    I hope this is retirement level income for Larry Carlton. Such an illustrious career and so many sacrifices along the way. It would be great for him to maybe sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labors of so many years. In part, I'm getting a Cherry Sunburst H7 to pay back in some small way all the blessings his music has been during the course of the last 40 years or more of my life. God bless Larry Carlton and Sire guitars. Maybe, just maybe, I'll finally be able to learn all of "Room 335"...

    I fear his health is really failing and he's one of my all time favorite players. His left hand seems like it was shaking uncontrollably. He's such a class act and a trooper and is just one of the all time greats. I genuinely hope he's doing well but this video really kinda hurts me to watch a little.

      Could have been nerves from being filmed, wanting to get it right. He is a gift to us all, hopefully all it is.
      Anyway, these Sire guitars are amazing. The rolled frets are incredible. I’ve got the l7v and looking to get a T7 also. I’ve got plenty of high end stuff that I’ll probably get rid of and replace with these.
      The overseas productions are getting so much better and rival the domestically made guitars at 4 to 5 times the price.
      What a great time to be a musician/guitarist!

    it is a keeper

  • @CamiloVelandia
    @CamiloVelandia ปีที่แล้ว +15

    I''ve owned an H7 for almost a year. The only flaw I could find is that the G string is slightly sharp on the first few frets, but that can be fixed filing the nut some more. It played great out of the box, but I adjusted the setup to where I like it, and it really plays as good as anything. I A/B'd with a $3000 Gibson 335, and I liked the Sire's pickups more. The neck of the H7 is thinner than your standard 335, so could be an issue for fans of big necks. I honestly bought it expecting to have to change the tuners, pickups, bridge... but I really didn't have to. Stays in tune great, sounds great, feels great. Fret leveling and fret dressing is great. Definitely a great guitar for anyone who wants a 335 style guitar without breaking the bank.

      I was on the fence about getting one of these, so reading your review on it has definitely pushed me towards getting it. Especially considering the vast amount of gear you have as a session guitarist, I'll take your word for it! 👍

    • @CamiloVelandia
      @CamiloVelandia ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alvaromendez5454 yeah! I can do some more filing on the nut to be honest. But thats the only flaw. First few frets are a tad sharp when open strings are tuned. But thats it! Everything else is great!

    • @danbroussard8714
      @danbroussard8714 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've been using mine for almost a year now. Yes, the G string was sharp at the first 2 frets on mine. I had it adjusted and the intonation is fine now. This guitar covers the many styles I play, Latin, Jazz standards, dance, blues among others. I got it after watching and researching as much as I could, especially with Mr. 335 endorsements! What was discussed in the video has been my experience as well. The playability suits my hands with ease and comfort. It's a keeper!.

    One thing I’ve never heard highlighted on the H7 is that the distance between the bridge and the tailpiece is bigger than a standard 335. I think that’s because Larry’s ‘69 was converted from a trapeze tailpiece and Sire used those specs. Not sure.
    Regardless, I like how comfortable it is to rest my palm on the bridge and how easy it is to bend notes because of the longer string length from the bridge to the tailpiece.
    Thank you, Mr. Carlton and Sire.

    I find it interesting that a low-cost guitar comes standard with bound F holes, while Gibson uses black felt pen to paint over bare wood. How much more would it cost Gibson to put binding on the F holes of a $3,000 guitar? Budget brands do it for a whole lot less. It's the little touches that show craftsmanship. It's also the little touches that show a lack of craftsmanship. I have a beautiful Gibson ES-359 that has black pain or felt pen over the bare wood of the F holes. In the days of lasers and CNC machines, this is no longer acceptable.

    Gibson owner here. Just got ahold of a Sire H7V (p90’s) and I wanted to leave a comment in case anybody was on the fence with these guitars. Buy one. Now. Right now… before somebody catches on and starts charging $2500 for them. I’m generally a USA made snob with guitars. I do like Epiphones, and Ibanez etc but I’m always the first one crashing the Epiphone comment sections saying “ya’ll are hilarious, epiphones are a great value but the feel is what makes a Gibson and ya’ll are buggin”
    Well guess what? This feels like a Gibson neck. I have my H7V sitting right next to my 2023 Gibson Les Paul Standard 60’s, and I’m telling you right now that blindfolded you couldn’t feel a difference between the two necks. Other than them being different profiles. That’s something I never thought I’d ever hear myself say in regards to a guitar less that $3000. This thing feels 2x better than an epiphone. I am beyond blown away by this thing. Blindfolded you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between this and a Gibson ES335. I’m not joking…
    And the p90’s changed my life. I’m gonna end up putting p90’s in everything now 😂
    These H7’s are the best thing since sliced bread. Deadass.

    Looks like he develops some neurological disease. His hands are shaking badly. It might be Parkinson's... I think this is the real reason of his retirement, not a tiredness of touring.
    Everything has its end... It's so sad.
    He was and still is one of my very favorite guitarists of all time. Saw him Live at least 10 times, including the tour with Lukather.
    Be well, dear Mr. 335

    Ugh. Makes me sad that for a few pieces of silver he’d sell his reputation. (“The guitar wasn’t even set up.” Lol. Imagine how that make his guitar tech and guitar techs in general feel)
