When would I use Golden Gate and when would I use ZDM?

You use GoldenGate to achieve zero downtime migration across different platforms and database versions, or while migrating to Oracle Autonomous Database. ZDM is a free tool provided by Oracle that uses GoldenGate (and other Oracle technologies) in the background and automates the process for you, so you don't need to deal with a manual GoldenGate setup.
