    The neck was left over, to insure it could be fitted to the front end. The front ends, like most part of the era, where all over the place in tolerances. There was some hand fitting

    It would be interesting to know what an original frame weighs - instant way to identify if the weight is way off.

    Comparing a 41 frame to 46-47 bullneck is not really comparing apples to apples.

      your a moron. do you work for taiwan teddy? every part of that repo frame is crap and made wrong. nothing fits it including the repo parts that tedd makes. junk. the forks are just as bad. watch the 1946 knucklehead assembly videos and make your own decisions.

      Tatro Machine Moron? Lol. Is the shit the same? No but it would be nice to compare a bullneck with a bullneck.

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the neck is almost the same and everything else is. so what. a frame is a frame as far as harley goes. the tedd frame is wrong at any part you look at so who cares if the neck style is different when the frame is a big pile of crap.

      So, the $64 question: would the rear width dimensions, etc. be the same between the '41 frame and the later? If so, then it's a good enough comparison.
      And FWIW, nobody has things tooled and/or manufactured in Taiwan because of their dedication to quality. I used to live there, working for a company which brought all manner of manufactured items in. If you want cheap shit... they'll hook you up. Want things done right? Try USA, Germany, Japan, etc

    I love the wishbone style frames. After market frames seem to get kinda punky with specs.

    Same goes for aftermarket swing arm frames. My frame broke because it was too wide at the swing arm pivot point.. The previous owner cranked down on the swing arm bolt or axle.to close the gap. This stressed the frame on the right side under the battery. It broke in two places. I can fix it but damn, a 3/16 gap is a bit to wide to fit unless you shim it or adjust the frame.

      when a dumbass does not learn anything they just just keep breaking things. ussally after the 2nd or 3ed time they give up or figuare it out.

    Hey Tatro , Seeing as how you are such an expert and have such a super shop maybe you can produce a 100% correct frame for us poor people that can't afford to lay out $15k for an original!! And thanks for the 18 minute comedy on how to install a Knucklehead motor. It was a hoot!! An admirer, Tom

      they are on 7k on ebay and you get what you pay for. if you like crap than use it.
      a machine shop is not a factory or fabrication shop. different tools and machines along with skill set.

      Your asking him? He can"t even read a tape measure. He"s got the 1/16ths down but 1/32ths Way over his head.

    Do you use heat when you bend this frame to correct dimensions?

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it is best not to because the old harley frames are heat treated. the aftermarket frames are not so it doesn't matter on them.

    And were comparing an original frame to a repop,..what are you trying to do??
    Pass a repop off as original with an original knuckle in it
    These frames are generally sold via there kit,..most already know they will have some fitment issues when you buy a repop frame

      get a clue, did you even watch the video. i am showing you the difference between a real frame and that import repo crap.

    • @TatroMachine

      not all are but tons are. when customers only care about cost that is what you get. the lack of usa manufactures does not help but change is coming.

    Ha Ha " Tatro Machine" The axle plates are further apart? So you bent them in? Now they won"t be parallel with each other. You can"t make your own axle spacers? What a joke. You can"t even read a tape measure "This one here it"s about a 1/16 under that number". WTF is that? I would love you try to read a micrometer LOL Tatro Machine.

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      maybe it would help if you actually watch the videos. the frame was bent in and bent straight. have you every heard of an S bend, what a dumbass. the fact is that the repo frame is a pile of crap and requires tons of work just to work, much as look like the real deal.
