Amigo is my best purchase of 2024. When I started in music it was in trackers on my Amiga 500. When I switched to pc and sold my Amiga I tediously nullmodemmed all my sample floppies. I couldn't open them ever and the zip traveled with me for decades. Amigo however reads them, unlocking samples with datestamps going back to 1987. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I had this moment in 2020 when I catched up to about 10 years of new stuff happening and I went a bit overboard in the other direction though
There were a few other great ones that came out, not just in the last 3 months. Harmony Bloom by Mario Nieto, Infinite Flow from Silen, Zyklop from Dawesome was free plus their Myth synth, Madrona Labs Sumu, and CableGuys SnapBack. Plus there was a decent amount of different GForce drops this year, remake wise, like the Oberheim OB-X and the IconDrum. Hardware wise - all kinds of stuff... I'd love to get my hands on the PolyBrute 12, but that sound in the Moog Muse is hard to pass on. Are you going to NAMM 2025? I may pick up a new guitar, after I see what's new at NAMM. I think Novation may drop their new SL line of controllers, but I already have a Push 3 now, so I don't really care about getting more keys, as I am on to synth collecting and maybe a new guitar or two in 2025. Happy New Year!
I thought for sure you’d mention Current 2 by Minimal, or even the Fuse compressor. Both are real standouts. Current 2 is basically what you’d get if Serum and Vital were combined, and built by a team of German DSP prodigies.
My biggest gripe about equator is that it’s named CURVES equator in the plugin list, I always look in the wiring spot before remembering what it’s actually called
Fab Filter ProQ 4 ripped off the "instance list" in Sonnox Claro, which also tells you where there is frequency build up by changing color. Claro doesn't have a dynamic feature but otherwise is an amazing EQ plugin. Picked it up for $20.
Chroma was just so useful for me It changed everything about how everyone makes colour bass The spectral conpressor by robert vdh is also very good idk if thats 2024 tho Ewam Bristow has been putting in the work this last year
The synth plugin I miss is the one that can map its own harmonics/overtones out to a visible piano roll. I only understood this since I've watched Objective Harmony's video on gamelan, but the point is: you can have whatever amazing sound in isolation, but it can fall totally flat with other instruments or even with itself in a chord if the overtones don't align (mind blowing mini fact that even piano tuners tune the very low registers a bit off key to make sure that the overtones don't clash with the higher keys). We have now the 666th amazing synth plugin where you can totally create sounds that don't fit with anything else a band plays.
The gain staging on the hardware Blofeld is all over the place so I guess Waldorf wanted it to be true to the original. Does the effects section suck too like the hardware?
My favorite (updated) plugin is VSL MIR Pro 3D since they added GPU Audio. Best convolution reverb. (Forgot when they released it though.) Had a lot of fun with Reason 13's new Ripley echo/fx device, enjoyed Noisy 2 and FilterTable, but otherwise been finding more pleasure in getting deeper with evergreen plugins like PhasePlant, Melda stuff, etc.

Waves Equator is a banger though. I like it the most among that genre of plugin. Beam sounds really good too. Orion is pretty good, works killer on 808s
