Very Very useful information. Thank you 🙏🏻...... Brahmin "s Tamil is Super. ( speaking Style is excellent)
This is how we speak at home. No special effort. Thank you 😊😁
I have always & still use only cotton sarees. Since, I was a teacher it was comfortable wearing only cotton sarees for work. I would make the same Kanji before going to bed at night & starch saree15 sarees at one go & dry them in our terrace. Heavy starch for all cottons & the diluted starch for all silk & printed silk sarees. Nothing can match the elegance & grandeur of cotton & simple printed silk sarees
Thank you for sharing your thoughts here. Cotton sarees are beautiful 😍

This is an age old technique. But new for youngsters. You can add a spoon of rice floor Or sabudana powder. The same kanji you can use for washing hair with shikakai. Gives lovely bouncy hair.
A tip from dhobi. When it's hot, swirl a candle two or three times. Will give a glow like mercerised fabric.

Nice mami 👍
Thank you 😊
Very nice demonstration and very helpful tips to all those who love wearing cotton saris.
There is nothing as elegant as starched and pressed cotton saris.
My mother proved this on every occasion.
Thank you Ma'am🙏
Thank you so much 😊😊. Very elegant and very stylish look, you can create.
In days gone by Indian women took great pride in the way they dressed with a few simple touches, such as wearing crisply starched cotton saris, with their hair tied in a neat bun, and a veni of fresh jasmine flowers encircling it, a nice pottu.....and they looked so regal.
My mother was one such person. No matter what the occasion , she preferred her Khatau , Calico and Finlay voile saris to Kanjeevarams , georgettes and chiffon.
Even well past 90 she went about her work at home, impeccably attired in beautiful cotton saris starched to perfection, that when she moved around , she had the confidence of a queen.
Some aspects of our Indian culture, which endowed the Indian woman with grace and charm, will always remain timeless.
I am learning it a little too late 😊
@sarahp1383 Such a beautiful write up. Very well written. I am just visualising. Thank you 😊😊
@latascookbook9817
Ma'am you have paid a nice tribute to a truly golden era by reviving an interest in wearing beautifully starched cotton saris.
There is nothing to match that touch of class.
So I have you to thank.
Please share details about cotton saree shopping from where you bought at a cheaper rate ma . i am asking for everyone
I bought it from Kolkata. Sarees you ll get for cheaper rate.

Thanks for the video. I too am a cotton sari enthusiast and i starch and iron most of my saris myself. However, i make the starch from sago and it gives a good result.
Thank you 😊
Thank you for fine tips. What can we add to kanji if sarees are dark colored to mask the white color?
You can add few drops of blue. சொட்டு நீலம். TQ 😊
I add few drops of neelam or black ink, sometimes turmeric powder too.
TQ
Tks.amma❤
Welcome 😁
Superb mam

Super 10/11/24

Many years ago, when I used to starch the sarees and give it for ironing, the dhobi asked me not to use maida because they tend to stick and the saree can tear in the process
That can happen with any starch. You have to handle the saree very carefully.
Yes Naanum ippadithan poduvean
Good 👍
ஜவ்வரிசி பவுடர் பண்ணி கஞ்சி போடலாம்..still easy good nfaric will shine...no.need to.iron too
How to prepare mam?
You can grind 1 kg of Javvarisi in a flour mill and store it. Just like how Mam mixed maida, you can dissolve ஜவ்வரிசி in cold water and pour it in the hot water and the rest is the same method. The saree needs ironing.
@@priyaramamurthy2489 OK mam. Thank you 😊
Good 👍. But ironing is must.
Neenga. Badhmini. Pola irukkeenga super
Iththana naala jothika...ini Padminiya? 😂
Super ma
Thank you
I was using fine sago (javvarisi) powder which we could get in Salem. Sarees would look new. But now I am not getting sago powder of that superfine quality.
Search other options.
You can use javvarisi ( sabudana )powder also
Yes yes..TQ
You can use corn flour in the same way
Yes yes
Very beautiful saree.what was the cost of the saree when you bought
Below 1000... Very old one. Thank you
I love to see your videos mami. pls give us more information like this.
Thank you so much 😊
