Ever since they released the Chauchat, I've been mostly running with it as support with the same specs you picked. I also put a medium range scope on it & use it basically like a designated marksman rifle (I've even taken out enemy snipers at range with it), and it's one of my favorite guns in BFV, because specced out like that & working with its limitations, it actually is a pretty decent all-arounder, at least for me. Basically I scope at medium to long range & hip fire in closer ranges.
Lovely review, Def my new fav LMG despite the steep learning curve. I would also point out that with enhanced grips, the chaucat is highly effective at hipfire, even able to tapfire at range whilst in this mode largely due to its high DMG per shot.
Glad you enjoyed! Quite liked your Chauchat montage and I believe your video on the Chauchat in Combined Arms was the first one I saw of it in that mode. And yeah, Enhanced Grips makes tapfiring while hipfiring super ridiculous - when bipoded especially, it's a powerhouse!
Great video. The chauchat was the main reason i still bothered playing bfv. When i heard its finally be released i was stoked. Though it will never beat out the infamous bf1 chauchat. I just hope DICE brings it back one more time somewhere along the lines
Glad you enjoyed! Yeah, while the BFV Chauchat isn't at the same kinda level as the BF1 version, I can't help but use it most of the time now. Silly as it sounds, using it always seems to get me psyched - I think it helps that it sounds even better than the BF1 Chauchat, if you ask me!
Heh, well I try to pronounce it properly, instead of the attempts other people make (Sho-sho? Chow-shat? Pffft). In terms of numbers the BF1 Chauchat is actually better across the board, funnily! Damage is higher (38-28), reloads are quicker (2.1s tactical, 2.7 empty), has lower recoil (only 0.55 vertical!) and fires faster (360RPM)! I guess with BFV's attrition you're more likely to fight wounded enemies which works in the Chauchat's favour, plus there's no random bullet deviation.

I think the most I might ever want to do is, at some point, ramble on about why I like the BF1 support class so much - or even do a video discussing the Chauchat in both BF1 and BFV, mixing it in with some historic information and why I like the gun so damn much. Might be an idea, actually...
No changes made to it as far as I'm aware, given how DICE unceremoniously dropped BFV and SWBF2 in order to 'put their all' into BF2042. The Chauchat is still a slow firing and heavy hitting gun that you probably want to use at distance or in close quarters with improved hipfire - but the real issue here is why play Support out of all classes in BFV?
@@Foddeur Not many players are really interested to play support as a support, I know. I usually disrupt enemy planes, repair tanks and flank to bait with AT mines.
While I like to use the Grease Gun, the Chauchat is probably the only gun I like enough both in and outside of the game to make a guide like this for. The BAR and Madsen might be exceptions to that.
@@Foddeur I meant the M3 carbine with the ridiculous night scope. I wanted to see what someone better than me could do to make that dumpster fire scope work for them. I still appreciated the chauchat video. I have had been having a hard time making that gun work for me and all that helped.
The M3 Infrared is a kinda fun spammy weapon, a bit like the P08 Carbine (or the Trench Carbine without the auto-fire function). It definitely feels like the infrared scope is more of a hindrance than a help though! Not saying that it should highlight all enemies a bright white against a completely black background but I think having people stand out a bit more than they currently do would help. Can't remember the exact specs I use other than Quick Reload and Recoil Buffer. It's also good for just spamming into crowds of enemies and spotting them thanks to the Sniper perk - if you're hidden, the enemy won't know where you're shooting from thanks to the suppressor. In any case, glad to hear the guide for the Chauchat helped!
Yeah, it's not an easy 'pick up n' play' weapon. The Chauchat demands some investment in order to get effective use, but thankfully the specialisations really help out along the way. Hopefully it'll keep feeling satisfying for you!

this felt like the worst gun ever when i first tried it... its starting to feel pretty good now that im used to it and got it fully upgraded
