Yea man I've heard of transdev. They're not just running shitty bus systems in Melbourne, they also own Nassau Inter County Express (NICE bus) in Long Island, New York. NICE used to be run by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), but it was sold to Transdev in 2012 under then Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano as a result of the MTA having some kind of funding issue. It doesnt help that New York's Governor, Andrew Cuomo is cutting funding to the MTA (he may well be re elected this year as he won the Democrat Primary) the MTA would have the buses well maintained and running on time. However, NICE has buses that are in TERRIBLE condition and almost never SHOW UP, let alone run on time. There is only one depot and 4 or 5 mechanics FOR THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. Much of the buses have no AC, a real problem with New York's hot summers. If that's not bad enough, the buses will not stop even if the engine or oil pressure alarm goes off. THAT WILL RUIN THE ENGINE. Buses have also been run with COLLAPSED SUSPENSIONS. There are no buses ever sent out to fill a missing run, leaving riders stranded. TH-camrs like PinePowerLI and Andy's Randomness have several videos of NICE bus breakdowns. I'm not saying public-private bus systems are all bad, here in Westchester County we have a bus system run by a private contractor, Liberty Lines (Bee Line Bus), which also receives support and funding from the Westchester County Government. MTA has never had control of Westchester Bee Line Bus although Westchester Is the First County north of New York City. Transdev needs to go out of business imho
I feel like Melbourne Bus has many unnecessary routes. Why provide a route when no one even goes on it? Anyways, all routes are the same in my area, city to the pines, city to Westfield, city to Ringwood. Ugh Melbourne transport is rlly inconvenient lol
