The only downside I see with this right now is that it will create a monopoly. It might be the solution for fixing the boxing circus at the moment, but it will eventually and inevitably go down the shitter like any other monopoly always does.
I know this might be a stupid take, so just try to hear me out. What if boxers fought with other boxers in the same country to compete in earning a title in their own country. Then, later on, champions of other countries can compete on winning a world title. Again, this is probably a stupid idea, but this randomly popped in my head, lol
What will likely happen if they pull this off is that they will start with each of the top 15 of each weight class being a part of the league. But after putting on some super fights between those fighters they will then offer out contracts outside of the top 15 so they can climb the rankings. This is how the UFC currently does it as they have plenty of low ranked fighters that fight. With the UFC spending a lot less money than boxing and have been putting out fights with greater frequency ever since the Saudi’s got involved to make the process of making fights even sooner.
This is how the UFC started, and eventually what it became is a promotion that doesn't pay its fighters near what they're worth. I like the idea in principle. It just needs to be managed in a way that benefits the fighters before anything else.
The only thing i dont like about the saudi is the atmosphere. A tennis match has better crowd reactions. Also gervonta just wanted to fight someone as a preparation for loma/shakur or any other fight because he hadn't fought since april 2023. I think he will finally fight an elite right now. Good vid unc propa 👍🏻
Buying up the promotions is less helpful than buying up all the belts, then binning them. You need promotors to sell fights, most fighters are not gobby salesmen, so you need a mouth to get people excited. Its all about priorities, getting everyone paid and fairly, getting excitement and atmosphere and lastly getting everyone shiny belts imo.
I'm a big fan of MMA, if I'm honest I'm more of a casual in boxing. I know enough to recognise that both sports have huge issues, primarily where the promoters and promotions are concerned. As frustrating as it is not to have the best face the best in any sport, at least boxers at the top level are generally well compensated, as opposed to the greater part of the UFC's roster. I fear given enough time and success, any dominant promotion or 'super league' has the potential to place itself ahead of the fighters.
Rather than buy out the promotion companies, why not buy all the sanctioning bodies. Then they’ll have the power to enforce exciting mandatories and can actually make the champions fight each other. That achieves the same goal as the league without having to make a complicated league structure
One belt per division is just what makes sense. I don't see it being a problem in terms of people getting title shots. It just means the top contender fights will be much more interesting and 'visible'. By visible, I mean it'll be clear that top contender fights are worth watching because they are actually top contenders. Rather than having 80 top contenders spread across 4 organisations, we can have 20 under one. It'll make getting a title shot tougher, as it should be. But will make it much easy for fans to keep up with who's who in boxing and entice new fans to the sport. You could still have other belts for special occasions. Like the WBC diamond belt for matches between two legends who are semi-retired and something like the BMF belt from UFC which generally puts two really exciting competitors together.
Im sorry ben dont look at me in that tone of voice its not my fault your name wasn't mentioned 😂 had me creased uncle propa great work as always bruv 💙👊✌
I'm against this for one reason Propa......by having this league it gates people, that's the beauty of boxing, a person can turn pro in any country and work their way up the ranks. Once this league starts you have to get 'in' before you can do anything. So it might make the best fights but from a limited league pool ......so how can it be the best fighting the best? Bosch!
I like the idea of the best fighting the best. However, the beauty of the mandatory system is that styles make fights and that's how upsets happen. When Buster Douglas beat Tyson, he wasn't a top 15 fighter so he wouldn't have been part of a boxing super league. Same goes for Leon Spinks when he beat Ali. Same goes for Michael Spinks when he beat Holmes. And so on. Upsets are what make the HW division particularly intriguing and this would be lost under a super league type of system.
In theory it will be amazing. No ducking, no politics just pure boxing and proper recognised champs. And all those leaches like wbc sulaiman can get lost. But the only problem is that it can become a monopoly and some fighters will never get a chance to win the championship
Here is my 2 cents. There is this super league with their own belts. Call it the TBL (Turki Boxing League) or what ever. When you win a belt you have to defend it with in 4 months. You can only fight for a TBL belt in a TBL fight, no other belts from other boxing associations can be on the line in a TBL fight. TBL fights are simple 80/20 split on the purse, 80 to winner & 20 to loser. Change the scoring system to stop draws. The TBL fighters are allowed to take other fights outside of the TBL but champions will be locked into that 4 month defend clause. Winning purses for TBL championship fights will be paid on the next TBL fight. This will stop a fighter scooping a big payday, the belt and never coming back to the TBL.
I am that friend who knows nothing about boxing, saw on TH-cams the other day “Ben Whittaker in IBF International light heavyweight title” and I thought “bloody hell I thought he just did all that mucking about for Instagram but he’s in an International (world?) title fight? i need to see this!” Then all the comments are saying he’s going to come unstuck when he fights a British or European title fight. Totally confused. Fridge magnets indeed.
There needs to be change the UFC model is not it. That causes less rights for the boxers, a lot less money for the boxers, less freedom to do what they want. The UFC model is horrible for fighters and isn't any better for fans, as fighters are still protected, the number of fights is around the same as modern boxers which is low compared to the past and drug use is rampant.
Th UFC pay structure sucks, 100%, and will not be carried over to Boxing BUT...The fact that all fighters are in the same promotion and can not duck each other is essential for this broken sport with hundreds of WorldChamps.
@@zGJungle How do we know it won't be carried over, the people creating this would make lots of money if they did. Fighters were not under the same promotion in the past when no ducking occured, and that was because a loss meant so much less, as your ability was based off of what was seen in the ring, it is the fans fault and fighters who left undefeated due to avoiding which is the issue. UFC has protected fighters and ducking occuring all the time. Make it so there are less belts that's how you do it not just have a UFC style promotion 🤦♂️

This would be brilliant
The best finally fighting each other
And the drug cheats gone for good
Love this model means more fights, more competitive fights and helps to build coherent storyline leaving the BS at the gates
Big up Uncle 👏🏻
Boxing and flight of the concords. Genuis
They should scrap all the belts and just keep the Ring magazine belt.
The Turkey is truly excellent
About time too. C'mon Turki.
His Excellency has a good idea, and if Frank and Eddie are onboard the others will be wise to follow.
As long as no Fury’s are involved it will be propa! Bosh!!
Rather than buy out the promotion companies, why not buy all the sanctioning bodies. Then they’ll have the power to enforce exciting mandatories and can actually make the champions fight each other. That achieves the same goal as the league without having to make a complicated league structure
Mauricio salami 😂fantastic
Unify all the major belts, make it clear who's the best of the best and have the best fight the best. I'm all for it.
About fucking time someone stepped in to clean up the boxing mess!
That argument that the the division doesn't move on is what is happening now so the change could be good
One belt per division is just what makes sense.
Bosch!
Ive dreamt of this for boxing. Having less belts is fine. it works in UFC and people get excited for non title fights all the time.
That’s almost as many different belts as Man United has football kits
Almost but not quite
Imagine being a Man United fan
Once upon a time @@SirSalter
And titles
We've been spoiled!
Top class 💯on point👌👍🇬🇧🥊
World champion means little when those words are tossed around everywhere. We need a king on that hill
🤣😝😂😝🤣😝😂Outstanding Content production
Fridge Magnet belt looooool
🤣😂🤣😅😆😆
Propa's on the payroll :( Great atmosphere in Saudi isn't it 😢
Nahhh you can’t prove that. Wait.. maybe we can
He 100% is🤣
I’d say it’ll mostly be in Saudi but like the ufc they’ll probably travel to different countries as well
Well he’s right about how it will be better for the sport
Great atmosphere for fights nobody wants
Big up flight of the concordes
They should take a leaf out of the old WWF and have midcard belts, like the Intercontinental Championship, European, Hardcore and Divas titles
As influential and with as deep of pockets as Turki has I don't see this coming to fruition.
@zGJungle they can be in the same promotion and still duck each other or get 'underserved' title shots, happens all the time in the UFC too....
The model is fantastic, they just need to pay better. It’s a simple fix!
@@ethnicalbert but why would they pay more this model is designed around paying less. What is fantastic nothing will change and without other major promotions things could get much worse
- Like a group of super boxers???
- more like a boxing league
that reminds me i need a new tea towel
I've been saying for years that there were too many belts at world level. I didn't even try to count the others. 1 world belt per weight... and make fewer weight classes as well.
The silver ginger belt is an under rated level up for sure.
good stuff . lets see how it goes
170 champions and, 1,047 championship belts?!?!?!?! Thats F'ing ridiculous that makes absolutely no damned sense.
