But this song isn’t Scripturally correct. In Luke 23:42-43 Jesus tells the thief on the cross “… today you will be with Me in Paradise.” And 2 Corinthians 5:8 says: “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”
I’ve always understood these verses to mean that we who are believers are immediately present with Jesus when we die. But this song basically says that first we get a tour of Heaven, reunite with loved ones, and meet the people in the Bible BEFORE we meet Jesus. I want to bow down to Jesus and embrace Him before I do anything else in Heaven.
