This video was so helpful for threading my serger. I have never used a serger before and was able to thread it CORRECTLY after watching this, pausing it at the different steps and going one thread at a time. Having the different color threads corresponding to the different locations was also very helpful. there is so much going on with the different threads that this made it easier to understand.

I have had my serger for many years and it works perfectly every time. However, yesterday I went to change the thread color and completely forgot how to position the thread on the upper and lower looper needles. I must have re-thread it 15 times and was so frustrated! This video helped me so much and now my serger is working beautifully again. Thank you, thank you very much!

Marie Claire Victoria Mabutas Sordan I am happy to hear that Marie. Actually, this video is included on a DVD with some of the Singer sergers. For some reason it isn't included on all of them, so that is why I decided to post it here.

Ok, already wrote a comment, but I have more to say. Thank you SO much! I have been messing with my serger for 2 days and could not for the life of me get it to stop jamming. Well, thanks to your video I went super slow and deliberate and double checked every thread was in the right spot. FINALLY after 2 days I go it working again. Saved me a senseless $60 + charge to take it to the shop! Ok, off to sew! WOOHOO!

So happy that this video showed me exactly what I needed to know to thread my serger after the lower looper thread broke. I am no longer afraid that I don’t know what I’m doing!
Marvellous tutorial. You even solved a problem I had with my Lewenstein 700de serger. You said make sure the lower looperthread tail lays over the upper looper otherwise the threads will tangle. Thank you so much, for my "own" tutorial failed to tell this.
Thank you so much for this video! I finally got my Singer Serger and I made it at 1st shot! The only thing that was difficult for me was threading the last needle which has the blue thread! I used a manual threader since I really got a poor eye sight however, it was still difficult even to insert the threader into the needle hole! Anyway, I made it! Too scary at first! LOL now I'm gonna try! Thank you again and I have saved this vid in my playlist bcoz I know I will still be needing it! God bless..
Even this great video does not specify that the thread must pass to the LEFT of the tension discs. I could never get this serger to work correctly - until I took it to the shop. The repairman said I had threaded to the right of the tension disc. It should be threaded to the LEFT of the tension disc - I used a flashlight to see and confirm this. My serger works great now with threading to the LEFT of tension discs...hope this helps others avoid my frustrations.....
Yes, it is pretty sad the manufactures don't pay close attention to such details. Just like the put horizontally wound spools of thread on their vertical spool holders on a regular basis.
Thank you thank you thank you! I could not figure why I could not thread this. But thanks to this video , I can finally thread my machines lower looper!
My upper looper thread was breaking, causing much frustration. Thankful for your easy to follow video. Now I don't have to throw the serger in the trash!

Thank you! Very useful tutorial. I have another problem. Sometimes lower looper "grab" a thread from the B needle and sometimes it doesn't. It's very frustrating. Do you please have any advice?
I really wish you had done some sample sewing at the end. I'd like to see the result of a 4 color setup in a serger. I have know idea where all 4 of those threads go. All the videos I find have 4 of the same color in the serger.
I followed this to the T, read the instructions but my yellow thread keeps coming undone and ruining everything. Who thought it was a good idea to make the thing it has to slip into in the back and pretty unreachable. Trying to figure this all put as I've wanted a serger for a while and this is souring my should be enjoyment
Raise the pressure foot and hold the thread with one had before it goes into the tension disc. Then grab the thread with your other hand on the front side of the tension disc and push down to ensure it seats between the tension disc securely. Lower the pressure foot and pull the thread from the back side of the needles to ensure it has tension on it. You may also find you have some debris between the disc in some cases. In this case you can use dental floss between the tension disc to clean out any thread lint that may have accumulated during usage. Also, make sure you pull the threads at least 12 inches to the back beyond the needles after threading before you start.
Sorry didn’t mean to confuse… for the blue thread does that just go through the top tension disc, then down and directly over the slots in between the green and blue
just managed to jam fabric/thread under foot can't get out. Any ideas. You think I should unscrew the foot? By the way on a positive point , from your video on TH-cam I thread the machine first time watching the step by step video.
I have done everthing like in the video, but I hear a weird sound when I turn the handwheel, the threads are not braided together... How do I solve this?
Play with the tension. First, raise the presser foot. Then make sure your thread is seated between the tension disc. Hold the thread on the above and below and push it down between the disc using a flossing motion. If everything it threaded properly and the tension is correct then it might be a timing or mechanical problem.
@@kevinsews The serger thread is new, I don't know which brand it is. But 2 days ago the machine it worked. When I was sewing, suddenly I heard some weird sound and since then it is not working. I looked inside de machine and I saw that the neadle was touching something. I think because of this, it creates the weird sound.

I was very disappointed when I got my serger three days ago it wasn't ready to sew has it stated it was...and I still haven't been able to get it to sew six hours later! The upper looper keeps breaking I threaded this over and over watched the DVD still wouldn't work. I own a baby lock for 15 years it still works, it's not like I didn't know how? I just wanted a singer since I have a singer sewing machine and my baby lock is old and behind the times u know? But to my disappointment I'm sadden to say I'm returning it.
+Teri Graham I am sorry to hear you are having problems! Singer is only a marketing name these days. They are no longer a company with their own engineers like the great Singer Company of old.. They are owned by a massive investment group that also owns Viking and Husqvarna and they reserve the higher quality machines for those 2 over Singer. The market has completely changed over the past 3 decades.
+Dare2B DifferentDIY Make sure the thread is seated into the tenson disc. Raise your foot while threading the machine. Then place on hand above the machine and the other on the lower side of the machine with the thread in each hand. Pull the thread tight to ensure it seats down into the tension disc.
Thank you so much for the vedio uts really helpful, I have questions about the needle also I need to know if I can used regular needle in a sarger machine like havey duty or universal needles?

I purchase the singer pro finisher serger the 24th of January 2016, I have always own singer sewing machine found them to be very reliable.
Thank for posting this.I haven't been able to find on up until now.
My pleasure Barbara.

I did all of this and the thread on the fabric comes up loose, I put the settings on 4 and still nothing works. What am I doing wrong?
+Dare2B DifferentDIY Make sure the thread is seated into the tenson disc. Raise your foot while threading the machine. Then place on hand above the machine and the other on the lower side of the machine with the thread in each hand. Pull the thread tight to ensure it seats down into the tension disc.
Kevin Sews thank you so much! Its working, you're a sewing life saver 😄.
