I completely appreciate adding the lesson needing to explain ADSR. I feel with loops, presets and everything available to people just starting now that this knowledge is slowly fading. ADSR, Waveforms, Oscillators and THEN sampling used to be the order to learn in because each one builds on the last one and leads to an actual understanding of synthesis. Trying to use the old sampler (EXS24) without understanding the basics would’ve been a nightmare. I’m glad everything is getting easier to use for anyone but having that sort of gap in knowledge is going to lead to struggle when people try/want to do something more complex further down the line.
Thank you so much for this wonderful enlightenment, Josh. Not only about Logic's Quick Sampler but also about synthesizers in general. Deeply appreciated !
This is such a great video. I have been teaching myself Logic and virtual synthesis for about 9 months now and this is one of the clearest and most useful explanations of ADSR and LFOs that I’ve come across. Thank you!! Your work makes a big difference.
In this video, I demonstrate the following: 1. How to slice drum loops and re-sequence them into new beats. 2. How to create a white noise crash FX from a sample. 3. How to create a complex synth instruments using modulation and advanced features in Quick Sampler. 4. Explain synthesis modulation fundamentals, such as ADSRs, LFOs, modulation sources and targets, filters, and pitch effects. Thank you for the in depth explanation of every feature you touch. You have natural gift to go deep to the matter and to explain it to even beginners like me. Thank you again!
Excellent as usual! I've been watching your tuts for years and I'm really grateful for you showing how things work in the context of production vs just explaining etc. Re learned ADSR. Nice job on that!
hey man, just wanted to say that you give the absolute best tutorials on the internet.. very easy to understand and straight to the point.. I just started using logic and im learning so much from your videos ! Thanks Brother
What an expert. This is far beyond my abilities and I think I‘ll go on finding and using presets as this is much too complicated and time-consuming to learn it. In the short time that is left for me there are more important things in Logic I will have to learn. One more thing: This is a super sample you created here!
once again an awesome video.. learning so much from your series.. thank you so much for your time n effort you put into these videos.. greatly appreciated, :)
Great vid, thanks! Is it possible to sort audio files by volume automatically? I've sampled my guitar and it will take forever to do it manually per note.
Is there a way to pitch only a part of the sample down while still using the full sample? I don’t want to cut the part out because I want to save the edited sample as a loop
Can you edit velocity and drive on a loaded round robin preset drum kit like "dirt" by circle drums? The way you edit a one shot in dmd. Or do you need to make a track stack on one shots to do this. ( I ask questions weird lul )
Hi! Looking everywhere to find a tutorial on how to add modulation to sampler strings! Aiming for a gradual fade in of vibrato but all that happens when I draw the slopes in midi automation is it jumps into full tremolo after a certain threshold and then audio blips out below the threshold. Advice? We also tried a mod wheel and no luck :((
Well, I‘ll watch this video later and go to #47 as that is more important to me at the moment … the Logic drummer, which is the drummer in my production …
What an underrated channel this is. May your efforts towards teaching us a lot of great knowledge not go unnoticed.

Agreed! I finally felt a few things click about other synthesizers while watching this too.

Thank you for the great video. Not only about quick sampler but also an introduction to sound design.
Thanks a lot.. finally start to understand the Q-sampler bit better!
Thank you Professor MusicTechHelpGuy!

What's the future for Logic, next year text to music option?
Is there a way to make the sample sustain fully until the sample is over?

Maybe a good vid would be recording a sound with a microphone, like tapping a glass, and using it with quick sampler😊
Just recorded a video on this. It'll go live early next week. Thanks for the idea!
Hola quiero saber más de dolby atmos...tu sabes..te pagaría si me haces un video
