This woman is a life saver different people for different thing hyram reviews stuff you actually show when to use it and how during quarantine I didn't get to go to my dermatologist
I can't get over just how lovely you are... you are so specific in each step and how you explain even the simplest thing as to how to properly wash your face. It's like you are God send for our youth who dont yet know exactly how to help heal or cure their skin issues. God bless you Melissa dear ♡ and God bless every viewer who reads this. I so want to learn makeup techniques from you I just use lipstick and mascara I'd like to do it up sometimes ;0)
Hey again!🥰 Thank you so much for such kind and lovely words, those truly mean a lot to me!❤️ I'm glad that you like the way I record my videos and that it is easy for you to understand the different steps - that's my goal so that my viewer can use the products correctly🥰 Well, if you go back some months/years ago...I have uploaded some great makeup tutorials which you may want to look into😊 What would you like to learn and add to your makeup routine?
I have been trying to get this Paula's choice product but confused this is well understood thank you very much because I have done more damage than good to the face . Very well explain.
I would highly recommend letting the skin dry between using the toner and the BHA solution, just to avoid irritation as acids can penetrate much further when skin is wet. Also beware of daily exfoliation as it may compromise your skin barrier, it is not needed. I would recommend only exfoliation a maximum of twice a week. Also, make sure you wear sunscreen when using acids at night.
Hello Joana 😀 This is not what Paula's Choice recommends, and so far, I haven't come across any issues while following their advice. www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/basic-skin-care-tips/how-long-to-wait-between-applying-skincare-products.html But daily exfoliation may be too much, but this depends on your skin, some people can use it daily or twice a day, and others don't. You should always adjust it based on your skin needs. Wearing sunscreen when using acids at night 🤔? Did you mean the next day? Also, here is what they recommend for the product: www.paulaschoice.com/skin-perfecting-2pct-bha-liquid-exfoliant/201.html
I had it online a while ago, but I re-recorded it because I wanted to set up a little routine since most people asked me if this is a toner ;) ... I hope that it makes sense 🥴
انا عربية من العراق واتابعك ومستفادة جداً من فديوهاتكِ ومعلوماتكِ🇮🇶💟 I am an Arab from Iraq and I follow you and benefit greatly from your videos and information.🇮🇶💟
this video is so clear and straight to the point. thank you so much! btw, this is completely random but i feel like your voice is very suitable for a news anchor 😂 sounds very professional and fluent 😄
I’ve been looking for this video for days! Thank you so much because it’s so helpful! There’s no video that shows a routine including the exfoliant so this is such a blessing 😭💕
You are so very helpful, thank you. When I was brand new to skincare and I would buy these products recommend by dermatologists and skincare junkies, but the directions are usually like "use am or pm. Apply small amount after cleansing." and time like "but how often should I use it? What else can I use it with? I just need more information!" Now I'm better with my products and I kind of know what works and what doesn't.
Hey thank you :) It is easy to figure out this information most videos are just very confusing see here: The Ordinary What Each Product Does: th-cam.com/video/8pPkLWz5S0U/w-d-xo.html How to Create an Advanced Skincare Routine with The Ordinary & Paula’s Choice: th-cam.com/video/Ygt-Fak-lL0/w-d-xo.html The Ordinary For Beginners: th-cam.com/video/diaLVk_EsI4/w-d-xo.html
finally! a video where they show you how to actually apply the exfoliant on your face. A lot of "How to use____" videos just talk about the product. thank you!
I’ve been looking for a tutorial on how to use this for AGES because I have just got it and everyone just tells how to apply it but you show us a full skincare routine on what to do! Thanks so much this video was very helpful! I’ve subscribed and liked this video thanks!
this is the first video out of millions of skincare routines i’ve watched where toner wasn’t the third step. and the moisturizer thing... my sister is a dermatologist and she was scared when she saw this hahahah. i’ve done a lot of research and follow a lot of dermatologists and if your skin is oily, your skin is over producing oil because your skin is so dry. that’s my skin. i never used moisturizer because i thought it would make me look greasy. once i started using it, my skin completely changed. moisturizer is used to prevent wrinkles. doesn’t matter your skin type USE moisturizer. USE MOISTURIZER.
The toner is the second step. A toner helps to replenish the skin because the cleanser strips its natural oils' when washing your face. The toner gives back the ingredients it needs to prepare for the exfoliant or the serums that follow. In case you have an exfoliating toner as The Ordinary or Pixi has, it will still be your second step, and you would skip the hydrating soothing toner. Your skin is producing oil because of many things: hormones, genetic factors, food, lack of moisture etc. It will not solve the issue when you apply a moisturizer if you do not address the real problem for the cause. You can compensate dry skin with a moisturizer, or oily skin with oil-controlling products, but it is not needed when you only lack hydration. If you have normal skin and your skin's function is not faulty there is not need for a moisturiser. It's all about giving your skin what it needs. Just saying that most of the dermatologist on TH-cam, Instagram are NOT real dermatologists, and do NOT have a doctor's office, they simply use the same information that is broadly available online. It's a trend. They are salespersons that want you to buy all their stuff or have affiliate links with coupon codes etc. So that you purchase the next product, you do NOT need. Most are getting it wrong because they just copy it from Google (first SEO optimised articles, with affiliate links) Or copy the other person's content, have secret groups where they set up the next big thing to suck in as many people they can, or marketing agencies doing it. And if you like to use one, just go ahead and do so it's your skin, so do whatever you feel is right.
This was very helpful! Just started Paula’s Choice 2% BHA exfoliant today and I’m very confident in how I used it, thanks to this video. Can’t wait to see how it works with my skin! Thank you so much 💟
I use my Paula's choice on dry skin after cleansing as when i used it on my damp skin with toner my skin got irritated as damp skin increases absorption of products
Thank you so much for this video. Im completely new to doing skin care and I just bought this product and my gosh I couldn't understand how to use it, like before my toner or after my oils or before my second cleanse. Thank you so much for this!!! 🙇♀️🙇♀️
Melissa Van Dijk Ughh people are probably gonna laugh at me for not researching first but I used the Clinique system and the wash that come with it but I didn’t know a lot about skincare and ingredients so I just kept using it up until a year ago
Your videos are very informative and you clearly put in so much effort to mention everything there is to know 😍 i'm glad i discovered your channel. Thank you 🙏🏻
Great video. I personally don't use cotton pads for the toner unless it's an AHA glycolic acid toner. I just pump it in my hands then Pat it in. I try to use as few cotton pads as I can as cotton uses a lot of water to grow. I would get reusable cotton pads that you can wash.
Wow, I didn't know that. "According to WWF, it takes more than 20,000 liters (5,283 gallons) of water to produce just one kilogram (2.2 pounds) of cotton, which roughly equals one T-shirt and a pair of jeans." Are there any reusable cotton pads that you can recommend 🤔?
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I can't recommend any based on use but a quick google of reusable cotton pads will give you many options some are cotton some are bamboo and you just put them in the washing machine in a net bag. What I can recommend is putting your toner in these bottles makes dispersing them in your hand so easy.www.amazon.com.au/Acetone-Dispenser-Lockable-Alcohol-One-Touch/dp/B07PXPYYG6
Hi my skincare routine: 1. Sebamed soap 2. Neurogena water based gel moisturizer 3. Cetaphil sunscreen (daytime) Just what to ask where will i include the BHA Paula in my skincare routine. TIA😊
I'm new to this product but lots of people have recommended it for me, is it better would u say to use it at night or in the day BC I have oily skin!! Is it ok to use a water based mousteriser after?? Thankyou so much for this video u explained everything so well and I found it rly helpful ❤️
Hey :) Yes, I recommend using it in the PM. Try it the way I demonstrate in the video or if this may be a bit too strong for you, use it like a 'mask', apply it evenly with a cotton pad and rinse it off after 10-15min and then follow it with your moisturiser if you should feel the need of using a moisturiser :) You may be able to use it more often during the week when using it like a ''mask'', and it still can be effective :)
how are you the only channel that manages to cover skincare products sooooo clearly like no one understands how appreciative i am honey😫 i’ve been using your videos to try and create a routine for myself and i’ve finally developed one, can you please tell me if there is any issues or if i should adapt anything AM i go in with micellar cleansing water and then i apply bha, then hylarunouc acid then absorbic acid, after i apply my moisturiser and then spf at night i wash my face with cerave hydrating cleaner apply the bha and then hylarunoc acid and then apply my niacinimide or absorbic acid depending on the day and proceed with my moisturiser, i feel like i’m not layering my products correctly bc my skin keeps flaking, let me know and thank you for your videos 💖
The routine looks good. The flaking happens because you use too much product or too many products in a row. It's usually the product that is too much that sits on top of the skin and balls off. I recommend watching the following videos: The Ordinary Product "Pilling" Hyaluronic Acid And Niacinamide - What You Need To Know! (Snakeskin): th-cam.com/video/l_C7HtO826A/w-d-xo.html How To Avoid Sunscreen Pilling: th-cam.com/video/D0XXPqBkwB0/w-d-xo.html Skin Care Routine Order Morning and Night: th-cam.com/video/SZr-0xZq6UE/w-d-xo.html And thank you very much 🥰
Hey, I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for this - a friend of mine studying beauty therapy and a bunch of other cosmetic / care courses has been trying to walk me through "How To Skincare" but she's in Australia so isn't always available. I confess I reached the stereotypical "guy problem" where I had the 2% BHA, my cotton pads, and NO clue what to do. Especially how much to apply or did I dab it, sweep it, etc. Thank you.
Hi! Thank you so much for this video it was so Helpful. You’re skin is amazing! I was just wondering if this is okay for a routine: Cerave hydrating cleanser Paulas choice 2% bha exfoliant The ordinary hyaluronic acid Cerave moisturizer
I broke out or purged bad after using this so I too stopped using it, which was sad 😔 as it made my skin look AMAZING at first and everyone kept asking what I was doing to my skin!
Hey i love how informative your videos are!!!!♥️♥️ I wanted to ask u if its ok to use the Murad rapid dark spot correcting serum in the morning And the pc bha in the evening ?? Pls let me know
Hey! :) Well, it does not mention a % of Glycolic Acid, so I assume that it is pretty gentle. So, yes, this can work. However, don't forget sunscreen during the day to protect the skin! :)
Hey I just wanna start skincare, so I have bought a few stuffs so here is my routine... Am Cerave foaming cleanser Good molecules niacinamide brightening toner Cerave daily moisturizing lotion Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream spf 50+++ Am Same as pm without spf.. How do I introduce 2%bha to my routine..?????can I use this at the same time while using niacinamide toner?????which do I apply first the toner or exfoliant???
Not sure if that lotion in the morning is really needed as COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream is already very moisturizing. AM: Cerave foaming cleanser Good molecules niacinamide brightening toner Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream SPF 50+++ PM: Cerave foaming cleanser Good molecules niacinamide brightening toner Paula's Choice BHA (Optional Moisturizer)
I really needed this video it was very clear and helpful thank you! Do I have to use a sunscreen if I apply a moisturizer after using the BHA if I use it at night?
Please advice Step 1 . Cleanser Step 2 . Toner Step 3 . BHA 2 Step 4 . Moisturiser When to use sunscreen?? And that too when to follow this routine twice a day or in the night or morning?? Please advice
Hey! :) Please watch the video below, if the one you currently watched wasn't clear enough. How to use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliant:th-cam.com/video/leaORDqh75A/w-d-xo.html
If I moisturize too much, my skin breaks out in "fungal acne" and looks terrible (obviously not really acne, but it is fungal). So yes, I think moisturizer is optional 😊👍
I love your videos! You’re on point and so precise ❤️ Can I use the 20% niacinamide treatment serum instead of the 10% along with the BHA exfoliant? Thank You! 🌸
Hey :) I am still testing this. It works yes. However, the chances of getting an irritation are higher.(Redness) I will record a video about that combination soon :)
I just got this product! I also have the ordinary niacinamide 10% zinc 1%. Should I use them together or one for one day and one for another? I also have a salicylic acid moisturizer. Sorry I’m kind of new to all of this.
HI :) You shouldn't use niacinamide and the Paula's choice exfoliant together because they have different pH levels so it might make you break out and you won't get the full effect of the products. So, what I do is, I use the Paula's choice exfoliant 2-3 times a week and I use the niacinamide on the other days. If you really want, you can apply the niacinamide 30 minutes after applying the exfoliant but I haven't tried that so I don't know if it would work as well.
There is no harm in using those products at the same routine. The pH levels do not matter; you can apply the products right after another. It only matters when you use products that are not correctly formulated, which is difficult to find nowadays. It indeed exists, but none of the established brands have such products. Paula's Choice also has an article about this, which you can find right here: www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/basic-skin-care-tips/how-long-to-wait-between-applying-skincare-products.html Having said that, if you like to wait in between, just go for it. If you have the time and feel better when doing it, just do it :) But it does not affect the outcome of your skin. Regarding the moisturizer, it depends. If it has a high % of Salicylic Acid 2% or even more, it may irritate your skin. However, this all depends on your skin type and the concerns you want to target. In your case, it may be best not to use them after another to avoid skin irritation. Use it every other day, see how your skin responds, and adjust based on that.
Wow you were so helpful! I was just using the acid after my niacinamide hahaha (instructions put it like the exfoliant should be the last thing). Thanks! 💜
Hi melissa! Yes , this video is so helpful especially to new in skin care routine like me❤️. I cant wait to use my paula’s choice exfoliant! Thanks for the step by step guide!🥰
Very helpful video. I have learnt a lot! I have tiny bumps on my forehead, cheeks and jaw line. More like closed comedones..I’ve just started using Paulas choice bha. Pls could you advice which face wash and moisturiser I can use that won’t clog my pores more and help clear the bumps? Thank you so much because your recommendations would really help me
Hey :) Glad it was helpful! I recommend using PC 2% BHA for a while, 8-12 weeks at least, and see if it can help you with those bumps before using anything else since PC 2% BHA can help reduce them over time! :) If you have oily skin, you may not need a moisturiser, but you may want to look into a hydrating serum instead. Such as Vichy's Mineral 89 or something similar to it! :) As for cleanser, PC has lots of different cleansers too, I like the Earth Sourced one so far the most or The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser. Those are gentle cleansers :)
Hello 😀 No, no need to wait in between. You can layer the products right after another. Or what I like to do is wait 30 seconds to 1 minute because it feels much better. So test it to see what you like most :)
Hi Melissa, thank you for always answering the question of your followers, it is really appreciated :) •Can I use Paula's Choice BHA liquid exfoliant and then the Ordinary Resveratrol + Ferulic Acid?
Hello Camila, It should work. However, the combination may not be very suitable for sensitive skin, and in general, The Ordinary Antioxidants are very potent. So basically, you need to test the combination to see if you like it. But yes, they do not conflict in case you meant that 😃
Gorgeous! Do you have to wait for the BHA to dry before applying your moisturizer? Or do you apply your moisturizer right away? I don’t want my skin to dry out, but I also don’t want my moisturizer to mix with the BHA and lessen its efficacy.
Hey :) After the application of your BHA, give your skin 30 seconds to a minute so that the product can sink into the skin and then move on to your moisturiser :)
Hello!:) I am going to add a few new produkts to my rutine, but I would love your opinion! Morning rutine would be: - Cleanser - Paulas BHA Exfoliant (New product, would first try once every other day) - Niacinamide 10% + zinc - Azelaic Acid 10% (New, worried how it would mix with the BHA) - Oil free gel cream - Sunscreen (New, should have began long time ago) Night rutine: - Cleanser - Niacinamide serum from odinary - Oil free gel cream - Epiduo (Anti acne cream , contain: adapalen/benzoyl. peroxid) I have combination skin and zero acne because i have used epiduo, acne cream, a few years. I am considering to stop with it since i am acne free, but left with dark spots and big pores i cant get rid off. Adding the following produkts and what reason: -- BHA, big pores -- Azelaic Acid, dark spots Also, would it be best to switch between the BHA and Azelaic Acid? Maybe even not using niacinamide twice a day? I am worried about cross-reactions and applying to much product at once. Your feedback would mean a lot!
Could look something like this Morning routine would be: - Cleanser - Oil-free gel cream - Paula's Choice Azelaic Acid 10% - Sunscreen Night routine: - Cleanser - Paulas BHA - Niacinamide 10% + zinc - Oil-free gel cream What tends to work great for me is using a benzoyl peroxide cream only on the few breakouts that I get now and then. So best would be to add other products like Vitamin C or other antioxidants and alternate between them. Or add Retinol 1% from Paula's Choice or La Roche Posay Redermic in your evening routine and use them on different days. This may work great, and your skin will get everything it needs, without overusing the products. The reason why I do not recommend The Ordinary Azelaic Acid, because I am currently on trial and it hasn't shown any results after three weeks for my dark spots :( I use Paula's Choice Azelaic Acid and Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin on other areas, and I can already see some improvements after that time. It may be just coincidence, but I don't think so. Apart from that, those are just ideas. See what works best for your skin, but always incorporate one product after another, and be patient :) Also, you can use Niacinamide in the morning and evening, but when I see my comments most people struggle with twice daily. So I do not recommend it.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you so much for the response! I really appreciate your tips and will try your suggestions:) I am sad that the azelaid acid didnt work, i have heard so much positive feedbacks on it! :/ Regardless, i will try it only because i already bought it... I will do more research regarding other products i could add to my rutine like vitamin c and other antioxidants, but for now i will stick with your tips! :D The amount of diffrent products are overwhelmning, so in additon to the other products you already suggested, is it anything else you could recommend? Keep up the good work! Its simple, straight to the point and really helpfull! I will recommend your channel to as many as i can. Again, thanks alot!
You can do this, I recorded this video today, but I have had issues, and I have to re-record it tomorrow. Anyway, be careful you cannot use Buffet with acids and Vitamin C. The ingredients can neutralize each other. Also, please do not use too much since it tends to pill very quickly; the formulations aren't working well together. (Buffet + Hyaluronic Acid... or generally speaking when using more water based serums in one routine) Yes, try the Azelaic Acid and see how it goes. It feels great on the skin, but the performance for dark spots isn't excellent. But it may work for other concerns 🤷🏼♀️
Dear Melissa, your videos have helped me a lot since I started my skincare routine and I’m very thankful for that ! I have a question about BHA. Usually, I’m using Argireline, Buffet Copper Peptides, Hemp Oil, moisturiser and sunscreen In the morning and granactive retinoid in the evening. Can I include the toner and bha in this daily routine ? Thanks in advance
Hey! :) What toner do you use? I recommend alternating between PC 2% BHA and your Granactive Retinoid. They do not conflict, but it may lead to irritation/dryness, and that's why it is recommended to use them at different times. Also, the Ordinary Peptides conflict with AHA/BHA exfoliating acids - so keep your Argireline Solution and Buffet + Copper Peptides and exfoliant in separate routines.
Yes, that shouldn't be an issue. If you have the smoothing cleanser, it may be a bit drying if you overuse it, but generally, it should work. Just test it :)
Hi! I just received my 2% BHA liquid exfoliate and before I start to use it I wanted to know if it is safe to use a cleanser with 10% benzoyl peroxide. By the way your video is very helpful on explaining how to layer products:)
10% may be a bit strong. So I am not sure about this. I know that it will be fine to use with 2-5% (since Paula's Choice has a set with 2-5% Benzoyl Peroxide), but it may be OK to use since it is a facewash. I recommend trying it and see how it goes. If it's too drying, avoid using it in the same routine.
Mine is fine, it doesn't break me out. I use PC 2% BHA 2x a week as part of my PM routine with CeraVe BP Acne Foaming Cleaner 2x a day. I'm Oily (hormonal) acne prone type. Hope this helps! 😊
Hey!! I just read benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic acid should not be used together. Use one in the morning and the other at night or on alternative days.
@@rhearizwana5043 OMG WAIT, i bought an inkey list salicylic acid and paula's bha one. so like i should use the inkey list one in the morning and the paula's bha one at night? pls reply to me
That depends on your personal skin tolerance. But from my experience, mainly also on the retinol you are using, if you use a low strength 0,3 or less, it shouldn't be much of an issue, but it can get very irritating with higher strength. And the general advice is first to get used to one before introducing the other. That's also what I can advise. So if you are new to retinol, use it for several weeks before using the BHA in the same routine.
I have oily to combination skin i have post acne marks and acne issues(not entire face, just in a portion of my face) now i want to add azelaic acid in my skin care routine.Plz suggest me how do i add it? Here is my routine- Morning: 1.Cerave acne control salysylic acid cleanser 2.Embryollise hydrant cream(sensitive skin) 3.sunscreen Night: 1.Cerave hydrating cleanser 2.differin adepelene gel/paulas choice 2% BHA(alternative days) 3.moisturizer
Well, it would likely be best to add azelaic acid in the morning, using a gentle cleanser, and alternate with Cerave's acne control salicylic acid cleanser. Here's a suggested morning routine: Use a gentle cleanser for example CeraVe Facial Foaming Cleanser Then pat the skin dry with a clean towel. At this point, you could add azelaic acid. Apply Embryolisse hydrating cream (suitable for sensitive skin). Finish with sunscreen. Still, I want to add that you're already using many potentially irritating products like the BHA, retinoid, and the SA cleanser, so you need to balance their usage frequency. Otherwise, this may lead to irritation or sensitivities over time.
hey! i’ve seen you reply to a lot of the comments and i love that you are so involved! my routine is the cerave sa cleanser, then i’m about to slowly add in the paula’s choice product, then moisturizer. at night i use a prescribed benzoyl peroxide treatment. is the cleanser + paula’s choice too much salicylic acid, or is it okay? i have very acne prone skin. thank you!
Hello, 😀 Nobody really knows how much Salicylic Acid is in the SA cleanser, but it must be very low since they do not even mention it. I do not think that it is too much. Paula's Choice has a 9% BHA treatment. My only concern about this is that it can be a bit drying depending on your skin type. I also have an acne treatment with benzoyl peroxide, and I use it after a 2% Salicylic Acid cleanser this works pretty well for me. But ultimately you have to try it and see how your skin responds.
Same ! I also use the cerave sa renewing cleanser and i use the Paula choice bha liquid once a week at night after cleansing with the sa cleanser and use cerave daily moisturising lotion as the last step So its basically - sa cleanser + Paula choice bha + moisturising lotion
You are the best! so clearly explained and done! not much bla bla bla! here is a new subscriber and here is your like! blessings! :D btw... should I rinse the skin after applying the PC 2% BHA?
Hey :) No, you leave it on the skin and rinse it off the next day. Or if you use it in the morning, rinse it in the evening. I have a newer (much better guide) here: How to use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliant: th-cam.com/video/leaORDqh75A/w-d-xo.html And thank you.
Thank you for this amazingly detailed video. I’m new to skin care and this was extremely helpful. I currently have an oily forehead with a dry nose and this is the routine I’m planning on doing: MORNING: CeraVe cleanser, Paula’s choice exfoliate (every other day), moisturizer, CeraVe AM sunscreen spf 30 NIGHT: CeraVe cleanser, moisturizer, CeraVe PM Does this look correct to you? Also for the CeraVe AM sunscreen, does that count as both a moisturizer and a sunscreen? Or is it just a sunscreen? Thank you again 😊
Hey! :) I recommend doing it like this: AM: - Cleanser - PC 2% BHA - CeraVe AM Moisturizer with SPF PM: - Cleanser - Moisturizer You just need one moisturizer in the PM.
just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CONTENT. No one does it as professional and thorough as you 👏🏼 thank youuu if I may suggest a video idea? Maybe good combinations / bad combinations of popular products? Ive been using the Ordinary niacinimide serum them their .5 retinol in squalene every night and it has done WONDERS although now im curious about this BHA for texture and the good molecules discoloration serum for my hyperpigmentation and I cant find any videos that help me understand how to layer these and if it's possible to use them daily or alternate 😅 eitherway thank you again for your wonderful content!!
Hello Tobi, Yes, that is a good idea. However, the issue is that nobody will watch/find such videos unless you help them with some dubious things behind the scenes. But even for that is is very questionable that it would be helpful for people since you have so many different brand combinations. And products do not perform all the same, so you also have to consider what people are wearing during the day, their skin type, and their skin problems and the overall combination etc. That makes it very challenging. That may be the reason why nobody is doing such videos. And thank you very much :)
hi ;)) i'm using niacinamide and alpha arbutin for my skincare and wanted to know if i could use the paulas choice exfoliater in combination of these two serums? is that totally fine or is it to much for the skin? what would you recommend?
Hello Lili, yes that's fine. You may want to watch the following video: How To Use Paula's Choice 2% BHA Clear Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Solution: th-cam.com/video/FOVmVdAPddo/w-d-xo.html Please have a look at the description box to see when the niacinamide starts. The application stays the same, and it's just the other 2% version that Paula's Choice offers.
thank you!! i was confused wether i have to rinse the paulas choice bha exfoliant off after the cleanser or use it after the moisturizer! now i know how to use it. im a young boy and my skin is very oily and full with pimples and blackheads, so i ordered cleanser moisturizer and pualas choice :D
hi, thanks for the informative video! i’d like to ask if it’s suitable to layer TO’s niacinamide right after applying the PC’s BHA exfoliant? from what i’ve read online, it states that niacinamide reduces the effectiveness of acids and you’d be missing out on the benefits of the BHA?
😞 I know, I don't understand why people do this. That's not true. You can layer Niacinamide after your BHA. If you use an exfoliant such as BHA or AHA, Niacinamide is better absorbed. Sometimes you can get a bit of redness when doing it. That's all. If this is the case for you, you just need to space the products further apart. But generally speaking, this does not harm your skin and does not reduce the efficacy of both products. 🙂 You can even get some very popular formulations where both are used in the same formulation, such as the La Roche Posay Effaclar serum.
So i have two question. Do i have to finish it off with a sunscreen if im only using the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Salicylic at night? Also my routine is cleanse-Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Salicylic-Moisturizer. Im thinking of adding CeraVe Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum after Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Salicylic and then follow it up with the moisturizer. Is this a good idea or not?
Hey Melissa😊 Your videos are great😍 I just wanted to clarify few things if you dont mind. Can I can incorporate Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid Booster and the Inkey List Tranexamix acid in the same night-care skincare routine as the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Exfoliant. So if I was to follow this routine, can you please tell me if it would be fine? Step 1: Cerave Foaming Cleanser Step 2: 2% BHA Exfoliant Step 3: Acid Booster or Tranexamic Acid Step 4: Cerave Moisturiser Also, if you could please tell me, would you recommend putting on the Cerave resurfacing retional in the same skincare routine as the 2% BHA Exfoliant since I have to use it every night to achieve best results😅.
Hey! :) You can use PC BHA in the AM, just don't forget to use sunscreen if you have sun exposure. You may be able to use all 3 treatments in the same routine, still, I recommend introducing them slowly. This way it's easier to see what works best for your skin :) You can also use Tranexamic Acid with your Retinol at night and use PC BHA and Azelaic Acid in the AM.
Hi Melissa i just bought this with The Ordinary's Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum, Alpha Arbutin and rosehip seed oil from the ordinary and I'm confused as to which I should use these?
Can I use like this? Cetaphil gentle cleanser Beauty of joseon toner Paula’s choice 2% bha Beauty of joseon glow serum Beauty of joseon Dynasty cream Please reply. ❤
Beauty of Joseon toner is also an exfoliating acid toner. I suggest alternating between the Beauty of Joseon toner and Paula’s Choice 2% BHA to prevent irritation or sensitivities over time.

Can you use hyaluronic acid as a step when you use the BHA liquid?
I can't get over just how lovely you are... you are so specific in each step and how you explain even the simplest thing as to how to properly wash your face. It's like you are God send for our youth who dont yet know exactly how to help heal or cure their skin issues. God bless you Melissa dear ♡ and God bless every viewer who reads this. I so want to learn makeup techniques from you I just use lipstick and mascara I'd like to do it up sometimes ;0)
Hey again!🥰
Thank you so much for such kind and lovely words, those truly mean a lot to me!❤️ I'm glad that you like the way I record my videos and that it is easy for you to understand the different steps - that's my goal so that my viewer can use the products correctly🥰
Well, if you go back some months/years ago...I have uploaded some great makeup tutorials which you may want to look into😊 What would you like to learn and add to your makeup routine?
I have been trying to get this Paula's choice product but confused this is well understood thank you very much because I have done more damage than good to the face .
Very well explain.
So happy to have found this video! I just bought the BHA and was a bit unsure on how to use it properly!
Thank you!
Me too. This video is informative.
Yeah same
I would highly recommend letting the skin dry between using the toner and the BHA solution, just to avoid irritation as acids can penetrate much further when skin is wet. Also beware of daily exfoliation as it may compromise your skin barrier, it is not needed. I would recommend only exfoliation a maximum of twice a week. Also, make sure you wear sunscreen when using acids at night.
Hello Joana 😀
This is not what Paula's Choice recommends, and so far, I haven't come across any issues while following their advice.
www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/basic-skin-care-tips/how-long-to-wait-between-applying-skincare-products.html
But daily exfoliation may be too much, but this depends on your skin, some people can use it daily or twice a day, and others don't. You should always adjust it based on your skin needs.
Wearing sunscreen when using acids at night 🤔? Did you mean the next day?
Also, here is what they recommend for the product:

Woah, perfect timing. I’m researching this product & thought it was an older video of yours, lol. Thank you!

I just need more information!" Now I'm better with my products and I kind of know what works and what doesn't.

finally! a video where they show you how to actually apply the exfoliant on your face. A lot of "How to use____" videos just talk about the product. thank you!
🥰
I’ve been looking for a tutorial on how to use this for AGES because I have just got it and everyone just tells how to apply it but you show us a full skincare routine on what to do! Thanks so much this video was very helpful! I’ve subscribed and liked this video thanks!
Glad I could help!🥰
As a guy looking to take better care of my skin, thanks so much for the tips!
Glad it was helpful! :)
this is the first video out of millions of skincare routines i’ve watched where toner wasn’t the third step. and the moisturizer thing... my sister is a dermatologist and she was scared when she saw this hahahah. i’ve done a lot of research and follow a lot of dermatologists and if your skin is oily, your skin is over producing oil because your skin is so dry. that’s my skin. i never used moisturizer because i thought it would make me look greasy. once i started using it, my skin completely changed. moisturizer is used to prevent wrinkles. doesn’t matter your skin type USE moisturizer.
Thank you so much 💟
You are welcome!

"According to WWF, it takes more than 20,000 liters (5,283 gallons) of water to produce just one kilogram (2.2 pounds) of cotton, which roughly equals one T-shirt and a pair of jeans."
Are there any reusable cotton pads that you can recommend 🤔?
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I can't recommend any based on use but a quick google of reusable cotton pads will give you many options some are cotton some are bamboo and you just put them in the washing machine in a net bag. What I can recommend is putting your toner in these bottles makes dispersing them in your hand so easy.www.amazon.com.au/Acetone-Dispenser-Lockable-Alcohol-One-Touch/dp/B07PXPYYG6
Oh ok😊 Yeah, I've seen those bottles already, and those are great bottles and so easy to use😊

Hey :)
Yes, I recommend using it in the PM. Try it the way I demonstrate in the video or if this may be a bit too strong for you, use it like a 'mask', apply it evenly with a cotton pad and rinse it off after 10-15min and then follow it with your moisturiser if you should feel the need of using a moisturiser :)
You may be able to use it more often during the week when using it like a ''mask'', and it still can be effective :)
the ordinary bottles are so relaxing
Very instructive as well always. I recently purchased my own PC BHA and it will arrive next week. So excited for this. (At my 9th week of Epiduo

how are you the only channel that manages to cover skincare products sooooo clearly like no one understands how appreciative i am honey😫 i’ve been using your videos to try and create a routine for myself and i’ve finally developed one, can you please tell me if there is any issues or if i should adapt anything
AM i go in with micellar cleansing water and then i apply bha, then hylarunouc acid then absorbic acid, after i apply my moisturiser and then spf
at night i wash my face with cerave hydrating cleaner apply the bha and then hylarunoc acid and then apply my niacinimide or absorbic acid depending on the day and proceed with my moisturiser, i feel like i’m not layering my products correctly bc my skin keeps flaking, let me know and thank you for your videos 💖
The routine looks good. The flaking happens because you use too much product or too many products in a row. It's usually the product that is too much that sits on top of the skin and balls off. I recommend watching the following videos:

Step 3 . BHA 2

I feel like a moisturizer shouldn’t be optional with a routine in order to keep up your skin barrier. :)
If I moisturize too much, my skin breaks out in "fungal acne" and looks terrible (obviously not really acne, but it is fungal). So yes, I think moisturizer is optional 😊👍

Thank u... ❤ So much for sharing this. Can i use amlactin after applying this.
I suggest to not do it since it may lead to irritation. If you want to use both, use them at alternate times.
Paula's Choice also has an article about this, which you can find right here:
www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/basic-skin-care-tips/how-long-to-wait-between-applying-skincare-products.html
Having said that, if you like to wait in between, just go for it.
Thanks! 💜
Plz do a skin care for sensitive skin for achieving glowy skin.

Thank you so much because your recommendations would really help me
Hey :)
Glad it was helpful!
I recommend using PC 2% BHA for a while, 8-12 weeks at least, and see if it can help you with those bumps before using anything else since PC 2% BHA can help reduce them over time! :)
If you have oily skin, you may not need a moisturiser, but you may want to look into a hydrating serum instead. Such as Vichy's Mineral 89 or something similar to it! :) As for cleanser, PC has lots of different cleansers too, I like the Earth Sourced one so far the most or The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser. Those are gentle cleansers :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Okay. I will have a look at those other products. I really appreciate your help! Can’t thank you enough 😁

Hi Melissa,I love your videos so much. But I just wanna ask if we still have to wait for 20 minutes upon applying the BHA before moisturizing?
Hello 😀
No, no need to wait in between. You can layer the products right after another. Or what I like to do is wait 30 seconds to 1 minute because it feels much better. So test it to see what you like most :)
Is this product okay to use for sensitive skin? And also is using the Cerave oily cleanser okay to use with this product?

Hi Melissa, thank you for always answering the question of your followers, it is really appreciated :)
•Can I use Paula's Choice BHA liquid exfoliant and then the Ordinary Resveratrol + Ferulic Acid?
Hello Camila,
It should work. However, the combination may not be very suitable for sensitive skin, and in general, The Ordinary Antioxidants are very potent. So basically, you need to test the combination to see if you like it. But yes, they do not conflict in case you meant that 😃
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you ❤️
Gorgeous! Do you have to wait for the BHA to dry before applying your moisturizer? Or do you apply your moisturizer right away? I don’t want my skin to dry out, but I also don’t want my moisturizer to mix with the BHA and lessen its efficacy.
Hey :)
After the application of your BHA, give your skin 30 seconds to a minute so that the product can sink into the skin and then move on to your moisturiser :)
Hi Melissa, very informative video 🙏🏾is hyaluronic acid a good serum to come after the exfoliator?
yes, since salicylic acid can make skin dry, and with hyaluronic acid you are going to increase hydration.
Hello!:) I am going to add a few new produkts to my rutine, but I would love your opinion!
Morning rutine would be:
- Cleanser
- Paulas BHA Exfoliant (New product, would first try once every other day)
- Niacinamide 10% + zinc
- Azelaic Acid 10% (New, worried how it would mix with the BHA)
- Oil free gel cream
- Sunscreen (New, should have began long time ago)
Night rutine:
- Cleanser
- Niacinamide serum from odinary
- Oil free gel cream
- Epiduo (Anti acne cream , contain: adapalen/benzoyl. peroxid)
I have combination skin and zero acne because i have used epiduo, acne cream, a few years. I am considering to stop with it since i am acne free, but left with dark spots and big pores i cant get rid off. Adding the following produkts and what reason:
-- BHA, big pores
-- Azelaic Acid, dark spots
Also, would it be best to switch between the BHA and Azelaic Acid? Maybe even not using niacinamide twice a day? I am worried about cross-reactions and applying to much product at once. Your feedback would mean a lot!
Could look something like this
Morning routine would be:
- Cleanser
- Oil-free gel cream
- Paula's Choice Azelaic Acid 10%
- Sunscreen
Night routine:
- Cleanser
- Paulas BHA
- Niacinamide 10% + zinc
- Oil-free gel cream
What tends to work great for me is using a benzoyl peroxide cream only on the few breakouts that I get now and then.
See what works best for your skin, but always incorporate one product after another, and be patient :)
Also, you can use Niacinamide in the morning and evening, but when I see my comments most people struggle with twice daily. So I do not recommend it.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you so much for the response! I really appreciate your tips and will try your suggestions:)
I am sad that the azelaid acid didnt work, i have heard so much positive feedbacks on it!
I am thinking about adding the buffet serum and the hyaluronic acid for hydration, would it be recommended to use all three serums in one rutine?
You can do this, I recorded this video today, but I have had issues, and I have to re-record it tomorrow.
Anyway, be careful you cannot use Buffet with acids and Vitamin C. The ingredients can neutralize each other. Also, please do not use too much since it tends to pill very quickly; the formulations aren't working well together. (Buffet + Hyaluronic Acid... or generally speaking when using more water based serums in one routine)
Yes, try the Azelaic Acid and see how it goes. It feels great on the skin, but the performance for dark spots isn't excellent. But it may work for other concerns 🤷🏼♀️
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thanks for the quick response! :)
Hello. Loved this video. When can i use the cera ve retinol resurfacing serum when using this?
I suggest using it on the days you not use the BHA :)
Hey! :)
What toner do you use?
I recommend alternating between PC 2% BHA and your Granactive Retinoid.
They do not conflict, but it may lead to irritation/dryness, and that's why it is recommended to use them at different times.
Also, the Ordinary Peptides conflict with AHA/BHA exfoliating acids - so keep your Argireline Solution and Buffet + Copper Peptides and exfoliant in separate routines.
Thanks for making this video
Thoughts on using this and CeraVe SA cleanser in the same routine?

Can I use a bha and a retinol in the same routine or would it be too irritating?
That depends on your personal skin tolerance. But from my experience, mainly also on the retinol you are using, if you use a low strength 0,3 or less, it shouldn't be much of an issue, but it can get very irritating with higher strength. And the general advice is first to get used to one before introducing the other. That's also what I can advise. So if you are new to retinol, use it for several weeks before using the BHA in the same routine.
Can we use hyaluronic acid, followed with Niacinamide then a moisturizer after this exfoliant?
Yes, that's fine!😊
Thanks for posting this video!! Just started using this toner today, it’s like you read my mind lol 😀
The Enriched Calming Toner? 🤔 The Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant is an exfoliant and should not be confused with a toner.
Hiiii! Is this product okay to use with rosehip seed oil from the ordinary and if so what order should I use them in? :)
Yes you can! Bha(exfoliant) goes before the oil
I have oily to combination skin i have post acne marks and acne issues(not entire face, just in a portion of my face) now i want to add azelaic acid in my skin care routine.Plz suggest me how do i add it? Here is my routine-
Morning: 1.Cerave acne control salysylic acid cleanser
2.Embryollise hydrant cream(sensitive skin)
3.sunscreen
Night: 1.Cerave hydrating cleanser
2.differin adepelene gel/paulas choice 2% BHA(alternative days) 3.moisturizer
Well, it would likely be best to add azelaic acid in the morning, using a gentle cleanser, and alternate with Cerave's acne control salicylic acid cleanser.
Here's a suggested morning routine:
Use a gentle cleanser for example CeraVe Facial Foaming Cleanser
Then pat the skin dry with a clean towel.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet okay, thank you so much for responding! new sub 💕
😀 Welcome :)
Same ! I also use the cerave sa renewing cleanser and i use the Paula choice bha liquid once a week at night after cleansing with the sa cleanser and use cerave daily moisturising lotion as the last step
So its basically - sa cleanser + Paula choice bha + moisturising lotion
Hi! How is your acne prone skin now? Did the Paula's choice helped?
You are the best! so clearly explained and done! not much bla bla bla! here is a new subscriber and here is your like! blessings! :D btw... should I rinse the skin after applying the PC 2% BHA?
Hey :)
No, you leave it on the skin and rinse it off the next day. Or if you use it in the morning, rinse it in the evening.
I have a newer (much better guide) here:
How to use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliant:
th-cam.com/video/leaORDqh75A/w-d-xo.html
And thank you.
Thank you for this amazingly detailed video. I’m new to skin care and this was extremely helpful. I currently have an oily forehead with a dry nose and this is the routine I’m planning on doing:
MORNING: CeraVe cleanser, Paula’s choice exfoliate (every other day), moisturizer, CeraVe AM sunscreen spf 30
NIGHT: CeraVe cleanser, moisturizer, CeraVe PM
Does this look correct to you? Also for the CeraVe AM sunscreen, does that count as both a moisturizer and a sunscreen? Or is it just a sunscreen? Thank you again 😊
Hey! :)
I recommend doing it like this:
AM:
- Cleanser
- PC 2% BHA
- CeraVe AM Moisturizer with SPF
PM:
- Cleanser
- Moisturizer
You just need one moisturizer in the PM.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Cool! I greatly appreciate it 🙏
just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CONTENT.
Hello Tobi,
Yes, that is a good idea.
Can I use this toner in the morning ? Also with the ordinary Azelaic acid suspension %10 ?
Well, according to the Ordinary, you should not mix multiple acids. So it may be best not to use them in the same routine to avoid skin irritation.
This video was so helpful. Thanks for posting!
hi ;)) i'm using niacinamide and alpha arbutin for my skincare and wanted to know if i could use the paulas choice exfoliater in combination of these two serums? is that totally fine or is it to much for the skin? what would you recommend?
Hello Lili, yes that's fine. You may want to watch the following video:
How To Use Paula's Choice 2% BHA Clear Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Solution:
th-cam.com/video/FOVmVdAPddo/w-d-xo.html
Please have a look at the description box to see when the niacinamide starts.
You can wash it off after 15min, if you like to! However, it is a leave-on exfoliant which doesn't need to be rinsed off! :)
hi, thanks for the informative video! i’d like to ask if it’s suitable to layer TO’s niacinamide right after applying the PC’s BHA exfoliant? from what i’ve read online, it states that niacinamide reduces the effectiveness of acids and you’d be missing out on the benefits of the BHA?
😞 I know, I don't understand why people do this. That's not true. You can layer Niacinamide after your BHA. If you use an exfoliant such as BHA or AHA, Niacinamide is better absorbed. Sometimes you can get a bit of redness when doing it. That's all. If this is the case for you, you just need to space the products further apart. But generally speaking, this does not harm your skin and does not reduce the efficacy of both products. 🙂
You can even get some very popular formulations where both are used in the same formulation, such as the La Roche Posay Effaclar serum.
Her skin is glowing, do you have to wash your face off after using the liquid exfoliator
Thank you :)
No, you leave it on the skin.
Hey😊
Yes, that's fine!
You don't need to use SPF in the evening, use it in the morning!😊
Hey Melissa😊 Your videos are great😍 I just wanted to clarify few things if you dont mind. Can I can incorporate Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid Booster and the Inkey List Tranexamix acid in the same night-care skincare routine as the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Exfoliant.
So if I was to follow this routine, can you please tell me if it would be fine?
Step 1: Cerave Foaming Cleanser
Step 2: 2% BHA Exfoliant
Step 3: Acid Booster or Tranexamic Acid
Step 4: Cerave Moisturiser
Also, if you could please tell me, would you recommend putting on the Cerave resurfacing retional in the same skincare routine as the 2% BHA Exfoliant since I have to use it every night to achieve best results😅.
Hey! :)
You can use PC BHA in the AM, just don't forget to use sunscreen if you have sun exposure.
How to Use The Ordinary Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin & Rosehip Seed Oil:
th-cam.com/video/Bg6dsbnSTHY/w-d-xo.html
Can I use like this?
Cetaphil gentle cleanser
Beauty of joseon toner
Paula’s choice 2% bha
Beauty of joseon glow serum
Beauty of joseon Dynasty cream
Please reply. ❤
Beauty of Joseon toner is also an exfoliating acid toner. I suggest alternating between the Beauty of Joseon toner and Paula’s Choice 2% BHA to prevent irritation or sensitivities over time.
