Secret of Mana is one of the greatest games ever to me, it has a ton of nostalgia attached to it and made me a huge fan of Mana over the years. I missed a couple of games over time but have been playing what I missed and most of them have left a favorable impression on me. As soon as I saw this had a collectors edition i preordered it because the footage looked so fun. I'm very happy to see that this looks to be worth the purchase and the time. Now to decide if I want to try the demo or wait for the full meal! Thanks DG!
I'm all here for a lighter toned game, but much like with Secret of Mana, I hope it gets heavier towards the end. It was all fun and games in Secret, until the sunken continent got risen, and then got even heavier when the Mana Fortress showed up. Just the music while flying Flammie during those parts alone, made it feel so much more dire towards the end :D
Played Secret of mana 1 and 2 back in the day. And loved them to death. I am now 35 and sat down with the biggest of smile playing the demo this morning. This one is gonna be amazing. Preordered.
Trials of Mana was my intro to the series on Switch back in 2020 and I really enjoyed that game. Visions looks like that x Tales of Arise which is great imo. I'll get it on Nintendo next console or PS5 Pro next year
The games are all colorful, but I think that the first two games (Final Fantasy Adventure and Secret of Mana) were the only ones entirely whimsical and lighthearted in tone. Seiken Densetsu 3 was fairly dark and serious by 1995 SNES standards, with all six of the prologues featuring depressing stuff. Legend of Mana was bright and colorful visually but somewhat melancholic in tone.
I wanna compare it to GranBlue Relink. its still like Trials of Mana, i felt some scenes are laggy even on performance thats like a small issue. I wish there were a longer combos in attacks
@@DS-ws2eqyes and they stack. If you get the hold square and hold triangle button from one tree you can use it with another I guess as long as the weapon type is the same.
Oh my god Eternal Sonata. I’m in LOVE with the art style. There also seems to be some great depth to the combat, it all seems pretty insane especially since its action based instead of turn based (per tradition with the mana series). Loved it so much and hope it delivers. Definitely buying it.
I’m playing the PS4 demo. And Wow! It’s pretty good. But after the Boss Fight the Visuals start to Chug. But I do think these issues are being ironed out in the Alpha Demo.
Just played the demo, as soon as they started talking I already said to myself nope! I'm done, but I let it play out but even the combat is sluggish and boring. Not for me I guess, which is fine.
They demo framerrate is not optimized and the combat feels floaty. I am very disappointed. Seems like a nostalgia cash grabat this point that could have been so much more
the combat is…really bad and clunky compared to granblue relink, where combat felt really fluid. The Demo was a complete let down for me as a secret of mana 1 and 2 fan. Sadly not gonna buy.
Great review, nice job! Personally I love this it feels so whimsical and fun. My son (He is 8) loved watching me play and then enjoyed playing it. Specially the bright colors and creatures.

Thanks for the review max, I also grew up with mana on the snes and crono trigger, ff2, ff3 etc...those were good days.
You can change classes out combat. Combo upgrades are shared between classes with the same type of weapons (3 weapon types per character), while passives are class specific
@@jhon1406 you equip a spirit outside of battle and get a class, you can play that class for as long as you have the spirit equipped ( cannot have the same spirit equipped in 2 different characters ), so you can freely change classes all the time, but to learn class skills and passives you need spirit points ( in the demo those were limited but i bet in the final release we will be able to get a lot of points to max all classes )

It will be in fact in the 2nd area for battles the FOREST like area theirs a Ruined CASTLE like area FAR NE corner of the forests map TOO bad NOT only are the enemies at LV 14 so that a LV 10 party can't really beat them but due to LV 10 party members in the demo those enemies can easily kill you NO matter which JOB classes you USE in the Demo like in 1 HIT 80+ damage while you can barely DAMAGE THEM in return. Theirs also a TIMED trial battle against a lv 15 Golem enemy (the same enemy as the lv 14 ones via the Ruined Castle area) but I couldn't win THAT fight in the Demo either.
Completely new style of gameplay? This system is a carbon copy of Trials of Mana. I was really disappointed by the demo. It's really not that visually impressive for a PS5 game, the characters look like badly animated shiny dolls. The voice acting is almost as terrible as Trials too. The teaser videos from a while ago looked so promising... It felt like an open-world game with lots of exploration etc, but the demo made me feel like I was playing Trials of Mana but with new characters: linear exploration, lots of chaotic encounters. I hope the demo is not too representative of the final product.
