The only problem I had was that they once again robbed Mulan of a happy ending. I mean Ruby had been with all these guys while under the curse and suddenly she is in love with a woman and not Mulan but Dorothy. So where was Mulan's happy ending? She didn't get one that I could remember.
When I was younger I watched this scence. I didn’t understand because I had never been taught about homosexuality. My mom explained that this is called being lesbian. I still did not understand. Watching this 3 years later. Makes me smile and the bond that ruby and Dorothy has was unbreakable.

People’s issue with them is how fast it was, not the couple itself. Mulan and Red woulda been so cute, but I also like that they show Mulan, like Merida, doesn’t need a relationship to have a happy ending. Dorothy and Red are so good for each other, Dorothy is strong and stable for Red, and then Red helps Dorothy open up. Also in the gay community, “friend of Dorothy” meant gay back in the day. Still does lol, but not used as often since we don’t need to hide it. So Dorothy being gay was a bit on the nose but also hilarious for those who get the nod 😂

Ruby and Dorothy could've been a perfect match for an LGBT couple of this fairytale show, especially by both of them being little girls in their original story with an iconic non-parent family member! but the problem is that they didn't had a good built up, not for me! all the scenes they had in flashbacks were about the first journey they ever had and begin to know what kind of person and creature which one of them are and it could be considered as the beginning of friendship in the best terms, there wasn't anything romantic between them, if they could at least show their development in days in Oz, the same way they did with Alice in Cyrus in spin off and Zelena and Hades in 5x16, or even Merlin and Nimueh in 5x08, it might sound cringy but still cute. well they didn't done a good job in this scenario and their romance literally came out of no where.
