I thought last year was pretty good, but this year is even better. I don't think any of the songs are bad this year, just a few mediocre ones. My top 5 is Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Lithuania, and the Netherlands. Honorable mentions for France, Norway, and Croatia.

Excellent analyzes of Portugal's staging are already coming out. 8:15 Jan Bors's has one of them. In fact, 3 things were needed for this impressive result: bravery, rigor and genius. The final descending shot in which from the big cube it slides to iolanda+inner demons continues smoothly with the music. Brilliant.
Marina Satti gave a lot of interviews today and she said that the theme of the choreography is the cameraman following her throughout the song without cuts, edits and many visuals and she and her dancers won't be able to hide certain moments ie the handkerchief pulling. This is because she wanted the performance to feel more candid and not too "processed" in order to resemble the rawness and the randomness of the music video. She said every rehearsal has ended up looking different because of this component of the interaction with the camera man and the exposure to him. Which means that it is expected that a few moments will appear less technical, less perfect, more "real". Imo the real challenge though will be for the audience to pick up on that this was her intentional approach. Let's hope 🙏🎲🧿

The only information that I gathered from this video is that we are losing 11 good songs in the semis. The quality and variety is incredible. It is so much stronger than chart music.

i love the fact that the Netherlands didn't cut out the ending and decided to add subtitles. Most of the song's meaning is understandable without knowing Dutch, so it's great to actually know the deeper stuff even if it's your first time watching
Italy had to do it too! (And many other countries I guess) I love when Angelina sings acapella 'I die cause dying, makes the days more human, I live cause suffering, it's one of the biggest joys'.

For example here in Finland there are all the songs available subtitled in Finnish or Swedish or without any subtitles. It is sometimes interesting to see how they translated some wordplays that work only in the original language.

This stage is just huge...and it does not work with most of performances. A shot must be close, which then takes away from screen in the background and lights. If it is too far, then a performer is lost on the stage. I have always wondered how much do delegations know about the stage and its possibilities before they come, because year after year there are perogrmances which you can see that were imagined for a different stage.

I don't know about anyone else but watching this roundup made me emotional. I'm literally crying! The quality this year is insane and the winner is not obvious! I'm so excited and proud of the artists. I haven't felt this way since Eurovision 2018 ... and tbh, I think this year is better!
