  • Photos of all the bus types and paint schemes on MTA agency (local route) NYC buses, mostly Manhattan, Bronx, and Brooklyn. The blue scheme appeared in 1972, the white appeared in 1978, green survived way into the 1980s. A few early fishbowls went straight from green to white. The 870s frames, cracked in 1982, so 150 reserve buses from WMATA were sent up here in a huge caravan to fill in until repairs were made. In 1984 all 870s were withdrawn due to a couple of fires. All this ruckus made for some very interesting bus fanning all sorts of fleet shuffling and keeping tired 20 year old buses running or fully overhauled. This was on top of the struggles of the private carriers (not in this video) of which there so many you needed two hands to count them all.

    Once again TrainLuvr steals the show again with this wonderful photo slideshow of classic Busses prowling the streets of NYC in the late 70s and early 80s, honestly when I am bored and down I rather binge watch TrainLuvr playlist of videos than Netflix or any paid streaming service hats off again to you Train Luvr

    Thanks for showing me NYC from the year of my birth! The fishbowl busses were definitely a part of my youth in The Bronx! White with the blue stripe down the middle. That 80's era bi-colored M logo. The near-doorbell chime you'd get from pulling the stop-request string hanging from both sides of the bus. And God, could those babies speed down a boulevard! GMC really knew how to build, seeing how they were nearly 30 years old by the time those photos were shot.

    What a lucky catch to film an 80s refurbished fishbowl in 2016!

    That advertisement for Fritz the cat at 3:35, boy what a film that was lol. These New Look buses from GM and Flxible were incredible, it's too bad they looked battered at retirement, but they moved the millions throughout their service life. Thanks for the slideshow, enjoyed it.

    A very unique place New York City and I always wanted to go. Sadly it looks too modern and too dull nowadays.

    What train car is that in 4:55? The grey one at the end. Is that an R44/R46?

    • @trainluvr
      @trainluvr  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is an R44 shell on the clearance test train, equipped with feelers at the ends and center, to detect obstructions for removal before the first 75 footers appeared in 1971.

    You have a few vintage buses in here but I wouldn't shoot any fireworks off about it , plus you flash from one shot to another so fast that one couldn't enjoy the what their watching , If I were to rate this video on a 1-10 , 1 being the worst and 10 being the absolute best , I'm sorry to say it would be a (2) .
