They don't have a very orderly method of routing power and communication cables, looks like a big spider web.
As people have commented it would be nice to see the area cleaned up. The problem is the people have no where to put any garbage so it get thrown on the street, in the ocean or anywhere. Many parts have lots of poor people, Cebu, Ormoc City, etc, so sad.. The fishermen I have talked to keep going out farther to be able to catch fish due to pullulation. Going into a McDonalds and having a 2 / 3 year old come up to you outside looking for money as the parent is standing 20 feet away sending them to you.... horrible. You can't help them all but anybody going please try to give what you can. I kept my money in my left front pocket and kept extra in the right, this way when someone I wanted to help came I could give reasonable amounts without opening a wallet. Most are happy with anything, kids even are happy with food.
This is the Philippines version of the projects in the USA, most are squatters.

Garbage all over the streets. Wish somebody would educate the people on how to clean up your area. It would so much more beautiful without trash everywhere.
Hard to watch at times.
Why don't children go to school and grownups get a job..instead of standing around and trashing everywhere!
I used to wonder the same prior to traveling there and experiencing their environment first hand.
To address your questions, the Philippines is a place of extremely few opportunities. They barely have a legit education system. Can you imagine having to pay tuition to earn a degree just to get an entry level job as a front desk clerk at a hotel? Then, once you have this job, the pay isn’t significant enough for you to afford your own basic necessities and on top of that your obligations to your family supersedes your desires in life?
There are women who have regular jobs and still have to resort to other means to generate extra income because the pay is so little. Until the Philippine economy gets some type of miraculous makeover, I’d say the best thing they can do is implement some degree of birth control for teens and young adults.
