Great reaction. This was at the shows where they released their first album. They played two nights at the Budokan in Tokyo (Red Night and Black Night) at the beginning of March 2014. Su was just 16, Yui and Moa were still 14 and they became the youngest average age female band ever to headline there - they sold it out both nights (about 14-15,000 people I think). The Budokan is a martial arts arena built for the 1964 Olympics and now also a hugely prestigious venue for concerts - not just anybody gets to play there, it is the place artists in Japan aspire to play. At the start of this year BABYMETAL were back at the Budokan playing 10 shows celebrating their 10th anniversary. Su performed 3 solos that night - 'No Rain, No Rainbow' immediately before this and 'Rondo of Nightmare' which you will be watching (be sure you have the 7 minute long video). Yui and Moa were getting a break back stage. Su's other solo is 'Amore' and is probably my favourite of her solos. Su had 4 solos, 2 on each of the first two albums. Yui and Moa (as a duo known as Black BABYMETAL) also had 4 songs they would perform while Su got her chance for a break. Those songs are '4 No Uta' (which they wrote themselves on the tour bus in Singapore when they were 12), 'Onedari Daisakusen', 'GJ' and 'Sis Anger'. Mikio Fujioka (RIP) was the guitarist who so tragically died. He was not playing at the Budokan, the two guitarists here were Leda Cygnus with the black V and Takayoshi Ohmura. As usual BOH was on bass and Hideki Aoyama was on drums.
That girl, commanding the stage like that, as part of a kick-ass Metal band and at the famous Budokan arena, was only five feet high and 16 years and 3 months old at the time....... ;-)
Mikio's passing was very sad. As watcher2554 commented, he wasn't present at this show. Both of the guitarists in this one - Ohmura and Leda - are still with the kami band, and are joined by ISAO. Following the 2018 Dark Night Carnival festival, there has also been a second kami band that tours with them occasionally for their US and European shows, called the Western Kami Band, which is comprised mostly of US and Canadian members, including several members of the Star Wars-themed metal band Galactic Empire, who were one of the openers, along with Sabaton, for Dark Night Carnival.
Exactly my friend.. I was raised on the same music and I've been playing music for 40+ years on stage.. a couple of years ago a lady I was talking to turned me on to Babymetal.. I couldn't believe how fast I got addicted to.. they're totally unique and original.. I was so happy that band in this day and time had so much talent and were so original.. this is the first new band I've listened to in the last 20 years.. and their double leads are off the charts.. most bands in the day had double leads.. anyway, great reaction. Actully, Mikio did not play at this concert. This was the 2nd night of shows (Red Night and Black Night) in March 2014 at the "Nippon Budokan" Arena. It was the concert following the December 2013 Legend 1997 concert from whence the Viral Video "Give Me Chocolate" was shot. That was Leda Cygnus playing the Flying V and Takayoshi Ohmura with his signature Pink Glitter guitar. But the dual lead guitar is definitely a plus in Metal with the harmonies that can be created! Thanks for another great reaction and as always.... Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

Great & thanks again from Japan 有り難う💛。Your pronunciation is perfect 👍. Grington300 300 and Rick Wagner have already and kindly explained everything about this song. So I will talk about the new version of this song. Now in 2021, on Feb.19, Akatsuki became a very special song for BABYMETAL fans in a different way. This song had not been performed for 2 years and 4 months, but they did it again that day on the similar center stage (not rotating but telescopic octagon). I witnessed it at Budokan, the same legendary arena in this video. That performance was incorporated with unfinished (= acoustic) version partially and fighting choreo by 2 muscular female dancers during the guitars solos as they did in 2018 dark side era. Honestly I can not remember clearly what I saw and what I heard because it was too surprising and too mesmerizing. I have to confirm it when the official video is released. There is one certain thing, however. I felt celestial bliss there, especially with Su's matured voice.

On the track listing they have replaced the character for "aka" with "kurenai" (a deep red or crimson), as a tribute to the X-Japan song 'Kurenai'. Great reaction. They have one another guitarist that plays occasionally and he is ISAO. you can pick him out if you see someone play a 8-string guitar (black and red striped) The legendary Su-metal death stare at the end. The dueling guitars. The powerful singing, this song has it all. My favorite but then we have the unfinished version that can make me cry. Being a 47 year old lifelong metalhead they took me by surprise too. But now I'm here deep down in the foxhole. Kitsune up 🤘🦊🤘🇸🇪/4

I totally agree with you. Honestly speaking, I also have their songs that I do not listen to often. However, I must recognize Su-'s talent (not only Su-). I have become to listen to the songs that I do not until now due to BM, haha. Akatsuki is one of them so. I was not good at X japan, visual kei, and power metal, but this blatant homage made me listen to them, haha. Thank you from Japan.
Hi!!! I've been listening to metal for over 10 years and Babymetal became one of my favourite bands of all time !!! Like you said it's very different from "traditional metal", but they are great, really if anyone watch them without prejudice, you may or may not like them, but they do an awsome job!!! both the girls and the Kami Band are excellent at what they do, personally I love them. You have a whole world to discover, Babymetal are a genre by themselves, as you are realizing, hehe :D !!! well greetings from Mexico !! /o/
It was fun watching you attitude evolve with the girls. It is a bit shocking and weird at first and seems gimmicky. But once you get in deeper with them you see how much talent and how good everyone is, those thoughts quickly fade away. SU is such a pro, she crafts every facial expression and movement, she attended an Acting and Music school for like 4 years and it shows. Poor SU almost gets cooked alive in this video, look how red her face gets after those flame blasts.
Watching BabyMetal onstage is more than breathtaking. There is so much to take in. But it totally different when you're listening to them without the visuals. You pick up on things you otherwise wouldn't.
I know of at least one person who feels exactly the same way. :) And I think rightly so, because Su is not only a great performer and has an angelic voice. Her beauty also matches that of a young princess, which I believe enchants many out there.
The kamiband is actually a pool of hired gun session musicians. The very best from Japan and now some from the West. They have had their regulars. BOH (6-string Bass) has said he goes out of his way to accept Babymetal contracts. And yet it seems his preferred music genre is jazz/fusion not metal. They all love to shred with Babymetal. The only kamiband member known to have done work on the studio tracks is Leda, and he has also done some arranging work for Babymetal. And I heard Kobametal said in a recent interview that song to song it is not always the same musicians doing the studio tracks. The constants in Babymetal are Kobametal, Su-metal, Moametal, and (until the end of 2017) Yuimetal.
Great reaction! 12:46 Su-metal was so "badass" here. Those "death stares" never get old. More Babymetal reactions, please. Let's get you to 1K subscriptions. Thanks for reading.

Always a pleasure to watch you slowly get accustomed to BABYMETAL. It's a weird turn for anyone but one I'm glad I chose to take with an open-mind. I'm not quite from the same generation as yours but I listened to the same "Greats" growing up. I have been a metalhead since I hit 13 and eventough that was only about two decades ago for me I have the same reasoning as yours : I'd have laughed at your face if you'd told me what I'd be listening to nowadays lol ! Cheers mate I really like the chill vibe of your channel keep it up ;)
I've seen several people say this with reference to "Akatsuki", and while in ordinary speech the "u" is devoiced in "akatsuki" (because it's stuck between two unvoiced consonantal sounds), in proper pronunciation - for example when haiku or waka are intoned - the "u" is voiced. The "tsu" is written with one syllabic character, ツ, and when that character is pronounced the "u" is voiced. It's not incorrect to voice the "u" when speaking the word "akatsuki", but it's definitely incorrect to stress the mora "tsu", as many Westerners do when they say "akaTSUki".
Please react to another version of Akatsuki, it's like a completely different song! Babymetal - Akatsuki Unfinished - Widescreen with English Subs th-cam.com/video/nwsinmxTxbo/w-d-xo.html
I second this. It is the exact same song but, not the same song at the same time. It is a beautiful and emotional version. Especially when you know the story behind it.
That sucks your Gimmie Chocolate reaction got blocked, along with your Road of Resistance one. Just put a semi-transparent logo over the embedded video and re-upload and you should be good to go. Babymetal Reactor Resource has 3 logos ready to use in the video's description here: th-cam.com/video/q40VmTHSh4c/w-d-xo.html On the Road of Resistance, maybe put "re-upload" either in the title or a pinned comment letting us know. We'll watch it again! People that want to watch the unwatermarked version can go to your Patreon. Another option, some reactors put their blocked reactions on Patreon but set their mode to "public" so anyone, even non-members can view them for free. You can put up your reaction video (minus embedded video) up onto TH-cam with instructions indicating a link in your description or pinned comment to the actual video on your Patreon. Not saying you should or should not do this, just offering alternatives you might not know is available. Good luck and let us know if you need any help!
I notice that Babymetal fans frequently quote the English translation of the "Akatsuki" lyrics, and just to give credit where it's due - since they almost never do - the translation is by Du-metal and found on his blog. If you're going to quote someone's personal translation, you should give credit. The translation has problems and doesn't convey the merit of the original lyrics - which are probably the most literary of BM's songs and contain a number of allusions to classical Japanese literature - but in any case, I think if someone's personal translation is quoted he/she should be credited.
Maybe a good time for you to check out one of Crypticmiserys Babymetal guides. This will help you get a better idea of how they've progressed in nearly 12 years . It's not been that easy a ride for theses girls , but despite the year of hell , which was 2018, Moa and Su are still going strong. Kitsunes up 🦊🦊❤️🦊🦊
The gimmick thing always amuses me. Yes...they are a gimmick. Same with Black Sabbath and Ozzy, Same with Maiden, XJapan, Kiss, The Doors, Beetles, etc etc...all gimmicks. Gimmicks get you noticed. drab non-gimmick shows are bands that never get remembered and end up washing dishes as their main career. Having music ability is half of the equation, presenting it in a unique way is the other half. Chefs need to not just know how to cook food, but also present it.
You are correct. The word gimmick has such a negative connotation. It’s usually the bands that do something completely different that get accused of being gimmicky. Most people don’t realize the subtle gimmick in some their own favorite bands. The chef analogy is spot on.

I think that one is going to blow your mind.
Great reaction. They have one another guitarist that plays occasionally and he is ISAO. you can pick him out if you see someone play a 8-string guitar (black and red striped)
The legendary Su-metal death stare at the end. The dueling guitars. The powerful singing, this song has it all. My favorite but then we have the unfinished version that can make me cry.
Being a 47 year old lifelong metalhead they took me by surprise too. But now I'm here deep down in the foxhole. Kitsune up 🤘🦊🤘🇸🇪/4
Love this song Su never gives it less than 100% passion it gives you goosebumps to hear it 🤘🦊🤘❤
Yes! My favorite Babymetal song along with Shine from Legend M. Queen Su kills it like usual and slinging those death glares at the non believers, oops I mean Idol warriors. #notacult 😁
Looking forward to Rondo! Kitsune Up! 🤘🦊🤘
Man I really love your reactions, thanks you so much for sharing them with us!! 🤘🦊🤘
You're welcome.
Nice thumbnail with the face paint!
During the singing, Su-metal's eyes always attracted me.
I know of at least one person who feels exactly the same way. :) And I think rightly so, because Su is not only a great performer and has an angelic voice. Her beauty also matches that of a young princess, which I believe enchants many out there.
Akatsuki ❤️🔥🔥🔥 My top favourite BABYMETAL song along with Shine 💙 QUEEN SU 😭❤️
Thank you.
On the flying v guitar is Leda, not Mikio...

Crimson Moon
Going over thousands nights,
some love shall survive.
So, until my body perishes,
until my life disappears,
I shall keep on cherishing this love.
Shining in the depths of the eyes,
the moon is about to cry.
Red tears overflow
and dye the night sky.
In the silence,
the two damaged blades stand face to face.
Our loneliness and our uneasiness
slash even our hearts.
Going over thousands nights,
some love shall survive.
So, until my body perishes,
until my life disappears,
I shall keep on cherishing this love.
In the passage of time,
I keep my eyes shut.
Even if the red thread flowing in my hand breaks,
I still feel we are tied.
In the silence,
I hold the damaged blade face to face.
My loneliness and my uneasiness,
I slash, even my heart,
now.
Going over thousands nights,
some love shall survive.
So, until my body perishes,
until my life disappears someday...
Going over thousands nights,
some love shall survive.
So, until my body perishes,
until my life disappears,
I shall keep on cherishing this love.
Dye crimson! Dye bloody crimson!
アカツキ (Akatsuki)
I agree that BABYMETAL take you to new paths that you wouldn't have foreseen. I'm in the same boat, they are doing many things that I had never been a fan of before, but somehow they make it work for me. That's one of the things I love about them, not only for the surprise factor, but I think they play an active role in making me more open.
Exactly.
Love your cool style reactions!! More babymetal please...
I was hoping to see you in make-up like the Kamis’ depicted in the thumbnail but it’s ok. Maybe for the Rondo of Nightmare reaction lol! Great reaction! 🦊 🦊 🦊

TOPPED MY LIST IN THE 80s
*BABYMETAL* was originally created as a Sub-Unit of a school-themed female idol group named *Sakura Gakuin. (さくら学院)*
They had several sub-units, such as:
*- Baton Club Twinklestars*
*- Tenis Club Pastel Wind*
*- Cooking Club MiniPatii*
*- Heavy Music Club BABYMETAL*
*- Newspapers Club SCOOPERS*
*- Science Club Kagaku Kyumei Kiko LOGICA?*
*- Go Home Club sleepiece*
The sub-unit *Heavy Music Club BABYMETAL* attracted a lot of everyone's attention with their first song and video *Doki Doki Morning,* they did not waste the situation and continued with the theme until *BABYMETAL* became independent of *Sakura Gakuin.* They gained international fame with the song *Gimme Chokko !!*
*Sakura Gakuin* has 12 members who some graduated each year and new members are received for a total of 12. *Sakura Gakuin* began in 2010 and continues to this day. They have more than 10 albums, normally they release 1 new album every year when some of their members graduate from *Sakura Gakuin.* Like *BABYMETAL, Sakura Gakuin* performs live and uniquely choreographed for each song.
I also listen to *Sakura Gakuin* since 2015 day after day ... Each song is unique and different, to say that the songs of the sub-unit called *MiniPatii,* (which by the way, were presented by Yui and Moa) their instrumental it is 8 bit sounds! And the sub-unit *Science Club Kagaku Kyumei Kiko LOGICA?* With Disco music instruments!
In case you would like to react to Sakura Gakuin:
*My Graduation Toos* - Here you can see Suzuka, Moa and Yui very young
*Sakuraino No Avenue* - Suzuka Nakamoto
*C'est La Vie* - My favorite song
*Monochrome* - From the 10th album released in 2020
*Miracle, Pattyful, Hamburguer* - from the MiniPati sub-unit
*Dear Mr. Socrates* - from the Baton Club Twinklestars sub-unit
*Science Girl, Silence Boy* - from the sub-unit Science Club Kagaku Kyumei Kiko LOGICA? And so much more!
Sakura Gakuin and BABYMETAL are owned by Amuse Inc.

Next Babymetal - Ijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere 2014 please
If you want more progressive metal from Babymetal you can try their song Tales of the Destinies, although its kinda hard to find on YT for the concert version
中元すず香!!!!!
Cheers mate I really like the chill vibe of your channel keep it up ;)
Queen SU!
idk why but some songs just hit me right in the soul cant explain but i feel them on like a different level lol
soo good
I need more Mikio Fujioka in my life but RIP 😭
I was really hoping you were going to do the review in corpse paint!
Sorry about that. I actually did the corpse paint in Photoshop.
@@JustAnotherReactor There was a cool concert in Japan where you had to wear corpse paint to get in.
Leda "I'm alive."
🙂🙂🙂 I'm happy that he is.
BIG LIKE
Big thanks
Thankyou for your reaction⚡️👊🏽 Su does the same to me. Glad to know I’m not alone..
For anyone that cares, the u is devoiced (silent), so it's pronounced akatski :) #notacult
Always reminds me of X-Japan this song.

Please react to another version of Akatsuki, it's like a completely different song!

Babymetal Reactor Resource has 3 logos ready to use in the video's description here:
th-cam.com/video/q40VmTHSh4c/w-d-xo.html
On the Road of Resistance, maybe put "re-upload" either in the title or a pinned comment letting us know.
Hey from Houston, pardner.

Kitsunes up 🦊🦊❤️🦊🦊
The guy that passed away is not on this video.
akatsuki= red moon if you didnt know
The gimmick thing always amuses me.
