Totally luv this severely underrated and underappreciated song. From like the year i graduated high school. If this majestic song went on playing all morning, day and night wouldnt matter at all, totally irrisitable. With production values clear, brilliant, timeless.
Esta canción la escucho manejando en la carretera llegando al oceano pacifico en un atardecer con mucha nostalgia de los 80s la era magica dorada que nunca regresara.
I remember when this first came out, the use of the electronic synthesizer as a base line was a brand new sound. That together with Eddy Grants rich voice made this a very big hit in the UK. I think it hit the charts sometime in '83.
Odd. I remember this song being a hit in the US as well, but according to Wikipedia, it stalled in the UK, and was cut from the film (though it performed better in the US, according to the article).
@@Lukas-bb5pz earlier this year, I hurt a man of whom I am much more than fond. I wrecked what was probably going to be the relationship that defined both of us. He refused to talk to me for month. The whole time he wouldn't talk to me, that line, "gonna love the hurting (or heartache) away. Eventually he did start talking to me again, but I'm pretty sure that any kind of reconciliation isn't possible. However, we still have a very deep emotional and spiritual connection, and I think it's important to him too. After we had started talking, I sent him "Romancing the Stone", with the comment that this is my song for him.
It was comissioned for the soundtrack (logically this would have been opening or closing credits) but the studio bailed. Eddy retained the rights so he put it out as a single.
I'm romancing the stone Never leaving your poor heart alone Every night and every day Gonna love the hurting away I'm romancing the stone Never leaving your poor heart alone Every night and every day Gonna love the heartache away Tonight, tonight I'm falling where the peaceful waters flow Where the unicorn's the last one at the water hole I have found a love so precious like an emerald so bold It's a firelight escaping from the jeweller's hold. I'm romancing the stone Never leaving your poor heart alone Every night and every day Gonna love the hurting away I'm romancing the stone Never leaving your poor heart alone Every night and every day Gonna love the heartache away
An Unforgettable Song from the Good old Days, Simply Brilliant. Always a Pleasure to Hear👍One of the best songs Eddy Grand released. We used to be unstoppable at the disco.🎸🎹
This moves my heart. Powerful beat, Eddy's rich voice, good clean music. As a white kid I always enjoyed how Eddy Grant blended Jamaican rhythm with electronic instruments. Good times.
Romancing the Stone - directed by Robert Zimeckis, who'd bring us the more successful Back to the Future movie a year later, along with co-director Bob Gale and producer Steven Spielberg.
it was played, the sitting in a bar or restaurant or something and the song is played in the background i watched the movie because of your post to check it
that's a shame it wasn't in the movie.... I saw that movie but it's been so long.... I thought this song fit the movie fine...soneone posted that it didn't, I disagree but who am I...
Actually he was born in British Guyana, was moved to England where he learned music, and now he lives in Barbados. Also, he is NOT a Rastafarian, AND he doesn't smoke "ganga". And he said that if those people who are, and who do choose to not listen to his music that it doesn't matter to him at all.
The best number of Eddy Grant in my opinion.
Yesssssssssssssss !!!
The base just kicks ass. This is the best versions of the song, do not waste time on the others. Completely awesome, extended version.
Daaamn this version is sooo clean and the extended time is just right
The voice , the beat , the words....
👌👌
I have found that most of my very favourite songs have one common feature. A DRIVING OSTINATO. This one is currently at the top of my lifetime top 20.

Eddy Grant's "Going For Broke" album was actually released in 1984 and "Romancing The Stone" is the CD's opening track.
I have forgotten the movie long ago but not this masterpiece from Mr. Eddy Grant!
i cant believe they didnt use this in the movie its the perfect song for it imo.
MasterWitchDoctor

Completely frickin AWESOME!
one of my ultimate favourites from the 80''s love the guitaring - powerfull song
Four decades ago this rap/reggae tune appeared on the scene. It was just as appealing as the movie that it came from!
Great sound...High energy. Was this even in the movie?
Dance dynamite right here. Pure 80s disco power. Outstanding.
It can be briefly heard in the background when Jack Colton and Jane Wilder enter the drug dealer's hacienda.

great song better than electric avenue
Highly agreed, yasmine lewis and so happy I'm not the only one who thinks so....pure upbeat, feel-great greatness by Eddy Grant! :-)
This song should have gotten more attention when it was released!!!
Electric Avenue was a political song this is not it is theme for a movie
It's actually about his battle with crack cocaine.

Wonder what makes this the "long version"? Love it though.
Much more instrumental than the 3 minute "movie version"
The album version clocks in at just a little under five minutes.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's a long version of the song.
This is real reggae

WTF is this with an ad in the MIDDLE of a SONG? Who does that?
I don't know anything about that and didn't know it was happening. Must be TH-cam putting ads up.
@@Musicvegan01 EVERY time I play this one, I have to advance it past the ad, then take it back. But I don't think Mr. Grant would be impressed.
Why can’t I get this from iTunes?
Why not start by washing whole hoof off with water from hose or other source of pressure water?

are Eddie Grant and Lenny Kravitz father and son. Either way they are both hot as hell.
no lenny kravits dad was NBC television news producer Sy Kravitz.
