's version a lot in the past, though I didn't listen to it for quite some time). I also knew that I had to listen to Dimash several times to understand what He wanted to say, not Lionel. When Dimash sings he tries to express his own emotions in every song, to convey his own vision of what he is singing about. And this is what he did with this song as well. Whenever I travel to Arabic countries and hear this call for prayer from the mosques, it sounds kinda scary but beautiful at the the same time. We all know that after all Dimash is Muslim (a very peaceful one!!! A person who just wants to bring peace and love to this world), and to me his melisma sounded as a prayer to God and Dears. To God - because he received such a beautiful gift (his voice, though we all know how much he has been working on it), and he can share this gift with the people, and bring them joy and happiness. To his Dears (especially in China) - for accepting him as he is (I mean his unique and unusual way of singing), for loving an supporting him. I see it as his "thank you prayer". But I can also feel it as his call for people one year ago (when he came to China). As if he wanted to cry: "Listen to me! I can bring you relief and joy, make your life at least a little happier! Is it me you are looking for?!" And a lot of people heard him and felt it. So let's not compare the two versions of this song! Everyone of them sang it beautifully, and expressed his own feelings in it. And we heard and felt both of them.

Я просмотрела весь его репертуар на ютубе он пел песни на 9 языках - казахский ( само собой ) , русский , английский, украинский(Я люблю тильки тебе), сербский ( Это Балканы ), турецкий ( Gezi baglari ), итальянский (konfessa ), французский ( S.O.S ), и китайский !!!!!!!!!!!!! Спасибо Славянскому базару ! Справедливо!!! А вот китайцы в этом году ( 2018 ) дали 1 место Джесси, которая пела исключительно на английском, у нее собственных песен нет, правда голос хороший- но - не может никто из них передать песню зрителю ни душой.ни голосом , до Димаша им всем далеко. Так обидно за него !!!!!!!!!!! Девочка была конкуренткой Джесси ( кажется, из Гонконга ) , так свалили ее. Ну. да ладно !

What I like about Dimash, that even in his high register he doesn't really sound like a girl, his voice is more powerful. For me it's more like musical instruments.
And yes - his low register just WOW!

Hi Jang...I heard comments saying that the song is unrecognizable... To me however, true artist should not copy , true artist should make it new and different and that is what Dimash did beautifully, he added mystical ,lightly oriental feel to it and I personally love it, love it, love it!!! If I may, I do find this arrangement rather bizarre. But then Dimash is Dimash and he is exact and perfect in just about everything he does. In this song though, he could have showcased his voice without going into this somewhat weird bridge. I did try and send the link to Lionel Richie. I hope he gets it and likes it.

Hi Jang! Best Regards from Brazil! Well, probrably you're not going to see this because I'm writing it almost 2 moths after you posted this video, but I'd like to express my feelings about this Dimash presentation anyway. For me, this song is a real declaration of love and thankfullness addressed to his "Dears" (sorry for my broken English!). It's difficult to express this in another language but, I'll try it. ;) The way he changes the lyrics in some parts (changing the pronoun I to You, and saying I love you in chinese), and the musical arrengement that was produced (including that melisma, pipes???, in the middle of the song, which represents his origin and beliefs), made this song and this performance more meaningfull and more emotional. This return to where everything started, not as the unknown young boy from one year ago, but as an international celebrity, thanks to the great support of his fans, probably made him use this moment as an opportunity to thank to all his fans from all around the world.
This version of Hello by DImash sent me to a state of full bliss. I have not come down yet.

HELLO! Loved your reaction Jang. In fact I never liked a song too much until now, in Dimash arrangement, not my style of music, Lionel. Still a beautiful song. And from the first note of that Kazakh flute instrument I felt something extraordinary will happen. And it did, true fantasy, awesome performance, I could relate it to feeling when I heard S.O.S, for the first time. And there were changes on that one too and some French didn't like his arrangement and his messed up with French, but mayority of the world did. A lot. And he was invited immediately after that to Paris to Sebastian's show. Adagio also, congratulated by Lara, she loved it. I don't know why people have fears of new, and most of musicians can recognise it easily, when something is extraordinary. I love experiments and artism, especially from Dimash. He just can't miss, only once he did with Bruno Mars - never again...His English is a lot better and I can see that in short time he will be ready for western career. Just in time when he will be able to leave China. He is doing everything very clever, with precise plan and selfdevelopment on many levels. I'm so happy seeing him in this moment of time and following his way to Stardom.

Thnx for the heads up. Agree, Dimash is back on stage with another revival song worth watching over and over again! Lionel Ritchie will be happy with his rendition and introduction of another yet big hit song "Hello" to the new generation at a different level. Listening to his version is somewhat different in the beginning but it builds up more and more appreciation toward the end as he incorporates his signature vocal acrobatics with the original melody. Words can’t express how much I love Dimash singing this. It’s a completely different take on the original song. I wish Lionel would allow him to sing it again.
What Dimash did with it - reminds me of the quote "Dimash does not do covers." The made the song a yearning from the heart...and what he did musically, crying "hello" ever higher into the empty spaces, the turns and melismas, omg this is *his* Hello.
Dimash wouldn't be Dimash if he didn't make his own interpretation of this song...his trademark embellishments added something new to it...love his voice, his performance, his stage presence...our Prince is truly one of a kind...

About the song, the truth is the first time I heard him I felt strange because my ear was used to the original sound .. I liked it, but it sounded strange. It took me some secs to realize that in fact it was our Dimash singing, with that unique way of his! And now I can only recognize this song as "Dimash's" ! It always happens with him! It's strange! Hope you understood what I meant! You are objective as always and I love your ways of speaking yourself out. Very polite!

CHILLIN' BRIDGE PART! indeed. Need to mention the use of the Tibetan horn which produces that deep growling awe inspiring sound. I'm almost certain the Tibetan horns were used in pairs as is the traditional costum. The entire section also inspired by traditional Tibetan chant. What a great hommage to the chinese also creating a "mystical" experience for the listeners.

First of all I want to say I found myself chuckling when you commented, during the performance that Dimash's English has improved because I was saying to myself "Wow!, Dimash's English has dramatically improved!" I really enjoyed your reaction comments to Dimash's performance because I was in agreement with you on so many of the levels/points you mentioned. Personally, Dimash did not disappoint me with his rendition of "Hello". Because of his vocal talents/skills plus his ability to convey his emotions, he made this interpretation his "OWN". I continue to be captivated by his range, his ability to easily manipulate his vocal skills, the power of his delivery, and his ability to always bring something new to his performance. This just simply amazes me!. I think we are all blessed to be witness to a great young artist blossoming into a true musical phenomena. You are so right! I had goosebumps through the entire song. It was a perfect blend of Lionel Richie's version with both traditional Chinese and Kazakh influences. I think the lyrics meant something completely different for him though. "You're all I've ever wanted, my arms are open wide." He was singing directly to his fans and I could feel him trying to hold back his emotions. I don't know how he didn't cry because I did.

Great reaction to an AMAZING performance. I agree that Dimash took this and made it his own, completely different from what Lionel Richie did when he wrote/performed this. Perhaps you heard this already, but Dimash had a hand in the arrangement along with the arranger for the show ‘The Singer’ and he also produced it himself. In my opinion this performance shows the growth from all the experiences that the Dimash has had over the last year, personally and professionally. I heard a rumor that he originally was supposed to sing the song last year during the competition, but I’m glad that he opted to do Opera 2 instead as his experiences over the last year added to help make this one unforgettably moving and especially emotive performance. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This song was produced by Dimash so it it is all him. I am stunned by this performance every time I watch it. His ethereal chants move me to an emotional place like no other...I say he is calling all angels, because that is how it makes me feel. I was obviously more moved than you, but I didn't have to react to it either. We were first told it was Lionel Riches song and then Adele's misinformation for sure. His English is very good in this song and I personally like the accent. Thank you for your reaction, although, to be honest, I was hoping it would have been a little more emotional and not so clinical. But that is your purpose here, right, to give the clinical approach to the song.
Diane Shoaf yes... ill be honest, lionel's version can make me more emotional than dimash. Dimash is somehow, a majestic version. A soundtrack one. So with that, i go clinical.
It felt like that he had to add some high notes and Silk road chanting to prove that he's Dimash-gift from the God (and I'm a fan and he's the gift from the God). The bridge is a bit too abrupt music style wise. Later on there are some subtle touch points that brought it back to the song, but the bridge could have been refined a little more. Once he's fully matured as an artist, he would be more confident about his music and probably would make better music choices.
The beautiful thing about music is that it affects us all differently; good, bad, or indifferent, there is always a reaction. I am hearing something that perhaps you, Jang, and others are not hearing, .As I stated, his chants take me to an emotional place, I have never been. Call it unworldly, celestial, spiritual but it is ethereal and I am so glad I am experiencing this and wish that you could feel it too.!!! I don't try to look for flaws...I just listen and feel...if I ever get to the place where I no longer feel his passion and only listen to critique I will stop listening. And apparently unbeknownst to you, , there is a reason Dimash chose this song.

Just talk when you want to talk! I like to listen to you as you speak during music. It's interesting to hear what you like just when it's playing. I do not know who told you that you're talking too much, but I like it sometimes when you say something during the song. Being overwhelmed and having to say something DOES NOT mean you will not enjoy the music. So behave how YOU WANT it to be natural and enjoyable.

I have to disagree with you on this Jang. I didn't know Dimash and I didn't hate his version, on the contrary I fell in love. I am new to him and this epic interpretation made me his instant fan. after watching this, I've watched every single performance by him and I am absolutely in love. music has no boundries. and this version touches my soul as Lionel Richie's original touches. this is like same song in some sort of different musical language.
