Personally, I would colour half of one block and write down the name and number of that colour next to it.
I also punch a hole in each colour so I can properly see if the colour matches with the colour on a image.

An alternative to the ring to bind the pieces is a keychain hook

Good ide. If you make a Hole in all the Colour, you can compare the colour of the item you drawing.

This is Lovely.. I've looked back on my pages, and I quickly realized I never did choose colors beforehand.. I just did it.. I look at them and I wish my imagination worked as well as simply choosing colors lol.. I Love you Art!!! Never did Swatches, they are actually a good idea..Just humm looks soo long to do..I asked my son, who when trying my pencils out, he also arranged them how they work together..He is AMAZING at drawing. MORE Than 3D.. I learned the 2 point perspective, he did too he said, but he is WAYY Past that.. Enjoy, I Appreciate All you do..teaching us!!🙏🙏🙏🤟

Thank you for demonstrating this project - looking for an alternative to traditional full page swatch charts.

Where are you, Claire, with this project? Have you created swatch cards for other pencil sets?

Thanks for the video! Nice clear directions. Has anyone used a thermal laminator on their cards? I was wondering if the heat changed the colors.

I think I would print the blocks first before cutting, I'm lazy with rulers

I would advise you to draw the 2 cm lines on the A4 before cutting it into 4cm strips.

This looks so worth taking the time to make! I will definitely make one-thanks for posting the color.groups! I might even think of doing another for favorite blends and we cou!d label them for what we use... Ie; flowers, leaves, trees, fur, chrome, skin, hair. I guess the possibilities are endless!😀 Thanks again!

This is a great idea. Having the strips laminated will help protect as well as add a bit of life to them. (Local art shop will add the little ring at the top when laminating too)

LOVE THIS, you can see what colors blend well together with this idea. I think I would laminate them using just a clear non glare shelving paper... THANK YOU Claire for sharing your ideas as well as others... Happy Coloring!! ;)

What a sweet idea! I missed it on the FB group, so I'm glad you put it here. When you do your Prismacolors, will you share it with us please? This is a brilliant idea. It's like what interior designers do with paint chips).

  • @naturegirl2110

Why don't you laminate it so the colors won't rub off and keep your swatches clean? Just a sugesstion so they can last longer.

I'm looking forward to making my swatch booklets. Time saving tip: mark both short edges of the full A4 page with the 2cm increments, then draw the lines across the full page, guillotine the marked strips from the A4 sheet.

Another idea for those of you who use coloured pencils to add depth to your alcohol marker colouring is punch a hole in each colour and you can then lay the swatch over your marker swatches to get the closest colour. I do this with my Polys and Promarkers

This is a great idea, thank you for sharing. Useful tip: a quicker and more accurate way to use a ruler is to keep it in one place and mark off every two cm, rather than using that small 2cm at the end and moving it each time. That would make the process much quicker. HTH 😊

I have a question I hope you can answer. I got my Polychromos back in April and as soon as I found this video I promptly made these swatches. I have used them every single time I use these pencils. These swatches are fabulous!! However, it took me until today to realize that either I have made a mistake while making these or the color that I have missing on my swatches is not on the list of colors in the description above. Please let me know where 155 Helio-Turquoise would go in these swatches. I’m not quite sure where to put it and I love using these swatches and would love to add this last color to them. Thank you so much for your time. I absolutely love your tutorials!! :)

If so... could u pleez fill me in on the different color grouping? I would really appreciate it . Thanks a bunch, and keep up the beautiful work. God bless

Great idea. My additions would have centre blank so you can put the pencil number (ie you don't have flip over) in it and then one side is coloured on the tooth of the paper and the other is burnished. This will give you a feel of what the color looks like when you lay it down vs final burnish.

    • @pentachronic
      @pentachronic 5 ปีที่แล้ว

As far as the ring binder is concerned, if you want cheap, get some paracord and thread through. Melt the ends and flatten them and then melt them together. You can cut and replace when you add more. Probably a good idea to leave a few blanks on the swatch anyway. I would also use some sticky tape to reinforce the holes for the binder.
