just saw them play on saturday in toronto - the energy was high and the performance was awesome. you could tell andrew was missing doing vocals, he jumped in a lot while shredding!!!
The drummer is responsible for keeping the tempo... can't control the speed of each band member though... Speed is how fast you can play it... Tempo/Time (referring to the time sig) and keeping the correct tempo is up to the drummer.... Drumer can also, and would generally set the speed of the tempo from the point at which the song/songs begin.... Or basically whoever begines the intro??... sets the speed... up to the drummer to speed up to or slow down the tempo.... If one starts playing faster/singing faster etc. generally the speed of the whole band will pick up to it and the drummer should be able to speed up/slow down will maintaining the songs tempo.... Hardcore bands will generally play their songs faster (speed) live than it's on there recording.... In this case?? Someone fucks the speed at the 2:45ish second mark in this.... Drummer (i think).... This live finishes a few seconds after the recording.... So this is actually a hardcore band playing at a slower pace and slower tempo than original.... This is the slowest i've ever herd this song been played live..... But when I saw them play this live last?? - was atleast 5 years before this.... That band is not the CBK I remember.....
When he gets tired and lays off the vocals a bit he starts to sound more like the actual record. I wonder why he switched over to screaming instead of the og CBK yelling? Seems more difficult.
In my opinion, yelling is harder to control in terms of pitch if you are not putting enough singing behind the yell. Screams restrict the singing vocal, and are more of a breathy pitch sound which is easier to control
