Inbreeding do occur but it's rare. Rhesus macaque females don't mate with relatives. Rhesus macaques have a really good face recognition and they also recognise their father's even if they haven't grown up with him around. 🤓🏴☠️🇸🇪🇺🇦🕊
I'm curious about that too. Do they know to avoid mating with their sisters and Mum. I suppose the other problem is that some of the monkeys are half-siblings as they could have the same Dad. So Barry might not have sex with Bessy or Bossy for example but he could be a half-sibling or other relation to some of the other females.
It happens that male relatives to females court them but the females don't mate with them. They can groom them but no mating but everything has an exception or a few but it's rare 🤓🏴☠️🇸🇪🇺🇦🕊
I believe Barry and Barney have been snipped. As have several of Bossy's daughters. But, yes, without that there would be inbreeding. As they are probably son's of the Alpha before Grandee: Cocky. As are probably many daughters of Cocky remaining in the troop and of breeding age.
Several reasons. One female ( I forget her name but she's in Bossy's troup) lost rank due to her birthing only son's. Sons leave the troop and contribute little to the strength of the troop (Bossy's sons, not especially grandee, have been ousting the juvenile males from the troop at sometimes extraordinarily early ages). Babies are a strength overall for the troop, but until they reach even a juvenile age they only take resources from the troop (mom's attention to baby/young adolescent rather than the defense of the troop. And food, they take food resources that would be able to be consumed by other contributing members of the troop). They cannot defend the troop. More recently Ridgie (and her family) lost rank due to her being very close to grandee. Most if not all of Ridgie's children were sired by Grandee. Grandee doted on his children. Especially his daughters. From the point that their moms would allow the kids to leave their mothers arms they would be hovering around Grandee. This was especially true of Ridgie's daughters. When grandee was ousted from the Alpha position Ridgie lost rank. You could see that she was not accepted in the locations that the other high ranking families any more. When the registered feeders came to distribute foodstuffs Ridgie (and family) hung back and waited until the lower ranked macaques were able to approach the food. Before Grandee was ousted she and hers would approach the feeders along with the rest of the high ranking.
These monkeys are so well behaved compared to the Cambodian macaques. These mothers are so loving and caring and protective of Thier babies and do is the whole troop. Cambodian macaques are aggressive, lazy rely on people for food, always fighting, selfish, bad mother's and much more. I stopped watching them because i would ge to infuriated by the things they do. I'm only watching your channel now and no other. You know how to make a video and you explain and don't interfere in the monkeys everyday life. You are awesome make it ng these videos. I've heard you mention Sweet pea before, so I was wondering if you have heard of the Libby Rainbow Rose Brady debacle. And if you have, I was curious what your take was on how the "NGO'S" handled that whole situation?
I can say myself that the whole fiasco was due to something the VOs did before showing the baby exchange that upset both Rose and Libby that caused Rose to go after Libby. At least that's the way I see how it happened. If they were going to trade the babies back to the right mama, that should have been done asap instead of waiting so long. Both mamas had no idea what happened but they accepted and loved the baby they each had. Brady and Rainbow were so young, I don't think the switch was too hard on them. As long as they could nurse, they really didn't care! Lol! Anyway, the lady that paid the money to switch the babys back to the right birth monkey mama and every one that was involved, VOs and fake NGO's all should be charged with animal abuse, crimes against nature, crimes against wild animals, I'm sure there are many charges they could be found guilty of and send them to jail and slap a big fine on their greedy cruel butts. I'm so angry over the whole situation and I'm not one that follows any of the channels, I just find them on my timeline and will watch a couple minutes of and read all the comments. But I see enough to know the monkey's stories and what they have gone thru. Poor Libby is on the verge of a nervous breakdown over being captured and having Rainbow ripped from her arms. That was just savage what they did to that monkey mama and to that baby

Barney doesn't seem to be watching out for 'Our Gang'. He probably is looking for females with very Red faces to try to get friendly with. Some breeding age females stay within the troop when it comes to 'picking' a male to breed with. Some choose to look outside the troop. It may have to do with personality preferences of the individual. Maybe to do with ranking of the female. Maybe a bit of both. These macaque males attached to a troop as alphas, betas or beaters don't seem to be of the attitude of attacking the females if they attempt to breed outside the males attached to the troop as some macaque breeds do. They will drive a solitary 'unattached to the troop' male from the vicinity of the troops females. With some breeds of macaque the males of the troop will savagely attack a female if she attempts to stray too far from the Alpha male, much less inclined to breed.

Just love all the yearlings. They are so curious with your camera arroz. They are cute and adorable as ever. Love seeing vivy and fify looking after their lil bro and sis. They are so motherly and know they they make wonderful moms themselves.
I always love watching these but it's getting harder and harder now because seeing Grandee gone and no longer there playing with the babies just totally rips my heart out cuz he was my most favorite! He was so sweet gentle and kind of those babies and he definitely loved Gigi it's almost sad seeing her by herself and not with him.
@@parkercummings1906 I think he's ok..my guess is he didn't fight that much as his wife Ridgy defended him as evidenced by her wounds which are not that bad. He probably chose to leave before the fight get out of hands. According to JW Grandee was sighted in the periphery where the Bachelors are hanging around the Nullah's.
Barry being the new 'Alpha' male is a sign that Bossy is past her prime as well. Having a weak Alpha in Grandee has caused problems but having a weak Alpha female at the same time has resulted in what Our Gang is today. A stronger Alpha female would have ousted her own boys from the troop and ousted a weak Alpha male as well. Bossy not being inclined to oust her sons resulted in them staying into adulthood. Grandee hasn't been, for a while now, able to oust rebellious males from the troop. The boys have been the defacto Alphas for a while now. They have been the ones ousting other males from the troop, some rather too early. One of the 'privelages' of being the Alpha male is breeding the Alpha female. That isn't going to go well in this case. Even if Barry and Barney both weren't neutered. A benefit of a proper battle for the Alpha male position is that the winner has been vetted. He has battled various other strong males. He has shown his cunning and strength in winning the battles. He has likely fought numerous other battles for Alpha position and lost (some won). He has likely been in other positions of other troops and watched and learned what was needed to protect the troop. He brings new blood with him into the troop. Sadly there was none of that within Bossy's troop. There is now an Alpha male who has been sheltered within his natal troop for the entirety of his life. He has not seen a strong Alpha during his formative years. He has not been in those other coveted positions to learn. His only battles have been with his brother whom he has probably been dominating for their whole lives. And Bossy's troop is weaker for this result.
I think Lowina is the most magnificent girl. She looks so proud in spite of her injuries. It's always a joy to see her, Arroz.

He was so sweet gentle and kind of those babies and he definitely loved Gigi it's almost sad seeing her by herself and not with him.

It is weaning time but the mums' don't cut them off cold turkey style. Some of those babies may not get fully weaned for a while.

Yes, one troop. Headed by Alpha female Bossy and her family
Our Gang is the one that is the most focused on. The other troops have some interesting stories that need to be told too.

Grandee is alive. He was ousted. Some feeders saw him hanging around Nullah's troops.

@@parkercummings1906 I think he's ok..my guess is he didn't fight that much as his wife Ridgy defended him as evidenced by her wounds which are not that bad. He probably chose to leave before the fight get out of hands. According to JW Grandee was sighted in the periphery where the Bachelors are hanging around the Nullah's.

Barry being the new 'Alpha' male is a sign that Bossy is past her prime as well. Having a weak Alpha in Grandee has caused problems but having a weak Alpha female at the same time has resulted in what Our Gang is today. A stronger Alpha female would have ousted her own boys from the troop and ousted a weak Alpha male as well. Bossy not being inclined to oust her sons resulted in them staying into adulthood. Grandee hasn't been, for a while now, able to oust rebellious males from the troop. The boys have been the defacto Alphas for a while now. They have been the ones ousting other males from the troop, some rather too early. One of the 'privelages' of being the Alpha male is breeding the Alpha female. That isn't going to go well in this case. Even if Barry and Barney both weren't neutered.
A benefit of a proper battle for the Alpha male position is that the winner has been vetted. He has battled various other strong males. He has shown his cunning and strength in winning the battles. He has likely fought numerous other battles for Alpha position and lost (some won). He has likely been in other positions of other troops and watched and learned what was needed to protect the troop. He brings new blood with him into the troop.
Sadly there was none of that within Bossy's troop. There is now an Alpha male who has been sheltered within his natal troop for the entirety of his life. He has not seen a strong Alpha during his formative years. He has not been in those other coveted positions to learn. His only battles have been with his brother whom he has probably been dominating for their whole lives.
And Bossy's troop is weaker for this result.
