There's a derivation of this for massive strength building, called reverse pyramid sets. I like to do the highest 10 rep weight I can, then cut it to two thirds and do 20, then one third and do 40-50 reps. You literally go until you can't lift anything. And to make it even worse, you can go up, then half way down and stop, then back up and down. I don't consider it a successful workout if I can comfortably walk out of the place. Lol I've had to just sit in the car for a while because I couldn't physically drive.

I put a solar panel system together with a crew for the LaLanne estate some 9 years ago and his wife was the sweetest woman. She contacted our boss saying that we were a "cracker-jack team". When our crew pulled off the job she gave us each a linen grocery bag with his likeness embroidered on it. It held 3 exercise dvds featuring LaLanne as well as T-shirts, a workout routine poster, and a hand written letter to each member of the crew by name. The LaLanne family is amazing.

I don't have a lot of training in nutrition, but it was a very small part of my degree, and you learned very quickly that nutrition is very much like law school, the answer is almost always "it depends". It doesn't help that a lot of it is pretty archaic information to begin with (like a lot of Health classes at school still teach the whole "fat is the enemy" thing from the 80s)

I think that the notion that all dairy is bad is because more and more people are being diagnosed with being lactose intolerant now (not always correctly as a close relative of mine was thought to be that but was actually IBS) , not necessarily because there are more people who are lactose intolerant than a couple decades ago (though that could still be a possibility with overall health genetics wise decreasing) , but because we have more means to diagnose people with different intolerances . (Again not always correctly as with many diagnoses not just the "food related" ones , I am on the Autism Spectrum and have ADHD and know that many who have some type/range on the spectrum get misdiagnosed or don't get a formal diagnosis and have to self diagnose because it can be harder to "spot" (mostly girls as girls are generally better at "masking" or "blending in to fake it till you make it"). Anyway back to the original topic as I kinda ranted to get to a point , I agree it depends although a large part of that I would think is because of the conflicting info out there that keeps changing and because most people just go "dairy free" , "gluten free" , or "red meat free" because that is "what's trendy". Sorry for the VERRY round-a-bout way of saying that and I hope that that makes sense. :)

Different bodies process different things better or worse and naturally have higher or lower blood pressure, difficulty putting on weight or alternatively and more commonly keeping it off...and in a more ideal world people could reasonably get personalized advice on how to get the nutrients and other things they need to be healthy, instead of in my own experience mostly a lot of attempts to claim that one approach absolutely is the answer for everyone and that health issues only exist if they're something that can be treated (or at least the symptoms can be treated) by taking a pharmaceutical or over the counter drug. So yeah, it at least sounds like Jack LeLane regardless of any other issues he may have had as a person did at least try to push things in a direction closer to that ideal setup for health and nutrition, where health isn't just a lack of injuries or illnesses to be treated.

After getting your license to sell insurance, you'll know that nearly all people - regardless of how they live their lives in terms of food and exercise, it basically comes down to 5 main factors: 1) Body weight 2) Height 3) Drinking/smoking/drug abuse 4) Preexisting conditions and/or family history 5) Gender So basically, if you're tall, heavy, but otherwise very healthy, you may likely still live fewer years than a skinny short guy who drinks and houses fast food 3+ days a week. Since most people die (more than any other cause) from heart issues, it's basically just about how hard your heart has to work to run your body (bigger bodies make the heart work harder). So, while there's plenty of studies that show exercising and eating healthy foods can improve your physical health - it almost doesn't matter what you do in the aggregate - as many of the most significant factors are completely outside your control.
When I was around 5 I begged my mom to buy me the Jack Lalain Juicer. She always juiced weird vegetables and fruit combos that tasted weird. It was worth it. I wanted to pay Mr Lalain back. By the time I was 7 I swam handcuffed to tow Alcatraz island to shore so Jack didnt have to swim back and forth towing boats anymore.
