Julie, after 8 months of long covid, I'm still struggling; some days I
have physical energy, and other days I just... don't. Lol. So hearing you talk in this video, about plugging away, doing projects just a little at a time, felt like such a relief! I truly appreciate your videos.
I like the real life that goes on, it makes one feel "ok she's normal, if she can deal with it, so can I". I enjoy watch the progress. Most importantly, I love the inspiration you give me.
I love how your living is coming together. Plucking away at it gets more done than trying to do it all by yourself with a houseful of people "helping" entertain you lol. My absolute favorite part of this entire video is when you stopped to draw with Wryn and she kissed you. OMG my heart melted❤😍😘
Also, seeing that you aren't able to complete one entire room all at once actually makes me feel like you are a REAL human too. I always feel like I'm not working hard enough or fast enough, even though I'm going as fast and hard as I possibly can....Seeing you like this...reassures me that I'm doing fine!!! So thank you for that reassurance that we all have life happening all around us all the time. Definitely makes me feel better!!!!!

It all looks very nice Julie. Your husband must adore you, because you are a treasure. It takes a long time to bring a house together. I’ve been working on a small apartment for the last four years and I still don’t have art over my sofa! Still looking for something that makes me smile, and of course it has to be cheap. Lol When working on a budget we often find something better than what we found the last time and things change as we go, but ultimately they get there. I think you’re just doing a great job.

@@JuliesDesignsandSigns I hate sealing as well but I have found that any high traffic areas still need sealing……ugh , they have an amazing sealer called tough coat, bullet proof🤪
Everything looks great. It's nice to see that your projects don't get done all at once and it all takes time. We have a million projects going on here and I'm glad to know that you have the same thing going on. Painting a room is the worst but it really makes a difference.

I used drop cloth to make tab curtains for our rental apartment sliding door. I love using it for so many things. I buy at my small local hardware and they are as cheap there as driving 60miles to nearest Walmarts

Julie, Thank you so much for sharing! Watching this video, it feels like you are speaking to me! This is exactly how most of my projects/renovations are going lately! Between toddlers, weather, and stock issues...sometimes I feel like I never actually accompolish anything! It's nice to know that it isn't just me and to have the reminder to be kind to yourself. Llife gets busy and it's OK to not have everything perfect (or perfectly complete) exactly when you planned. Thank you for your honesty and taking the time to share!

Everything is coming together! One suggestion: pull your sofa away from the wall and put a narrow sofa table behind it. Gives you something to stage things on and will look good with your big window. And I agree that a tall piece of furniture would look good between the sofa and the "door wall", maybe a nice antique desk.
I agree, I think an antique knock down armoire would look great in that space behind or next to the couch. Love your style. Definitely mine as well.

Hope everyone is well and doing better. I LOVE neutrals, and I loved this video, people and animals in and out make no difference to me, that's just life. I love all the projects you've done and can't wait to see what's next. I agree 100% you need some kind of large piece of furniture or something in that space at the end of the couch. Maybe a large homemade tree branch ladder you can hang blankets or even florals on, just an idea.

Julie, so many people are using oven cleaner to strip stain. Take it outside, spray on oven cleaner, cover with Saran Wrap overnight and get the water hose to wash it off. Works really well.

Looks great. Nothing is ever really complete in a home. Work and rework. I agree about the doors, so time consuming and piddly. Which reminds me...I have two more to get done!

Everything is comi g together nicely. I love the Ikea sofas. I have 2 Ektorp chairs and the love seat. Only bought 1 chair new. Others were used. Just replaced the covers is all. Love how you can build your own stuff. So jealous of that. Hope everyone stays healthy.

This isn't my personal design style but I do like that you refreshed your space for your family. I agree sitting around when I can do something to make my home better is much better than not doing anything at all. I can't wait to see how you finish the space and add artwork. Have you considered maybe having a sofa table behind the one sofa to hold photos and drinks since the coffee table is so far away from either sofa. Or have you thought about flipping the one sofa off the wall and putting it on the side where the other cabinet and mirror are? Maybe moving it closer so that you still had the space to walk through but the sofas face each other and allow conversation. Of course you'd need to move the cabinet but it would make that space a little more private feeling since it has so many walkways in it. Just a suggestion, I don't live in it but I was looking at your space and immediately thought it would maybe feel more put together like that?

I hope you and your family are healthy and past the quarantine. My hubby and I just got over the virus ourselves and it was not fun. Your home is gorgeous and doing things a little at a time is how most of us get stuff accomplished. I've been remodeling this house for a year now and it seems I've barely gotten started.
Everything looks great! That's no surprise though! Girl you are a BEAST with seeing how a space is going to look and then making it happen! ( I know I mentioned it before but we're rebuilding our whole house after Hurricane Ida demolished it and I'm just now getting to the fun decorating inside stuff lol! Ok done w video. I think it’s really looking great! I love my ikea furniture in my family room too. Light neutral and comfortable cozy vibes! You transformed that coffee table, better outcome than I expected! And the entertainment center I’m just blown away. Although not completed we can definitely see the way it will be once finished. I too love how the drop cloth curtains look and have them in my art room. One suggestion, I would finish the seating area with 2 chairs on other side of sofa to finish it off. Like the two wood chairs you previously had in there, or one larger chair that goes w the idea furniture. The large wood armoire would look great by the windows too, and of course more storage! Lol
Great job! Making your own custom entertainment center was the way to go. There probably isn't a pre-made new, or used, one out there that would fit the space as well. Looking good!
This is probably my favorite video you have done so far. Real life interfering with projects. For me it's very inspiring and has me working on my basement! Also re-doing my coffee table as well and that's what's gonna happen after it stops snowing here in Colorado. Lol

I love what you are doing to your home. You inspire me with your creativity and commitment to projects. I love the panels in the foyer and how you carried them to the wall unit. My husband has been a paint contractor for over 20 years and I am not allowed to touch a paint brush in the house. 😂 I love your home made wall unit and your coffee table. We are waiting for our new living room furniture for our family room from Lazy Boy. My husband works all of the time, managing his business and his time off we like to spend together and we decide this time we were going to use the design service that comes with Lazy Boy furniture. We had fun picking the fabrics and rug, coffee and side tables, lamps, and we are changing from a sectional to a reclining sofa with 2 recliners. I also ordered matching custom slip covers because I too, like light colored furnishings but with animals and life, the sofa gets dirty and I had the same thought to get slip covers. Now we are waiting for our furniture and it probably won’t be here until May. We are doing an entire room makeover but we are hiring people this time around, and my husband’s paint crew will repaint the main parts of the house, we are going to use one of his designers to help pick the colors as we are doing makeovers in most rooms as we’ve been here since 2004. I just love watching you put your creative ideas to use. I love the drop cloth curtains. My mom used to buy sheets from Walmart and make her drapes with valances and they looked great and one of a kind. You remind me of my mom when she was young as she could turn anything into something wonderful. Long post, but I wanted to share my experience and also let you know that you give me great ideas. You are one fearless and determined person. 4 kids and a cat and you seem like you are ready to take on the world. Your high energy and smiling and your presence and filming techniques make great videos. I would not be surprised if you are a star (if you wanted) because these are great quality videos and a one woman that does it all. I have 2 Erktorp sofas in my living room too. I also have the Farlov sofa in my TV room. ( it's a kick back and relax sofa). I have washed my sofa covers many times and like you. I put the sofas together myself. They are so well made.
