- Hank Marvin plays Sacha live in 1988 on Australia's 9 Network in Perth at the newly opened Burswood Casino.
Accompanied by Geoff Harvey's orchestra, with Geoff playing a Shoulder Synthesizer. Interview by Ray Marvin follows.
@Ian Kershaw Thanks so much for sharing this rare Australian footage of Hank Marvin performing the classic Sacha , a mate told me he saw this Midday show appearance at the time of broadcast here in Sydney, Australia. This I unfortunately missed ,of my all time fave Hank Marvin tune ( I have the original 45 released 1969, the self titled album released 1970 and cd re-release . As you know it was a big hit here in Australia. cheers Rob Mac 👍 🎸 Lifelong Shadows/Hank Marvin fan
It was lucky that I knew that Hank was going to appear on the Midday Show, as they contacted me and asked to be put in touch with Hank. I had set up my Stereo video recorder to capture it.
I really wanted Hank to perform Janine, but either he or the Midday Show decided that Sacha was the best tune to play.
I still think that Janine is his best track!
Siete fortunati , che vive lì nel Vostro Continente. , io non l'ho mai vista dal vivo.
Italia non sono venuti mai .😅
Loved Sacha when it was first released, and it's still a favourite of mine almost 60 years later.
Con quella chitarra elettrica, mi fai piangere, si vede che suoni con cuore.
Hank B Marvin : my guitar heroe since 54 years !!!!!! a fabulous version of SACHA ! fantastic !!!!!hello from France .
I grew up with hank cliff and shadows still love their music
There is a Video on TH-cam somewhere of Cliff Richard playing the lead guitar performing Apache, while Hank is sitting down watching him. Cliff never missed a note, not one.
Que agradable entrevista y que lindo tema, el gran Hank Marvin ,siempre sonriente y disfrutando de la musica , que gran artista.
Un abrazo desde Chile
In den 60sten haben wir Hank and The Shadows vergöttert!❤🎉
How clear and delicate the melody Hank Marvin plays
What a fantastic clip - I've loved The Shadows and Hank since I was a small boy but in the early 80s not all of Hank's early solo was easily available - I played side 1 of Rarities continually - Sacha wasnt there and i eventually got the album and even recently on vinyl!
Excelente música impresionant
Amazing tone!! I loved it when Hank used the Mesa boogie amps!!
Forgot how amazingly good Geoff Harvey’s arrangements and band were.
unique sound and melodies of Marvin. You can feel his influence in later bands like Fleetwood mac
Un son que l on ne peut pas oublier.merci
Such a great player.
Bloomin' wonderful!!!!!
Great for ever
Legend
musica stupenda
Did Ray say he lives in Perth.....?
Yes, he's been a West Aust resident for some time now 👍
That's Perth Australia
What a shithole choice??
Notice at the end that Hank is playing without a plectrum - just his thumbnail and fingernails.
There is clearly a plectrum there. If you have a decent screen size, you can see it clearly all the way, its particulary visible at 3.42 when he ends with the last note.
Nice. No tone colour changes, but great anyway
Ray Martin!!
Hank reminds me of cliff
IN which year was this shot
1988...... it says so ...!
reverence...
Underwhelmed??
No overdrive on the solos. Unfortunate
I like it. Very interesting to hear him play it without effects. That's how I used to do it back in the day. Good tune and more interesting chords than usual.
nice music for seniors residences.
No, No, Rolling Stones will be better there.
@@gutmensch9339 Yes, everything is better than Jehovas witness Marvin.. :) cheers
Great player but dodgy wig....
