The theme song fits so perfectly with Angel and his story and the show overall. And it's actually the only opening theme from these shows from the 90's/2000's that I don't find cheesy

Buffy in the comics after the show actually mentions Twilight. The villain for the first arc of the comic named himself that a year or so before the Twilight books came out, and Buffy, on hearing that name, says "my vampire was better."

God I miss this show this theme song is so emotional, and thrilling I remember watching this show everyday at 6 am in the morning before I go to school on that day, and Angel was one of my favorites who's so brave, helpful, and witty but was like a regular twilight character who's not boring, or too emotional. Sure does bring me back memories I can't believe they cancelled the best show on Warner brothers ever I'm pissed off about it it was such a great show. (Sighs) sure does brings back memories from my childhood I wish Warner Bros hadn't cancelled this and Buffy, but at least I can watch it on Netflix.
Angel and buffy are two of the best shows ever. Hands down some of the best character development I've seen.

For me, it was Buffy, but I do like Angel's theme song. But after that, the only show I gave a chance was Veronica Mars...and I just gave up and went to watch some light heart romantic Korean drama. But I think the fans of Buffy are so deep; I've never see any show fans discuss Buffy/Angel characters as in depth as any other TV show fandom.
The show so awesome, it ended on a cliffhanger and it was STILL a good ending.

Ah ah ah, I won't allow you to project your positive outlook on this cancellation. Most chinese cartoons don't DESERVE 5 seasons. Angel was cut down in its prime (how many shows can claim their final season was their best one?) and there's no rationalizing that decision by the network ;_;

I was a proper grown up when Buffy, and then Angel, were first on TV, didn't have a TV set at the time, so only caught a few episodes. Caught up on all episodes of both shows much later. This tune is what really got me into Angel. But shows like these were something new and different back then, I love the quirky humour mixed with the horror elements.

I still laugh that buffy season 8 would've involved Angel posing as 'Twilight," the decieving leader of multiple factions he brings together to "make it easier" on Buffy to deal with them. One is a group that thinks all the slayers shouldn't exist, given it was done by a magic spell, it's "unnatural." The other is like a legion of doom of different powerful beings-demons, forces of evil, vampires-to combat the threat with organization. They work together and in the end it's revealed there leader was Angel. Of course, all this was already done in comic book form a few years at least before the first Twilight book came out, let alone the $5 movie.

The nostalgic of this show, I remmeber waking up in my dark room at like 4 in the morning with the tv on and this would play, but I didn't know what it was about or anything I was to young to appreciate this show.

That's the point. If anything the comics ruined the poignancy of the end of Angel. It's meant to be a completely unwinnable battle yet they're going to try anyway.
chiffmonkey well, as you know it wasn't meant to end that way :P some exec pulled it randomly because of a power play.
The ending seemed somewhat abrupt, but if you listen to the commentary on the DVD, you find that they were struggling to even get this far, what with all the bother with the studio etc.
chiffmonkey It was meant to go more seasons but Joss wanted to move the show to a better day and time and the network were like no your cancelled.

This is one of those things that stays with you forever. I might get old and eventually get the Alzheimer's or the dementia but I guarantee you this will cut through that for a brief moment like a knife of clarity and it will make me happy for that moment.
