    By far the best videos out there. Sad that there isn't more with Matrix 8.

      Thank you.
      I'm hoping next year to finally get around to building a new video series. In the meantime, I've made a list of my favourite video tutorials for various CAD programs on my blog:

    Mohammed al-sharif - I'm glad you like.
    In this case, the bezel shape you've made is no longer possible to use with the Cut to Finger Rail command. So you'll have to make another ring rail of the same size. Just add an additional ring rail, and when it says "do you wish to replace the existing rail?" click No.
    Hope that helps.

    Hello, Your page is so helpful, your blogs amazing. One question Could I Use this program for design big size stones jewellery like semi-precious stones and different shape(Cabochons)?

    • @CADJewellerySkills
      @CADJewellerySkills  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the kind words.
      For cabochons, you can either build your own stones and settings manually (as I teach in my courses), or you can use the cabochons inside their own Gem Loader, which will work with the Bezel Builder with a bit of tweaking of default options.

    Great tutorial, you should continue this series! Theres a limited amount of tutorials online for beginners. At the start I had no clue but now I understand the basic principles of designing in matrix! Could you make a ring from start to finish? or would that take too long to fit into a video? Thank anyway :)

      Thank you for that. You're right about the dearth of good tutorials online for Matrix.
      I've tried my best to collect what good tutorials there are onto my blog after I vet them. Have a look and see if this helps:

    VIV JY - The most common things which can go wrong on this exercise are as follows:
    1.) You absolutely have to have a ring rail and a flat curve shape in the Looking Down view before hitting the Make Rail command. If you're missing the ring rail (or if your ring rail has been modified or broken) this will not work. Likewise, if your flat curve shape is not flat in the Looking Down view, this will not work.
    When in doubt, the best thing to do is to select everything, delete it, and start fresh.
    2.) Once it's been made, if the custom ring rail hasn't been Rebuilt (with the Rebuild Curve command), the sweep you get from this shape will likely be broken into three pieces. This is because 1 rail sweep doesn't seem to like sharp corners. Fortunately, it's an easy fix (simply rebuild it).
    Give it another go and see if these help.

    hi, thnx for amazing tuorial, but if i may ask how to cut the ring rail to match the bezel?

    • @CADJewellerySkills
      @CADJewellerySkills  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mohammed al-sharif - Do you mean how to get the ring rail to follow around the bezel? Or do you mean making an open shank where a bezel can drop in?

    hi, i`m new to rings and cad jewelry and i have a question: why is it necessary to add a bezel to this ring? won`t the stone be fixed in the ring`s arms ?

    • @CADJewellerySkills
      @CADJewellerySkills  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +danny3man - Stone setters need metal to fold over the stone's girdle (widest point), as well as something underneath the stone with which to keep the stone from rocking back and forth. You could certainly embed some sort of side-wall into the arms, but you would still need a gallery bar underneath the stone to keep it from rocking around or shaking loose.
      If you're still not clear what I mean, talk to a diamond setter.
      Hope that helps.

      +Elvin Tosun Hi Elvin. It's a good question, and one I'm asked more often than you think. So often, in fact, I wrote a FAQ page to answer. Check out my answer here:
