it sounds like the first time a heart falls in love or the first step for a new born doe its sounds like a flower blooming or a butterfly being born ...i love it and it has to be one of my most favorite instruments in the world...xx
I love the traditional Chinese music that immediately connects you to ancient China, Chinese culture, Chinese landscape and Chinese spirit . Absolutely beautiful! Bravo!
You are absolutely right. She is not arrogant, which must be a wrong modifier for such tender lady. But she is "intense, heavy, noble and yet also tenderly artisitic". I like her to the extend of not sleeping well. Haha!
A few beautiful Chinese er-hu musicians have caught the hearts and imagination and fascination of quite a few million overseas Chinese men all over the world!!!
Beautiful. that is the first piece of music inspired by spring that has actually conjured up images of fresh green rolling hills and streams and birds, no other music does that for me..:D going to find more!
I can relate to the flowing water of southern China with this nice erhu play by this lady from Xijiang. Melodic and flowing gracefully. Thanks for the video.
As a Chinese and musician, I am very proud to see and hear such superior and non-equaled performance. This Chinese girl soloist is a Blessed Gift from the HeavenS.
Her erhu has led fans into a journey of enchantment and spiritual intoxication in what art can best offer. Only erhu played by the most elite musicians can create such a realm. She is from Xinjiang, the land of mystery and immensity. Congratulation!
in my view, ther ehru is probably the most beautiful instrument ever made. it looks and sounds beautiful. ive always wanted to learn it and this makes me want to learn even more
They are both great er-hu players; Yu hungmei is more intense and she does not really smile but smiles enough to say: "You like me and the music, right?"
I feel sad inside when I hear the Erhu, it likes the hard life in front of me and there is no choose only face it with inner smile. Ancient Chinese people endure too much pain, war/hungry/bad government/bully by strong family...
@MelodicRockLover- Also forgot to mention that there was also a Guzheng near the beginning at 0:28 as well as a yueqin (aka moon guitar) on the far left at 2:17. The guy behind the lady with the moon guitar is playing a sheng.
wow this is raag mohana definite!!! ofcorse she dosnt smile...she looks like a statue ,made of wax..!!!beutiful wax!! may b that makes it more breath holding!!!
@janeCate1 The banjo looking thing near the beginning is called a pipa. The thing at 0:28 is called a "se". The thing being hammered is called a yangqin.
@UrikoTheHalfBeast I used to play Dynasty Warriors all the time but haven't read that book yet, stopped playing video games almost entirely so I gotta get on that book!
@dirtoffmyshoulder1 It's just you, I've met fair young people (above the average) that like this type of music. It's not a lot per se, but with surprising numbers.
I wish popular culture could embrace stars like this instead of artists who capitalize on dressing sleazily and singing about getting drunk and living promiscuously. Imagine what the world would be like! (Maybe I'm just a dreamy old fart ^_^)
In the old days it was not good form for a woman to show her teeth when smiling. That is why they hid their laugh behind their hands. On top of that it was not good form for a woman to laugh out loud in an un-lady like fashion. ....but that was in the very old days. Maybe when it comes to performing in situations like this they have to honor the more traditional aspects of performing etc etc etc.

I play the Erhu, it is truly a wonderful instrument.
She is ONE with the instrument for sure... Love her intensity while keeping a "stone face"! 😀

So do I. Closing my eyes and listening makes everything feel so tranquil.

Continuously soft, continuously pensive and thoughtful and continuously nostalgic to a civilization over 6,000 years!

Oh, this is new for me, and it sounds amazing!
I shall visit Xinjiang next year where this talented lady comes from. She is from Urumqi, the capital!
Her erhu has led fans into a journey of enchantment and spiritual intoxication in what art can best offer. Only erhu played by the most elite musicians can create such a realm. She is from Xinjiang, the land of mystery and immensity. Congratulation!

Something tells me that she hasn't got a happy life... Of course, her skills are wonderful. She's a master of the instrument.

@Dante121892 The Ehru is the Bow + String instrument Westerners (Europeans and Americans) call this instrument the Chinese Violin

Chinese erhu music: 江南春色 Spring scenery of Jiang-nan /二胡:邵琳
20141127hp5actChinese erhu music: 江南春色 Spring scenery of Jiang-nan /二胡:邵琳
My comment is, it's beautiful music. Question: none or these erhu players show their teeth when they smile. Is this a cultural taboo?
After listening to this song, I suggest you to search for and listen to the misty rain of Jiangnan.

Beautiful music! Can someone please tell me names of the other Chinese instruments in the ensemble? My music students are curious!
@Dante121892 Its a Zheng if im not mistaken
I would watch this, even if deaf
Wooow! That sounded great! What is the instrument at 0:28?
Anyone know any sad Erhu songs? Like dark songs (not evil, just sad), like past memories...you know?
what is the name of this lady.great skill.
Shao Lin
The erhu player is Shao Lin
Are those harmonics she's doing? I had no idea you could do that with an Erhu!
What is the main instrument? I love it!
It is called "Erhu" in Chinese, which means two-string violin.
now ,I am in chine
I wish popular culture could embrace stars like this instead of artists who capitalize on dressing sleazily and singing about getting drunk and living promiscuously. Imagine what the world would be like! (Maybe I'm just a dreamy old fart ^_^)
Are there any 'sad' erhu piece?
Yes, indeed. Erhu is good at expressing sadness.
In the old days it was not good form for a woman to show her teeth when smiling. That is why they hid their laugh behind their hands. On top of that it was not good form for a woman to laugh out loud in an un-lady like fashion. ....but that was in the very old days. What is the Erhu-ist's name?
@CherryBlossom2571 Hi I'm Alkys from Greece.Iread this and Irecomend you to
take an erhu from the internet.
it would be much better if play it solo.
Zao Qiang Huang OK
