Dave thank you so much for this thorough and thoughtful review! In regards to the blade finish, it is what is called a stonewash finish. The steel is soaked in acid and then put in a rock tumbler, resulting in a mottled pattern on the steel.
Is it different than a stonewashed finish? Most knife guys including OG know what a stonewashed blade finish is. 😊 do you offer a hand rubbed satin option for blade finish? If so how much of an upcharge?
7.5oz with the sheath, 5.5oz knife alone are my measurements as indicated in the video. 5 and 1/2 oz is far lighter than a good amount of folders and certainly isn't going to weigh you down. Then again we all have our preferences....
Yeah I saw that too and was wondering if the measurement belonged to that knife or something else or if there's some variance in the weights since he may use multiple materials being that these are custom blades. I believe if you ordered one you could specify the blade stock perhaps and handle materials to keep it light. 👍
@@Fluxxcapacitor52 THANK YOU so much for bringing this up! Dave is correct! We failed to update the info for that knife since we switched from A2 steel to AEB-L. The AEB-L we now use is a thinner stock as compared to the previous A2. We have updated the website to reflect the current specs.
You can absolutely pay with a credit card, just use the PayPal option during checkout! Unfortunately, we cannot have a standard credit card processor because a knife is considered a "high risk" product. We could do it with certain companies but they charge double the normal processing fees. PayPal is the only payment vendor that we can use at the moment.
I find the more your hand locks into the handle of any knife the harder it is to flip from forward to reverse grip ie. (Cold Steel Spartan). However I also believe that most knife fights to the death will finish with the knife in the grip that it started in. Just my theory I don't know that. But I never found a lot of time for flipping knives around while sparring I was too busy being killed😮😅
Quite true, and my belief as well. We practice grip changes a lot in Filipino Kali, But really the value is to secure the knife in case you start dropping it. I know people who are very proficient at it but again when fear and adrenaline begin moving through you You want to lock on and hit your targets with at least damage to yourself! 👍🗡️👊
Seriously, that can be said of the Northman which came after the Auxiliary Manufacturing Karl, in about half a dozen other knives that have similar but not exact profiles. Clones are exact copies and if you watch the vid this is not an exact copy of anything else. A good way to find similar knives is to do a Google image search and see what you come up with.... 👍

Thanks Michael! I know you could fill in some of the gaps... 🗡️👍🗡️

The reversible sheath is super clever for a center clip single edge! And OMG the topo map is of Dead man's gulch, in Utah..... just kidding😅
Great review!
🗡️🙏👊
Great video review 👍. This type of knife 🔪 is my favorite ❤.
I agree - great for everyday carry!
How does the VSK1's ergos compare with the first 3 similar ones you compared it to?
As mentioned, I've raved over the ergos which are amazing. The Auxiliary Karl is a bit more edge rounded, so a matter of personal taste. 🗡️👍
is that the inside waistband sheath
Inside anywhere... 🗡️👍
I almost pulled the trigger on one of these, the weight is my only reason for holding off. It’s 8.5oz

@OGBladeReviews I appreciate the clarity. On the website, I was given the impression the knife was 8.5oz...

@ Thanks again Mike 🙏
Reminds me of the CobraTec Kingpin.
Tried to order, can’t seem to be able to use a credit card to purchase

Their online payment system only accepts PayPal and your credit card can pay through PP, you just need an account.

Anytime that I was overly pleased with my sparring my teacher was quick to remind me that if they're trying to kill you you will be half as good😮
Reminds me of a Amtac Northman
It's a clone of the Northman.
