As for the Tabuk surroundings, we have to give special thanks to @filamsaudiarabia for their great hospitality. Your goal of showing us 6 days worth of Tabuk region in 3 days was successful! We are anxious to have you in return in the Eastern Province.
Story about the Catalina Seaplane: On the very most western tip of Saudi Arabia comes an amazing story. I summarize from the Artificial Owl recounted by 1 & Adam. It’s a 1930 Vintage PBY-5A Catalina, one of the most widely used multi-role aircraft of World War II. It was bought by Thomas Kendall and converted to a luxury flying yacht. In 1960, he took the skies to parade his plane around the world! Unfortunately, when he reached the Tiran Islands between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, Bedouin gunned his plane with no fewer than 300 shots. No one one was hurt, although they were captured, brought to Jeddah and subsequently released with the help of the American embassy.

Note: Many think Jabal Lawz is the real Mount Sanai and that many other sites such as the split rock and Golden Calf alter are more evidence that things happened as per Exodus in this Horeb area.

Good question. It does snow in Tabuk but it did not while we were there in early December.
