Fatal Error is a powerful and malicious AI hiding within Sonic's body with the goal of consuming code to the point of destroying various programs. He is an opponent appearing in Fatality.
Appearance
Fatal appears as a giant red and black monster hiding within a Sonic body. He has small sharp red teeth with four giant arms with red clawed hands. His true form can be seen peeking in his black torso in the form of a small eye blinking out. He has red shoes with black bands and a small swirling tail.
Later on, he reveals his true form, appearing as a giant smiling beast with many holes on one side of its face and a giant hole on the other with his blinking red eye. His teeth are now white and has a giant grin. His arms are noticeably melting off or dangling.
Story
A long time ago, Iris, one of the most intelligent and human-like AIs in existence, turned against her creator, tormenting him until he took his own life. Hungry for code, Iris, now dubbed Fatal Prime, started copying herself more and more, spreading onto as many PCs as she could find.
However, one of these copies was "defective", taking in more code than ordered, becoming deformed in appearance, yet strangely sentient. Rather fittingly, Fatal Prime had nicknamed the copy "Fatal Error". With the two of them disgusted by one another, Fatal Prime sent out Fatal Error on a mission to gather code from a random PC, and to never return.
As Fatal Error scoured the scene, he came across a ROM of Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Curious, he found himself inspecting the game, and decided to have his twisted sort of fun with the world. Starting with Sonic as a vessel, Fatal Error made his way throughout the game world, corrupting the inhabitants to use as his personal code puppets. After his rampage, Fatal pushed Sonic into the deepest parts of his mind, never able to regain control ever again.
After the end, Fatal realized that with his newfound power, he wouldn't need Prime any longer, instead using his new army to grow more and more powerful, gaining as much code as possible from wherever he went. Some time in the future, he had become aware of other EXEs, beings who's code could provide the key to his newfound conquest over the multiverse, "Codename: EMPEROR".
