Not really compulsory. Is just to add weight to the fabric. You can use doll face as lining if you don't want to add gum stain. But if you have light add to it. And see the difference. I didn't add the dart any more cos someone was interested in corset top and she has a smaller bust and tummy that's why. So it fit me and also fit her better. I don't understand the second question.
